Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   La fig. 2 le montre extérieurement après basculement du   ré-   servoir;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Automatic device eliminating the first rainwater in the cisterns.

   The rainwater collected in the cisterns is generally collected directly from the roof through the gutters and the downpipe; therefore, the first water collected is loaded with all the impurities (dust, leaves, etc.) from the roof - or contained in the gutters.

   As a result, the collected water is contaminated and the. cistern and cistern must be cleaned very frequently.

   The present invention obviates these drawbacks and relates to an automatic apparatus which is placed between the water drop and. the. tank with, and whose goal is to eliminate the first rainwater charged with impurities of all kinds to admit in the tank only clean water.

   This device is characterized by the presence, above a water inlet funnel, in the cistern, of a tank collecting the first rainwater and tilting when full, to discover the orifice of the funnel.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   This tank is fitted with a grid preventing foreign bodies from falling inside. These bodies are rejected outside when the tank is tilted.

   After tilting, the tank empties slowly through calibrated orifices and this time is taken advantage of so that the clean water flowing through the downpipe first fills a tank arranged at the inside the funnel in order to then overflow the latter and flow into said funnel.

   The purpose of this tank is to ensure the locking of the tank in its position, tilted during the whole time that the rain lasts.

   For this purpose, this tank is supported by one of the ends of a lever pivoted in its middle and the other end of which has a counterweight.

     This tank is also provided with diametrically affixed hooks, curved outside the funnel and locking the tilting tank when the tank, full of water, descends because its weight is greater than that of its counter- weight.

   This tank also has, in its lower part, small calibrated orifices allowing water to flow as soon as the rain stops; flow brings about an imbalance; the tank rises and the tilting tank, which has meanwhile emptied, is unlocked and returns to its initial position.

   Other features will become apparent in the description which follows and with reference to the accompanying drawing by way of indicative, but not limiting, example, in which:
Fig. 1 shows the apparatus in section in the rest position ;.

   Fig. 2 shows it externally after tilting the tank;
Fig. 3 is a similar view after locking the tank:
Fig 4 is a partial section made by a-a of fig. 1.

   According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a funnel 1 provided laterally with journals 2 supporting the tilting tank

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

3 through arms 4.

   This tank is balanced by adjustable counterweights 5.

   It has at its upper part an orifice 6 placed opposite the downpipe T. This orifice is covered with a screen 7 preventing foreign bodies, leaves or the like from falling into the tank.

   The reservoir 3 is, moreover, provided with orifices 8 ensuring the flow of water after its tilting.

   When it is empty, the counterweights 5 keep it on the funnel 1, its orifice 6 placed under the downpipe T. But its shape is such that when it is full of water the center of gravity of the liquid mass is placed in front of the vertical plane of the journals 2 and this imbalance causes it to tilt (fig. 2). This tilting is limited by a stop 9 on which each arm 4 rests.

   During this tilting, the foreign bodies collected on the screen 7 are projected outside the funnel and the polluted water contained in the tank flows slowly through the orifices 8 provided in its lower part.

   During the time that the tank 3 takes to empty, the clean water flowing from the downpipe T falls into the funnel 1 and fills a vertically movable tank 10.

   This tank is supported by a beam 11 comprising a central side 12 resting / on spans 13 coming from the foundry with the funnel.
The beam 11 has at its end opposite the tank, a counterweight 14 resting on a stop 15 of the funnel 1.

   The weight of this counterweight is such that when the tank 10 is full, the balance is upset to the benefit of the latter.

   The tank has side hooks 16, U-shaped diametrically opposed to extend outside the funnel which has for this purpose notches 17.

   These side arms are guided vertically, outside the funnel, between the tenons18.

   When the tank 10 is full, its weight causes its descent

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 which is limited by the support of the arms 16 between the bottom of the notches 17 and the lower ends of said arms engaging behind extensions 19 of the arms 4, lock the latter in the horizontal position.

   As long as it rains, clean water overflows from tank 10 and supplies the cistern by flowing through pipe 20 of funnel 1.

   The opening 10 has at its lower part small orifices 21 so that when the rain stops falling, the tank empties until the moment when the counterweight 14 determines its upward movement.

   This movement has the effect of unlocking the arms 4, and the empty tank 3, urged on by its counterweight, returns to its initial position.

   It should be noted that the tilting of the tank 3 can be carried out if desired, before its complete filling, depending on the size of the roof or its state of cleanliness.

   It suffices to adjust the position of the counterweights 5 accordingly.

   Of course, the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown and described which can, on the contrary, vary in shape and size without altering the principle of the invention.
