Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   -

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  Compressed air liquid elevator.

   This invention relates to compressed air liquid elevators comprising an injector effecting the evacuation of air from the discharge tank and the suction of liquid therein, the injector being of a construction and placed under the influence. of the discharge tank float so that when filling the tank comes to an end, the passage of compressed air through the injector is blocked and the compressed air is directed into the tank to discharge the liquid therefrom. outside, the step of the elevator being thus changed from the suction action to the discharge action.

   In known elevators of this type, in order to allow the injector to be put into or out of action, the bellows nozzle or the suction nozzle of the injector is arranged so as to be able to be moved and connected by a system of levers to the float which produces the displacement of the nozzles.

  These sliding nozzles cause considerable friction, the compensation of which requires a fairly large power and in

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 consequence a large float or a corresponding amount of compressed air. In addition, elevators with surfaces sliding over one another are unsuitable for use in mines or. other places where it makes dust, because dust inevitably penetrates between said surfaces increasing friction or even preventing displacement.

   Elevators are already known with an injector, the suction nozzle of which is mounted in the cover of the delivery tank and forms the seat of a shut-off valve, which is controlled by the tank float and in its closing positron. causes the elevator to reverse from the suction action to the expulsion action. Such an elevator no longer has the drawbacks of other known elevators, but as long as the reversing valve is in the center line of the injector, this must be of a special construction comprising a number of individual nozzles distributed. . on a circle or annular nozzle which, by surrounding the valve body, passes the compressed air into the injector substantially along the inlet walls of the suction nozzle.

  Such a construction is more complicated and less efficient than a normal injector, that is to say an injector whose bellows nozzle is disposed centrally and axially with respect to the suction nozzle.

   In order to obtain a good suction effect also in the elevators of the latter type, with which the suction nozzle of the injector forms the seat of the shut-off or reversing valve, the present invention aims at a construction making it possible to use a normal injector in said elevators.

   -

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

According to the invention, the bellows nozzle of the injector retains an axial and central position with respect to its suction nozzle and the injector cooperates with a reversing valve, preferably in the form of a ball, which is capable of to move up and down in a guide of the annular channel between the two nozzles under the action of the float which simultaneously actuates a disc which, when the float reaches its upper position, closes said annular channel with respect to the reservoir except for the part of the channel guiding the valve.

   In addition to the good suction effect of the injector and a corresponding high efficiency of the elevator, it has the advantage of being very simple and insensitive to dust etc.

   The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, a vertical section of an embodiment of the control of a compressed air liquid elevator according to the invention. a designates the delivery tank for the liquid to be lifted and b the tank cover carrying the control elements. The injector comprising the bellows nozzle c and the suction nozzle d is housed in an opening in the cover.

  In its narrow part, the nozzle d forms the seat f for the shut-off and reversing valve g. The compressed air is supplied to the nozzle c through the pipe h and the channel i. The body of the bellows nozzle c carries a disc k capable of being moved vertically along said body and provided with a notch 1 in the form of a sector. The valve ± is disposed in the channel m formed around the bellows nozzle c between the latter and the suction nozzle d. To guide the valve ± in the channel m, the latter is provided with suitable radial walls or, as shown in the drawing, with a cylindrical guide sleeve n housed in the grooves of the bodies of the nozzles c and d.

   The float lever o is connected by connecting rods p¯ to the disc k ,. whose hub engages

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 by pivots r in buttonholes s of the connecting rods. The valve g preferably consists of a ball carried by a rod. which slides in an arm u of the connecting rods p and has stops w.

   When the discharge tank is empty, the compressed air flows according to the solid arrows, exits the bellows nozzle c and passes through the suction nozzle d to the outside, entraining the air contained in the tank a through the annular channel m and causing a depression in the reservoir which sucks the liquid rapidly into the reservoir or accelerates the entry into the latter of the liquid arriving by its gravity.

   When the float approaches its upper position towards the end of the filling operation, the float lever o, via the rods ± and the arm u pressing against the upper stop w of the rod t, moves the valve ± in the sleeve m and at the same time lifts the disc ïç¯ until it is placed against the annular channel m closing this channel with the exception of the part within the reach of the notch ¯! ¯ of disk k.

   All the air sucked in from the reservoir a by the action of the injector then passes only through the notch 1 and the sleeve n in contact with the ball valve g. In the meantime the float with its lever reaches its upper end position and the. valve g enters the sphere of the most intensive suction action of the injector, the result being that the valve is thrown on its seat f and blocks any further compressed air output, thus producing the shift of the elevator from the suction action to the expulsion action. The compressed air now flows from the channel m through the notch 1 of the disc k and expels the water accumulated in the tank outside.

   The float is lowered and with it the disc k which then uncovers the total section of the channel m to such an extent that the compressed air can flow freely into the delivery tank. Air flow

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 compressed from the nozzle ± in Reservoir a is indicated by dotted arrows. When the tank has emptied and the float has reached its lower end position, the arm u of the connecting rods p rests on the lower stop w of the rod t and through this pulls the valve into the open position. Compressed air again flows from the nozzle ± through the nozzle d so that another period of suction and filling will begin.
