<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

LETTER PAPER FORMING ITS OWN ENVELOPE AFTER FOLDING.
This invention proposes to improve writing paper intended to form its own envelope after folding and of the type comprising a sheet of paper provided with suitably gummed tabs capable of being folded over the rest of the sheet previously folded and of being. glued against it, so as to constitute the envelope.
The invention is embodied in a sheet of letter paper forming its own envelope after folding and consisting of a rectangular sheet provided with folding tabs designed to connect to each other the various folds resulting from the folding of this sheet without any 'it is necessary to cut it in order to fold and adhere the tabs in question.
In the accompanying drawings are shown by way of example two preferred embodiments of this stationery forming its own envelope after folding.
Fig. 1 is a view of the combined sheet of paper showing the folding legs and their folds for forming the envelope.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the sheet of paper shown in Fig. 1 showing how to produce the first fold during the folding operation for the constitution of the envelope.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of this same sheet of paper assuming the first fold has already been formed and showing how to make the second fold.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the same sheet of paper shown in the previous figures assuming the first and second plies are already formed and showing how to form the third ply.
FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing the sheet of paper completely folded up and showing the mode of folding back of the tabs in order to maintain the various folds thus formed, in order to constitute the envelope.

Fig. 6 is a view of the combined sheet of paper capable of forming an envelope after folding in accordance with another embodiment of the invention, this view showing the arrangement of the foldable retaining tabs and their folds. .
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the sheet of paper shown in Figure 6 assuming the first three folds are already formed and showing how the folding is effected prior to the folding of the retaining tabs.
Figure 8 is a perspective view of the sheet of paper shown in Figure 6 when fully folded, this view showing the superposition of the retaining tabs.
As shown in Figures 1 to 5, this sheet of writing paper intended to form its own envelope after folding as provided for in the invention comprises a rectangular sheet of paper a having two shorter edges 1 and 2 and two more edges. long 3 and 4, this sheet a being divided by a line -1 parallel to edges 1 and 2 into two zones alet a2. The area a1 is rectangular in shape and extends between the line I and the short edge 1 of the sheet. This al zone constitutes the space in which the sender of the letter inscribes or prints his name and address as well as the letterhead. The second area a2 is square in shape and extends between line 1 and the other short edge 2 of the sheet. This zone constitutes the part reserved for the text of the letter.
In each of the consecutive angles of the sheet a corresponding to the area al there is a leg b in the form of a right triangle delimited by a dotted line or a line of weakness II forming its hypotenuse and extending from the intersection of the dividing line I with one of edges 3 and 4 and at 45 to edge 1 of the sheet. Ge dotted II is intended to facilitate the folding of the legs b.
To form an envelope using the sheet of paper, four folds are made: The first fold is obtained by folding the square area a2 along its diagonals (for example the diagonal AB), thus forming a right triangle ( see fig. 2). The second fold is obtained by folding this right triangle along its axis of symmetry C-D, thus forming another right triangle whose hypotenuse coincides with the line I which divides the sheet a (see fig. 3). The third fold is obtained by folding the rectangular area a1 along the dividing line I over the right triangle (see fig. 4). Finally the fourth fold is obtained by folding the legs b along their respective dotted lines II also over the right triangle in question.
It then suffices to make the tabs b adhere against this rectangle triangle, 'for example by moistening them, to form the envelope.
According to the variant embodiment of the invention which is shown in FIGS. 5 to 8, the difference with respect to the first embodiment described above lies in the arrangement of the tabs b on the rectangular zone a1 since, in this second example, each of the legs has the shape of a right triangle whose hypotenuse coincides with the segment of one of the longest edges 3 and 4 of the sheet a, segment between the shorter edge 1 and the line of division I, the sides of the legs b being marked by dotted lines III.
In this variant embodiment of the invention, the rectangular zone a1 of the sheet is also divided into two equal sub-zones a1 'and a1 "by a dividing line IV extending parallel to the short edge 1 of the sheet. between this edge and the dividing line I. According to this division, the name and address of the sender are entered in the sub-area a1 ', while the header of the letter is entered in the area a1 ".
This subdivision is carried out so that only the name and address of the sender are entered on the back of sheet a.
In order to constitute the envelope using this combined letter paper constituting the second possible embodiment of the invention, it is necessary to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
make five folds on sheet a. The first three of these folds are obtained in the same way as the first three folds in the first embodiment described as shown in figure 1. The fourth fold of the sheet a is obtained by folding its rectangular area back to the top. along the line of division IV. then by folding the sub-zone a 'against the back of the sub-zone a1 "(see fig. 7) so that each of the legs b remains folded symmetrically, the two dotted lines III coinciding one with l another, which constitutes a tab similar to that shown in the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 6.
The fifth fold of the sheet a is therefore obtained, in this embodiment, in the same way as the fourth fold (see FIG. 2).
It is obvious that various modifications could be made by the manufacturers or the processors to the embodiments described above without departing from the invention.
