 EMI1.1

 EMI1.3
 50 4 H + 2 C1K + 50 4 G a + H0 --.-SOK2, 50 4 Ga, H20 + 2 GAIE

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A POTASSIUM FERTILIZER FREE OF CHLORINE.

The subject of the invention is a process for manufacturing a chlorine-free post-classical fertilizer.

According to this invention, the acid potassium sulfate is treated with calcium sulfate in the presence of water, so as to form a double sulfate of potassium and calcium and sulfuric acid.

Calcium sulphate used in this manufacture can be more or less hydrated.

   The reaction is as follows:
 EMI1.1
 2 SO 4 IM + 804 Ca + H 2 0 SO 4 K 2 SO 4 Ca., H 2 0 = 804H2 The SO4K2 SO4Ca H20 double salt, which settles, is very easy to filter. After washing and drying, it constitutes a potassium fertilizer containing 28.7% K2O
The sulfuric acid formed can be used in any convenient way. One can for example, mix it with concentrated sulfuric acid, so as to obtain a sulfuric acid having a concentration of 50 to 60% and make it act on the potassium chloride so as to obtain a new quantity of sulphate. potassium acid following the known reaction:
 EMI1.2
 S04H2 + OIE) 804KH + 01
It was found that this reaction could be combined with the previous one.

If in fact, sulfuric acid, potassium chloride and calcium sulphate are introduced into a mixer at ordinary temperature. cium and water, a solid product is obtained consisting of the double sulphate referred to above and a concentrated solution of hydrochloric acid, the reaction being able to be written:
 EMI1.3
 50 4 H + 2 C1K + 50 4 G a + H0 --.- SOK2, 50 4 Ga, H20 + 2 GAIE
The solid precipitate and the liquid can be separated by any suitable means, such as decantation, draining, filtration.

Neutral potassium sulphate, thus formed, can be advantageously used as a fertilizer. -Being cold produced, it is obtained under particularly economical conditions.

   Example
1 1,000 kilograms of potassium acid sulfate and 634 kilograms of gypsum (calcium sulfate bihydrate) are simultaneously introduced into a mixing apparatus and the mixture is stirred in the presence of 600 kilograms of water for about half an hour. .

One filters and thus collects 1,200 kilograms of a solid product consisting of a double sulfate of potassium and calcium sulfate, which after washing and drying, titrate about 28% K2O and can be used as a fertilizer. The liquid consists of a sulfuric acid solution comprising 360 kilograms of pure acid.

'360 kilograms of sulfuric acid, 550 kilograms of potassium chloride, 634 kilograms of gypsum and 900 kilograms of water are introduced into a mixing apparatus. The liquid and the solid are separated. The first consists of a hydrochloric acid solution at 19 Balm, containing
270 kilograms of pure acid, while the solid gives, after drying, a fertilizer formed from a double sulphate of potassium and calcium and containing about 28% K20.

    CLAIMS
1 A process for the manufacture of a chlorine-free potassium fertilizer, characterized in that to the acid sulphate of potassium, calcium sulphate in the presence of water is added so as to form a double sulphate of potassium and calcium, usable as a fertilizer and sulfuric acid.
