MACHINE FOR BREAKING MATERIALS.
The present invention relates to a machine for cutting a hard and brittle material such as an unreinforced concrete slab, comprising, on the one hand, a fixed blade which can serve as a support for the material to be cut and, on the other hand, First, a movable blade that can be applied against the face of this material opposite to that by which the latter presses against the fixed blade.
In order to cut, in a given plane, a concrete material such as a slab or a brick, it has been proposed to use a shear, that is to say, a machine comprising, in addition to a fixed blade , a pivoting blade which is guided parallel to the fixed blade so as to be able to pass right next to it.
This machine does not make it possible to obtain a clean cut under the effect of a relatively moderate force.
The present invention relates to a machine which does not have this drawback.
The machine according to the invention is characterized by a guide for the movable blade which allows the latter to be moved, in the plane of the fixed blade, with a translational movement after it has been brought into contact with the ma - material to be cut.
Preferably, the blades are chamfered symmetrically with respect to their mean plane so as to present in this plane an edge of contact with the material to be cut.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the faces of the two chamfers of each blade form between them an angle of approximately 25
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawing appended hereto, which represents schematically, and by way of example only, one embodiment.

tion of the machine according to the invention.
This drawing is a perspective view, after partial breaks, of the machine according to the invention.
We see a horizontal fixed blade 2, the upper part of which is chamfered symmetrically with respect to the mean plane of the blade. The faces 3 and 4 of the two chamfers of this blade form an angle of approximately 25 between them. On the edge 5 formed by the intersection of these two faces, rests a concrete brick 6. On this brick rests, by an edge 7, a movable blade 8, the lower part of which also has two chamfers symmetrically inclined with respect to the plane. means of this movable blade. The faces of these chamfers are designated by 9 and 10 and form an angle of approximately 25 between them. The movable blade is guided at each of its ends by a pair of uprights 11 formed by irons U. The foot of these is welded to the fixed blade 2 which is interposed between them.
Their head is welded to a stirrup 12 which simultaneously covers the two heads.
The uprights located at one of the ends of the movable blade 8 each have a vertical buttonhole 13 in which passes the shank of a bolt 14 passing through this movable blade.
Thanks to this buttonhole, the blade 8 can be brought closer to the blade 2 after having been brought into contact with a brittle material to be cut, for materials whose thicknesses may differ from each other by an amount a little less than the length of which the shank of the bolt 14 can slide in the buttonholes 13.
The movable blade 8 carries, towards the middle of its length, a mas- selotte 15 intended to receive the shock applied to the blade with a view to cutting the material,
When the latter is interposed between the two blades, as shown, it suffices to give a hammer blow on the weight 15 to clearly cut the material in the plane determined by the edges 5 and 7.
The severed part of the material is collected by a support consisting of a tank 16 filled with loose material such as sand 17.
In order to prevent the edges 5 and 7 from coming into contact with one another, when the material is suddenly cut, stops 18 are provided between the fixed and movable blades at the ends thereof.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of some of the elements involved in its realization, provided that these modifications are not inconsistent with the purpose of each of the following claims.
