Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig. 1 est une vue en élévation partie en coupe, d'un tube écono- miseur selon l'invention;
Fig. 2 est unevue en coupe, obtenue sensiblement selon la ligne 2-2 de la figure 1;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   -PROFECTIONING TO THE HEAT EXCHANGERS.

   The invention relates to heat exchangers and relates in particular to an economizer tube arrangement and an arrangement of such tubes used in such apparatus.

   In general, heat exchangers are made up of bundles of finned tubes arranged in juxtaposition and superposition, so as to form elements in which one of the fluids circulates inside the tubes while another fluid is caused to circulate externally to the tubes and between the fins in a direction which is perpendicular or oblique to that of the path of the first fluid.

   Various means and arrangements have been proposed to make the contact of the fluid circulating outside the tubes with the latter more extensive and more intimate; for example, it has been proposed to give the tubes a profiled section in line of flow, or to provide their external surface with protrusions or asperities, generally leading to solutions which are either expensive or else of execution. difficult.

   The object of the invention is a tube arrangement and an arrangement which, while being simple and therefore economical and easy to perform, provide a substantial improvement in the contact and the exchange rate and therefore in the efficiency of the tube. 'interchange.

   In accordance with the invention, the fins with which the tubes are fitted have corners turned down at the angles, and when the tubes thus arranged are superimposed and juxtaposed in bundles or bundle elements, profiled elements forming a baffle and deflector are engaged in the passages. corresponding formed by all the fins of the adjacent tubes.

   The baffle-forming elements are shaped so as to deflect the streams of the external fluid stream to the adjacent tubes; they can also constitute supports or supports for the beam or the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 beam elements, or parts thereof.

   Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the additional description which follows of certain preferred embodiments, given solely by way of examples, and illustrated by the appended drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is an elevational view, partly in section, of an economiser tube according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view, obtained substantially along the line 2-2 of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a cross section through a portion of a bundle of tubes according to Figures 1 and 2.

   Referring to the drawing, and first of all to Figures 1 and 2, an economiser tube according to the invention comprises a tubular body 1, provided at distance in distance with fins 2, which may be from the foundry or attached, and to which one preferably gives a general quadrangular or rectangular outline so as to be able to juxtapose and superimpose the tubes to form bundles or bundle elements, leaving between the fins conduits or passages for the fluid circulating outside these tubes .

   Assuming that the fin. Which is shown from the front in fig. 2 is in the orientation it would occupy in a bundle of juxtaposed and superimposed tubes, the lower angles of the fin are shot down, and in example cut along oblique lines 3, the superposition and the juxtaposition of the tubes provided with similar fins thus giving triangular openings between the adjacent fins.

   It is possible to limit oneself to shaping the fins as stated above, but, for reasons of ease of application, the four angles of the fin are preferably cut down in a similar manner, as is actually shown in fig. 2.

   FIG. 3 then shows the joining by juxtaposition and superposition of a certain number of tubes, and the formation between the adjacent fins 2 of the openings 4 forming passages prevailing over the length of the tubes which is provided. fins 2.

   In these passages 4 are arranged elements 5 forming a baffle and deflector, these elements essentially comprising faces 6 established to deflect the gas stream flowing outside the tubes towards the adjacent tubes.

   The figure shows that the gas stream reaching the bundle along the arrows f, is deflected by the elements 5 from its initial direction of travel, as shown by the arrows fi, and in each case brought closer both to the adjacent upstream tubes and to the tubes adjacent downstream, thus improving the heat exchanges between this stream and these tubes.

   In the example, the faces 6 of the elements 5 are plane and form between them an angle at the top of about 60, but it is understood that these faces could receive other conformations and be arranged between them in a different way. depending, for example, that it is desirable to favor contact with the adjacent upstream tubes, or else with those downstream, or that it is desired that the gas stream reach more especially a determined portion on the side downstream of the upstream tubes, or on the upstream side of the downstream tubes, or more generally a selected distribution of the current between these tubes or portions of tubes.

   Of course, the severing lines 3 of the angles of the fins 2 could correspond to the profile of the faces 6, the elements 5 then pressing exactly against the fins, but this arrangement is by no means

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 imperative.

   It can be seen that elements such as 5 not only have the effect of bringing the gas streams closer to the tubes of the exchanger, but also of reducing the quantity of fluid present at the places of the exchanger where the exchange rate is lower in l 'increasing on the contrary where the exchange rate is higher. Ultimately, the exchange will be more complete and faster, which, other things being equal, reduces the importance of the exchanger.

   The elements 5 can be used as simple baffles or deflectors, which is moreover their main function, but they can also serve as support or support members for the tubes.

   In such a case, they can be extended to the outside of the beam to come to rest on appropriate supports.
When they also fulfill the function of support, the profile of their cross section can be adapted to it in the most suitable way to give them the desired mechanical resistance.

   In such a case also, if the ends of the economizer tubes comprise, which is generally the case of single or double assembly flanges, these flanges can be shaped like the fins and, or, in any way specific to their allow passage to elements 5.

   Such a configuration of the flanges can moreover be advantageous in all cases in order to allow the checking and replacement of damaged elements.

   Although we have confined ourselves to the more detailed description of one embodiment, it goes without saying, as has been suggested, that the invention is not limited thereto but that it encompasses on the contrary, variants and equivalents. Thus, for example, instead of being formed or attached directly to the tubes, the fins according to the invention could be formed or attached to sleeves in one piece or composed of sections, surrounding the fins. tubes and adapting to them.

   CLAIMS la- Improvements to heat exchangers in which tubes fitted with fins are juxtaposed and superimposed to form bundles or bundle elements in the tubes of which a fluid travels while another fluid travels outside tubes in a direction perpendicular or oblique to that of the path of the first fluid, which consists in shaping the fins with corners turned down at the angles, and in placing in the passages formed by all the fins of the adjacent tubes , profiled elements forming baffle and deflector which force the fluid stream to approach the tubes and move away from the places of the bundle where the exchange rate is the lowest.
