ROTATING HANDLE FOR MOTORCYCLE HANDLEBAR.
The invention relates to a revolving handle for motorcycle handlebars, with an internal bearing support and guide ring clamped on the handlebar, which ring, which at the same time carries the bearing support for a le- maneuvering swivel sink.
The fixing of these bearing support and guide rings, on which the internal end of the rotary handle sleeve is mounted and is applied to ensure any axial displacement, presents particular difficulties. The fastening methods employed hitherto either do not offer a perfect guarantee against inadvertent rotation of the ring, or else are not applicable, in a satisfactory manner, for reasons of space. In particular, the conformation of the ring as a fully split clamping collar does not fulfill the purpose perfectly, as regards the safe guidance and arrangement of the end of the sleeve of the rotary handle.
In order to remedy these drawbacks, provision is made, according to the invention, to make in the bearing support and guide ring, on a part of its periphery, a transverse slot with respect to its axis and reaching the 'interior, and to divide, for its part, that of the two arcs separated by the slot which does not apply to the revolving handle, by a longitudinal slot, in the manner of a clamp.
By this conformation of the ring, the part of the non-split ring, perfectly closed, performs in the usual way the function of the guide and the bearing support for the sleeve of the rotating handle and also receives, if necessary, the spring to convex blade intended to brake the movement of the rotating handle, while the other part of the ring, split longitudinally, perfectly guards the ring against any rotation, like a clamp, and fixes it on the steering tube.

The drawing shows schematically an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Figure 1 shows a front view of the ring fixed to the steering tube, with the bearing support come in one piece with it, as well as the maneuvering lever, and this, seen from the middle of the handlebars in di - rection of the end of the steering tube.
FIG. 2 gives a side view of the same elements, the ring being largely broken, so that its internal face is split.
Figure 3 shows a top view.
The steering tube 1, carrying the handle. the sleeve 2 of the rotating handle, rotating on the tube, and the sleeve or rubber casing 3 which covers the sleeve are only indicated in phantom lines.
For the inner end of the sleeve of the rotating handle, the ring 4 is fixed on the tube 1, for guidance and as an axial stop. In this case, said end of the sleeve 2 penetrates into a corresponding front recess 41 of the ring 4. In FIG. 2, it can be seen that inside this recess 41 there is still a convex leaf spring. 5, visible from its internal side, which can be pushed against the end of the sleeve 2, thanks to a screw 6, which can be introduced radially, by rotation, into the ring 4, and brakes the rotation of the socket to the desired extent.
The bearing support 42 is made in one piece with the ring 4, said bearing support serving as an end stop for a Bowden cable, not shown, and as a bearing support for the operating lever 7, for the adjustment of this cable. Bowden. This lever 7 can here pivot around the threaded bolt 8, passing through the support 42 and it engages, via a conformally flattened end, in a corresponding recess of the bearing support 42.
The ring 4 has, at one of its sides, a slot 43, covering almost half of its periphery, a slot which is located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the ring and which continues up to the inside the ring. Figure 3 and, by the dotted reference lines, Figure 1 also show the length of this slot. This slot 43 therefore divides the ring longitudinally, on one of its sides, into two separate arcs 44 and 45. The arc 45, which does not apply to the rotating handle, also presents, as is clearly visible in FIGS. and 2, a longitudinal slot 46, which divides this arc in the manner of a clamping sleeve. In addition, at the ends of this divided arc adjacent to the slot 46 are provided noses 47, which have the threaded holes intended to receive the clamping screw 9 of the clamping collar.
When tightening this screw 9, the half 45 of the ring 4, divided longitudinally by the slot 46, is tightened firmly with the steering tube 1, so that a rotation of the ring on the steering tube 1 is not possible in the case of normal loads.
