 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  WIRING PORT, SUITABLE FOR HIGH VOLTAGES.

   The invention relates to a wiring support suitable for high voltages, essentially consisting of a weldable metal part fixed to a carrier plate and to which is welded a connecting wire. An example of such a support is a crimped copper ferrule.

   These brackets are frequently used to secure connection wires to a chassis plate and possibly to guide them through that chassis.

    These supports have a drawback; welds may have sharp protrusions which at high voltages give rise to a high concentration of electric lines of force and thereby cause sparks or even arcing. -
It is known to surround the parts brought to high voltages and comprising asperities with a shield in the form of a cup, with rounded outer shapes.

   An attempt could be made to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks by extending the raised edges of the crimping ferrule so as to constitute an element of electrical shielding of the weld, so that the latter is situated in a free space. of field.

   However, we. has found that this form of construction does not offer a sufficient guarantee against undesirable phenomena such as sparks and arcs, 'because, during welding, pointed particles can attach themselves to the weld - and to the edge outside of the crimp sleeve. @
The wiring support according to the invention obviates this inconvenience.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 comes from the fact that the weldable metal part is fixed on the carrier plate together with at least one cup-shaped shielding piece of non-weldable, electrically conductive material, the outer face of which is rounded , part which constitutes a shielding for welding. Preferably, the shielding piece will be made of aluminum, a metal which has excellent mechanical properties.

   However, other non-weldable metals or suitable conductive substances (eg electrically conductive synthetic resin) or non-conductive substances coated with a conductive layer can also be used.

   In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the shielding piece is fixed to the carrier plate by means of the metal part itself, for example a seamless crimping ferrule.

     @ The description which will follow with regard to the appended figures given by way of nonlimiting examples, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the figures, of course. part of said invention.

   The H.T. wiring support shown in section in Fig. 1 comprises a crimping ferrule 2, seamless, made of brass or any other weldable metal, fixed to an insulating support plate, 1. This plate, for example made of synthetic resin or cardboard, can form a wall of a device or be attached to this wall in a customary manner.

   The shielding support further comprises a shielding body in the form of a cup, made of a non-weldable material and with rounded exterior shapes that the crimping ferrule 2 fixes to the insulating carrier plate 1. The bottom of the cup 3 is slightly flared, to allow the outer edge of the bottom to rest on the insulating plate 1, even in the case where the opening made in this plate included a burr. This is desirable for the well known reason that air layers between conductors and insulators should be avoided wherever there is a somewhat strong electric field. This is also the reason why the outer surface of the shielding body 3 abuts perpendicularly on the insulating plate 1 and ends on the latter with an edge as sharp as possible.

   When it is necessary to solder a connecting wire 4 in the support, between this wire and the weldable crimping ferrule 2 a drop of solder is formed which must be electrically shielded by the body 3. The rounded shape of the outer surface of the shielding body 5 - and also that of the outer surface of the crimping ferrule 2 - prevents the formation of sparks or the initiation of arcs. As the shielding body 3 is not made of a weldable material, no welding droplets can form therein during welding. In the form of construction described, it is therefore certain that it does not attach sharp parts to the edge or to the outer surface of the armor body 3, parts which could cause sparks or arcs.

   It should be noted that it is also possible to solder two or a greater number of connection wires in the wiring support, wires which are arranged for example on either side of the insulating carrier plate. In this case, the support simultaneously acts as a feedthrough.

   Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of a support according to the invention; the support is fixed to the insulating plate 1 by a shielding body 6 of a somewhat different shape. This shielding body, for example also made of aluminum, comprises a part, to be used as a crimping ferrule, which passes through an adjusted opening 7 made in the insulating carrier plate 1 and which is fixed by crimping on this plate. In the part of the shielding body passing through the insulating plate 1 there is a coaxial copper ferrule 8 in which the connection wire 4 is welded - and whose upper edge bent at right angles rests.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 on the bottom of the armor body 6.

   The lower edge of the shell is tightened by widening the neck of the armor body. Fig. 3 shows yet another embodiment of the cabling support according to the invention: a shield body 10, respectively 11, is located on each side of a plate. metal mounting 9. On each side of said plate there is an insulating washer 12, 13 respectively, on which rests the shielding body 10, 11. The set of insulating bodies 10, 11 and insulating washers 12, 13 is fixed to the mounting plate by means of a single clamping ferrule 14, which for this purpose passes through the openings of the insulating washers 12, 13 and a wide opening in the mounting plate 9.

   In order to avoid contact between the wiring support and the metal mounting plate, the inner edges of the insulating rings 12,13 extend inwardly beyond the edge of the opening. in the metal mounting plate. In the embodiment shown, a connecting wire 15 has been welded to the crimping ferrule 14, for example of copper, on each side of the mounting plate 9 , respectively 16.

   Finally, it should be noted that the fixing of the wiring support on the carrier plate does not necessarily have to be carried out using ur crimping ferrule; one can also use, for example, a cable gland.
