<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 est une coupe selon la ligne A-B de la fig. 1;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

SLIDING LOCK WITH SWIVEL LEG THAT CAN SLIDE BEHIND
A FLANGE.
Slide locks for leather or napkins are known. similar receptacles, - locks of which the lower element carries a flange, while the upper element is provided with a pivoting tab which, when closed, slides behind the flange. To open the receptacle, it is necessary to push in the tab in the usual way. In the embodiments known to date, it is necessary to keep the tab lowered when it comes to sliding the upper element under the flange. This makes handling difficult when in a receptacle, for example a trunk, the two locks are distant from each other.
In order to significantly simplify the handling of the lock, especially in the latter case, the invention proposes to make the tab so that it can be secured in its maximum depression position by means of a lock or the like. This arrangement makes it possible to first sink the two legs of a trunk and then open the lid of this trunk, without having to keep the leg in a lowered position using the hand.
In the practical execution, the lock, influenced by a spring, can act by means of a spout or the like, on a wing of the lug or on the bottom thereof. In this way, the tab is secured in the maximum depression position. However, it is desirable that the tab automatically returns, by elastic relaxation, to the armed position for closing, as soon as the upper element is slid through the flange with a view to: closing.
To achieve this objective, the latch emerges from the lock box towards any side, so that it is moved in the unlocking direction when this box slides into the flange. Consequently, as soon as the tab of the upper element is caused to slide through the flange, the latch automatically moves and thus releases the tab, which, after having slipped through the flange, is caused to re-position.

lift by pivoting under the action of the usual pressure spring, thus resuming its blocking position.
In order to prevent, when closing the trunk or the like, that is to say, when sliding the upper element 8. through the opening of the lower element, the tab does not come together. not lock again in its maximum depression position, the invention provides that, when the lock is closed, the tab will perform a shorter stroke than that which corresponds to the locking of the latter. This can be achieved for example by giving the flange an angled shape upwards, so that, when closing, the tab; it is true, sinks slightly, but without lowering to the locked position.
As a result, the surfaces of the upper element located near the tab, laterally thereto, surfaces integral with the lock box, are guided by sliding under the flat parts of the flange. Consequently, the tab always comes to occupy its closing position after the upper element has been slipped through the flange.
The latch and the backing plate of the lock box may have tabs or raised fingers between which is hooked a coil spring which urges the latch outward. The coil spring can be replaced by a flat spring, or the like, interposed between the latch and the lock box.
The drawings show an exemplary embodiment of a lock according to the invention,? know :
Fig. 1 is a plan view, the flange being separated:
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line A-B of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a cross section along line C-D, the tab being depressed: and
Fig. 4 is a cross section, the tab being raised.
Part 1 of a receptacle, for example a trunk, is provided with the lower clasp element 2, which carries a flange 3.
The complementary, that is to say upper part 4 of the receptacle, carries the upper clasp element, comprising the lock box 6 and at the lower part of which is provided, as is known per se, a tab 7 pivotally mounted around a shaft 8 and biased towards the raised position, that is to say, closed, by a pressure spring 9.
This lock is slid, as is known per se, under the flange 3 thus ensuring the closure of the receptacle, since the end face of the tab 7 comes to rest against the flange 3. As is known, a such clasp can be executed so as to constitute a lock making it possible to block the tab by means of a key.
So that, in such a lock, the tab can be secured in its lowest position, to allow the opening of the lock, - there is provided on the support plate 10 of the lock a sliding bolt 11 carrying a spout 12 and biased to the left (Figs. 3 and 4) by a tension spring 13. This spring is tensioned between a tab 14 raised from the support plate and a tab 15 of the latch. When the tab 7 is pushed in, the beak 12 engages by elastic relaxation behind a wing 16 of the tab 7 thus maintaining the latter in its fully pressed position, this against the action of the spring 9, as shown in FIG. 3.
The latch 11 protrudes on the left side, for example, from the inside of the lock box, this protruding end being rounded, in accordance with FIG. 1. When, with the lock lowered, an attempt is made to push it back from the flange, the latch 11 moves to the right, meeting the flange 3, thus terminating the locking by the spout 12, so that the tab is raises again by elastic relaxation and comes to occupy its usual locking position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to prevent, when closing the trunk, or the like, the tab 7 from sinking to the bottom by the action of the flange 3 of the lower element; that is to say does not lock 2 again, this flange is established so as to bend upwards (considering Fig. 3) in the vicinity of the tab 7, so that, when closing, this tab, it is true, sinks slightly, namely, following its obligatory closing path, but without lowering to its locking position. Consequently, the surfaces 17 and 18 of the upper element, located near the tab, laterally thereto, surfaces integral with the lock box 6, are guided by sliding under the flat parts of the flange. 3.
On the other hand, in the event that the trunk is open, the tab 7 has been pressed down. the locked position the depression of the upper element through the flange will result in an unlocking of the tab as a result of the displacement of the latch 11, after which the tab can return to its normal closed position.
Such a construction of the lock has the effect of making it easier to handle, since, in order to open the trunk, it is no longer necessary to keep the tab lowered during the passage è. through the flange, because this tab automatically maintains its depressed position.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown. Thus, for example, it is possible to ensure that a part of the lock protrudes upwards, starting from the lock box 6, the arrangement being such that, as a result of a vertical displacement of this part of the lock, for example under the action of an oblique plane, or the like, the horizontal part of the lock will be moved for unlocking when the element 6 passes under the flange 3. On the other hand, the tab 7 may be provided with an auxiliary tab, the insertion of which during the crossing of the flange stops the locking.
An essential characteristic of the invention consists in that the clasp is formed in such a way that the tab can be locked for opening, but that when closing this tab is automatically returned to its closed position.
