<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

PULVERULENT CONTAINER AND DEVICE FOR USE.
The shortage of packaging such as cement bags and their price has already prompted users to use containers.
The containers known hitherto however had the drawback of emptying in one go and of requiring a silo having at least the capacity of the container used.
The object of the present invention is a container that can be transported on all vehicles and a device for use which makes it possible to remove from the container, at the place of consumption, for example on a site as and when required, metered quantities of powdery material, in particular quantities equal to those contained in a bag, ie 50 kilograms.
The container has at its base an emptying chute closed by a door and combined with one of the feet or a base making it possible to keep the container in the emptying position.
The device for use comprises a hopper closed at its base by a metering system and arranged so that the container can be mounted on it. A frame supports this hopper and is adapted to allow the passage of a wheelbarrow or other receptacle below the metering unit. In addition, a connection is provided between the hopper and the body of the container, so that after placing the latter on the hopper, the volume of the container is extended by that of the hopper. In this way, the hopper can have a smaller capacity than that of the container, which empties as the metering unit operates.
In an advantageous embodiment, means are provided for obtaining a sealed connection between container and hopper. The container has around its lower door a skirt or a rim which fits tightly to the edge of the hopper while allowing the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ordering of the container emptying. The hopper can be mounted on springs for automatic contact between its edge and that of the skirt.
The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the drawing being, of course, part of said invention. .
Fig. 1 is a schematic elevational view of the insulated container.
Fig. 2 shows the container mounted, on a construction site, above its user device.
The generally metallic container (see fig. 1) consists of a parallelepipedic or cylindrical body 1 forming a reservoir, provided at its upper part with a filling door 2 and terminated at its base by a chute 3 closed by a door. drain 4. Feet 5 are used to support it in a vertical position.
On the outer wall of the chute 3 is fixed a skirt 6.
The control lever 7 of the emptying door lock is outside the skirt and crosses the latter at a point 8.
On its arrival at the site (see fig. 2) the container is placed on a frame 9 which supports a hopper 10 with a capacity markedly less than that of the container.
The upper edge of the hopper 10 is adapted to come to rest on the edge of the skirt 6 of the container. The lower part of the hopper 10 is handled by a metering device 11, weight or volumetric, for example screw, lock, vibrator etc ...
Assay devices of these various types are well known and do not require special description.
For the case of cement, it was considered useful to have a seal between the skirt 6 and the hopper 10. This is why the hopper was mounted on the frame 9 by springs 12 which apply the hopper to the skirt by the 'interposition of an elastic seal.
When the container is placed on the metering hopper 10, the emptying door 4 of the container is opened by means of the control lever 7 which is operated from the outside. The door 4 falls vertically, establishing communication between the interior of the container and the dosing hopper 10.
-The ¯volume .du .container and -that-, of.-hopper 10 .forming then a single volume without any break in continuity, the contents of which are removed by the metering device 11 as and when consumption. The legs of the frame 9 support the hopper 10 and the metering device 11 at a sufficient height to allow the passage of wheelbarrows or other receptacles below the metering device.
The advantages of the device described are as follows:
The container that needs to be handled can be relatively light and inexpensive.
The device for use on the site can be used indefinitely to successively receive full containers.
It is not necessary to have a large silo at the place of consumption, since the pulverulent material such as cement remains stored in the containers and, when emptying, it is the entire container and of the hopper which forms a silo.
It goes without saying that modifications can be made to the container which has just been described, in particular by substitution of equivalent technical means, without going beyond the scope of the present invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In particular, the skirt 6 could be omitted from the container, giving the hopper 10 a sufficient height so that its upper edge provided with a resilient sealing ring can be applied to the external surface of the container. container. The skirt 6 could also be reduced to a flange or a shoulder forming a stop for the upper edge of the hopper.
The advantage of the skirt or of a rim of sufficient height is that it allows the control of the door lock to be accommodated, while ensuring a good connection of the chute of the container and the hopper.
