<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La fig. 1 est un schéma cinématique de la boite de vitesses de la poupée;
La fig. 2 montre schématiquement et en perspective le système de commande muni du système présélecteur;
La fig. 3 est une coupe transversale selon 3-3 de la fig. 4 de la poupée comportant le système de commande à présélecteur de la fig. 2;
La fig. 4 est une vue antérieure partielle de la poupée, en regardant le coté droit de la fig. 3 ;
La fig. 5 est une coupe selon la ligne 5-5 de la fig. 3 ;
La fig. 6 est une coupe transversale, selon la ligne 6-6 de la fig. 7 par une poupée comportant un système de commande à deux leviers, où les baladeurs sont manoeuvrés individuellement;
La fig. 7 est une vue antérieure partielle de la poupée, en regardant la fig. 6 du côté droit;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

BOX OF. SPEED FOR THE FIXED DOLL OF MACHINE TOOLS, IN PARTICULAR
TOWERS.
Generally, gearboxes for the fixed headstock of machine tools, in particular lathes, comprise several actuators each attached to a player and comprising as many engagement positions as the player. In a box with two floors and two players, for example, one of which has two positions and the other three working positions, a total of six gear ratios are obtained. In this case, one actuator has two engagement positions and the other has three.
Establishing the desired gear ratio here requires some thought and attention, because each ratio is determined by the combination of two engagement adjustments which should usually be found in a table.
Headstock gearboxes are also known, provided with a so-called "quick-maneuver" system, which makes it possible to carry out a pre-selection of the ratio using a handle and its actual engagement with the aid of a handle. with a second handle. Applied to the gearbox mentioned above, this system would mean that a rotary knob with six operating positions is used for the selection of the ratio and that, once this lever has been adjusted, a lever is actuated in order to establish the gear ratio you want. - read.
However, these preselection boxes are significantly more expensive. Economic reasons therefore require that we be able to provide both types of boxes, according to the wishes of the customers.
To allow the simplification of the construction notwithstanding this obligation, and in accordance with the invention, the doll may optionally include, and interchangeably, either a maneuvering device with organs
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
interlocking individually added to the elements of the box is an operating device equipped with a preselector system. It is therefore sufficient to establish a specific gearbox, which can then be fitted with one or the other operating system according to the buyer's desire.
The invention is particularly applicable to a doll's box comprising two control shafts each carrying a handle and which were to date individually joined to the sliding forks of players, so that a shaft is used to control a player, and the other, to that of the other player. According to the invention, one of the two interchangeable maneuvering devices connects each shaft, by intermediate sprockets, to the sliding fork of a player attached to this shaft, while the other control device couples one of these. two shafts to a control system producing the rotation of preselector discs which slide in opposition and connects the other shaft to a drive system producing the sliding of the preselector discs.
Rapid control systems are known, in which the preselector button rotates two sliding drums, provided with protrusions while the operating lever slides these drums in opposite directions, so that their fingers drive the players in the required direction. . The preselector system according to the invention is preferably established in a similar manner, since it comprises groups of selector discs sliding on a splined shaft connected by a conical gear to a selector button, these groups being connected by forks to racks. which slide in the opposite direction under the action of a common control pinion.

First, a brief description will be given of a lathe headstock box particularly suitable for the application of the invention:
On a shaft 13, controlled by the motor 12, are wedged three pinions 14, 15 and 16, the first two of which can mesh selectively with the players 18 and 19 mounted on a shaft 17. A pinion 20, wedged on this last shaft, can be coupled, by a sliding gear 21 mounted on a shaft 22, with the pinion 16, which produces the inversion of the shaft 17.
The command is established so that the player 21 can only be switched on if the players 18 and 19 are switched off.
To ensure the transmission of the drive to a shaft 23, the shaft 17 carries, in addition to the pinion 20, two other keyed pinions 24 and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
25. A multiple sliding pinion, comprising pinions 26,27 and 28 mounted on shaft 23, can be adjusted so that the meshing is established either between pinions 20 and 28 at numbers of. equal teeth, either between pinions 25 and 27, or between pinions 24 and 26.
The third stage of the gearbox consists of a second multiple slide, mounted on 19shaft 23 and comprising the pinions 29 and 30, as well as the pinions 32 and 33 wedged on a shaft 31. The pinions 29 and 32 have the same number of teeth, while these numbers are different for pinions 30 and 33. So when shaft 13 is driven at a given speed, we get 2 x 3 x 2 = 12 speed steps for shaft 31 The latter can be connected to pin 10 according to two different kinematic chains. The following chain will be used for de-magnification:
The pinion 32 wedged on 1) shaft 31 meshes with an idle pinion 34 mounted freely on a shaft 35 and able to be engaged with a balancer 36 mounted on a shaft 37.
The latter emerges from the headstock body and carries at its free end a transmission pulley 38 which controls, by means of a belt 39, a transmission pulley fixed to the end of the spindle 10. When the pinion 36 is engaged with the pinion intermediate idle 34, spindle 10 is driven by means of belt 39, as desired, with one of the twelve speeds of shaft 31.
Instead of being driven by the belt 39, the spindle 10 can also be controlled from the shaft 31 by pinions. On the shaft 31 is wedged a pinion 40 constantly in mesh with a pinion 41 wedged on the shaft 35. The latter however carries a multiple sliding gear comprising two pinions 43 and 42, which can selectively mesh with pinions 44 and 45 wedged. on the spindle. When the pinion 36 for the belt drive of the spindle is released, and the pinion 42 or 43 is engaged in its place, the spindle 10 is driven exclusively by pinions, while the shaft 37 is driven at empty by belt 39.
The operation of the three multiple players 29, 30 and 42, 43 and 36 is effected by means of a single lever which can occupy five different angular positions and which can engage the three multiple players according to five different combinations using a series of cams.
On the other hand, in the known machine, the operation of the two multi-player devices 18, 19 and 26, 27, 28 is obtained by the system with two levers shown in figs 6 to 8.-
In figs. 1, 3 and 6, the axes of the various shafts mounted in the transverse walls 11 of the doll body are designated by Roman numerals. While in the diagram of FIG. 1 the shafts have been represented as if their axes were in the plane of the drawing, figs. 3 and 6 represent the effective relative positions of these trees.
A hollow horizontal shaft, mounted in the front wall 46 of the tailstock and in a bearing block 47, reigns transversely to these shafts.
The shaft 48 emerges from the front wall 46 and carries a keyed hand lever 49. Inside the hollow shaft is mounted a shaft 50 which emerges at the front of this hollow shaft, where it also carries a lever. keyed hand 51.
Parallel to these two shafts and obliquely below them is a pivot 52 mounted in a bearing 53 screwed at 54 to the headstock body. On the front end of the pivot 52 are mounted two toothed segments 55 and 56 which can rotate relative to one another and mesh with pinions 57 and 58, the first of which is wedged on the shaft 50 and the other. be on the tree 48.-
We can therefore find the segment 55 using the lever 51 and the segment 56 using the lever 49.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
A rod 59 parallel to shafts II and III and situated immediately below them, figs. 6 and 8 is mounted in the walls of the doll body; hubs of two control forks 60 and 61 slide on this rod. The fork 61 attacks the multiple player 26, 27, 28 and the fork 60 the multiple player 18, 19. At the hub of the fork 61 is fixed a rack 62 which meshes with the segment 56. The hub of the fork 60 is also fixed. a rack 63, constantly in engagement with segment 55.
It is therefore possible, by means of the lever 51, to bring the fork 60, and consequently the multiple player 18, 19 in the desired engagement positions, while the multiple player 26-28 can be brought. in the desired positions by the operating lever 49.
The known elements of a lathe have been described so far. For the purposes of the present invention, the bearing bracket 53 may be eliminated and the fork 60 may be removed. This leaves room for the incorporation of the "quick-turn" system, which allows the pre-selection of the gear ratio. desired gear by turning a button.
This rapid maneuvering system will be explained with reference to FIGS.
2 to 5. In fig. 3, we find the fork 61 for maneuvering the multiple balancer 26, 27, 28 and the rack 62 fixed to the hub of this fork. However, the fork 60 is replaced by a fork 64, the hub 55 of which is guided to slide on a splined shaft 66, and which ensures the maneuvering of the multiple slide 18, 19. At 67, we screwed to the side wall of left 68 of the headstock body a support frame 69 comprising an arm 72 screwed at 70 and 71 to the walls of the headstock body, this frame being able to be omitted by applying a two-lever control system, as shown in fig. 8.
The splined shaft 66 is mounted in the parallel walls of the frame 69. In addition, this frame receives a splined shaft 73, parallel to the shaft 66 and on which a block 74 is slidably guided. In this block is mounted, on a journal parallel to the shafts 50 and 48, a small pinion 75 interposed between the splined shaft 73 and the rack 62, this pinion meshing both with the latter and with a rack toothing provided on the underside of the shaft splined 73. This has the effect that a displacement of the block 74 of a determined value produces a double displacement of the fork 61. In addition, a splined shaft 76, mounted for rotation in the frame 69, extends parallel to the shafts 66. and 73, roughly equidistant from these.
On the shaft 76 are slidably mounted two selector drums 77 and 78 each comprising two selector discs spaced from each other by a certain distance.
As shown in fig. 3, the selector discs have b, frames distributed over their periphery and the dimensions of which, measured on the periphery, are different.
The two selector drums 77 and 78 can be made to slide on the splined shaft 76 by driving the two forks 61 and 64. To this end, the hub 65 has on its upper face two fingers 79 located in the same radial plane of the splined shaft 66, but separated by an interval which substantially corresponds to that which separates the selector discs of the same drum.
The fingers 79 are located exactly under the axis of the two selector drums. The block 74 has on its dorsal face two similar fingers 80, located exactly at the level of the axis of the selector drums.
The fingers 79 and 80 can be driven by the projections of the selector discs. Whether or not this drive occurs depends on the angular position of the selector drums. To provide the required focus, the right end of splined shaft 76 carries a bevel gear 81, meshing with a bevel gear 82 of a vertical shaft 83 mounted in frame 69 and coupled to the bevel gear. shaft 50 by a pair of tapered gears 84.85. The lever 51 has been removed from the front end of this shaft and replaced with a rotary knob 86 which can be brought into
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
six different positions by means of an index 87 and a scale 89 and is held in each of these positions by spring balls 88.
The two selector drums 77 and 78 can therefore be brought into two different angular positions using the button 76. The device below enables the selector drums of FIG. 5 and move them in the opposite direction:
In the frame 69, two racks 90 and 91 are provided, parallel to the axis of the selector drums and slidingly guided, the teeth of these racks being turned towards one another and being in engagement with a pinion 92 the hub of which is mounted on the shaft 83 and has a bevel tooth 93. The latter meshes with a pinion 94 wedged on the shaft 48. Thus, by turning the hollow shaft 48, the two can be moved. racks 90 and 91 in opposite directions.
To each of these racks is fixed a fork 95 which attacks 1-'one of the two drums 77, 78.
For the purposes of the present invention the front wall 46 of the headstock is provided with a tubing 96 coming from the foundry and forming a bearing, and which remains unused in the case of the two-lever system, but which, in the case of the system rapid operation is used to receive the pivot 97 of an operating lever 98 intended to turn the shaft 48 with all the necessary force. To this end, the hollow shaft 48 and the pivot 97 are coupled by toothed sectors 99, wedged on each of these shafts meshing with each other.
When a tooth of the left disc of the drum 77 meets the right finger 80, the block 74 and the fork 61 are brought to that of the three possible positions which is at the extreme left. When the right disc of drum 78 meets the left finger 80, the fork 61 moves to the far right. Therefore, by properly arranging the teeth of the four discs of the two drums, any desired displacement of the fork 61 can be achieved, although the drums will move towards each other each time from the position of. fig. 5, until they meet, in order to achieve the desired focus of the gearbox. This also applies to the fork 64.
After adjustment of the gearbox, the components 77, 78, 90, 91, 48, 99, 98 return to the starting position, this under the effect of return springs 100, one of which is interposed between the right fork 95 and the left wall of the frame 69, while another is interposed between the left fork 95 and the right wall of the frame 69.
In the absence of special provisions, it could happen that a sudden operation of the lever 98 has the effect that the multiple players to be engaged are projected beyond the required position To avoid this drawback, spring balls are provided guided in the hubs forks 61 and 64 by means of bushes oriented radially to the rods 59 and 66 and influenced by pre-tensioned springs, which force the balls into corresponding notches of these rods. These sockets are indicated by 101 in fig. 3.
By dismantling the frame 69 and the members which it supports, room is left for the incorporation of the operating system with two levers with the bearing support 53. The headstock described here can therefore be provided with the choice of the two-lever control system. levers or preselection.
