  GENERATEUR A MOUSSE.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  FOAM GENERATOR.

In the known foam generators, the foam was produced by multiple jets which could either cross or be parallel and which were produced inside a tube pierced with openings, to allow the introduction. air. which was sucked by the Giffart effect.

The present invention relates to a foam generator characterized in that it uses a single jet having the tubular shape. In addition, the air suction is produced by the exterior face of the water tube, as well as by its interior face.

The invention also covers a device consisting of a cover which more or less masks the orifices through which the air is sucked.

A small part can be provided carrying directional fins, the purpose of which is to rectify the speed of the water inside the generator, in order to make the streams of water strictly parallel to the axis of the generator. 'apparatus.

A description of an apparatus according to the invention will be given below with reference to the attached drawing given by way of example:
The water enters through a firefighter type fitting a and enters a circular duct b terminated at its end by a cross-shaped piece whose banks c are intended to make the streams of water parallel to the axis of the apparatus.

The water is expelled through an annular duct d and the jet then takes the circular shape.

By the speed of the water jet, the surrounding air is drawn in and the result is a real suction of the ambient air.

This effect is well known and is used in all Giffart or Venturi devices.

In the case of the invention, the air is entrained by the exterior surface of the hollow jet as well as by its interior surface. The 'fraction which

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

is sucked by the outer face enters the tube f through the orifices e whose section is rectangular and which can be more 'or less masked by a movable circular flap not shown in the drawing.

The fraction of air which is sucked in by the interior face of the water tube enters the tube f through a small concentric tube g whose orifice h ends in the open air.

The air and the water charged with foaming product emulsify in the tube f. On leaving the latter, a foam of variable consistency and expansion is therefore obtained, suitable for extinguishing special fires for which the foam is generally adopted.

The tube f is terminated by a quick connector i, for example with a round thread with rapid pitch.

If the water which feeds the apparatus is charged with foaming product by an apparatus external to the above system, the generator is constructed according to fig. 1. In the event that the water is not mixed with the foaming product, the generator described above can carry out itself the suction and the mixing of the foaming product thanks to the existence of a small gif. - eyeshadow k well known and commonly used in this type of device.

The generator thus described can serve two purposes:
1 - as a foam lance, giving a jet of foam directly at the outlet of the tube f.

2 - as a foam generator in the usual sense of the word, that is to say producing a foam which can be pulsed in a pipe of suitable section and length.

As a variant, it is possible to ensure that the jet of foam leaving the tube d has a frustoconical shape flared outwardly (diverging) coming to strike a wire mesh disposed against the internal wall of the tube f.
