Description
AGENT DE DEROUILLAGE, AGENT DE PROTECTION CONTRE LA ROUILLE ET ENDUIT.
Dans les procédés de phosphatation connus, on obtient un enduit de phosphate agissant comme agent de protection contre la rouille sur des objets en fer et en acier au moyen de sels d'acide phosphorique solubles dans l'eau. Il est également connu d'enlever la rouille et les écailles du fer par de l'acide phosphorique dilué aqueux, ainsi que d'ajouter aux peintures usuelles de l'acide phosphorique qui forme alors avec le fer ou également avec les oxydes qui y adhèrent, des phosphates insolubles, protecteurs contre la rouille. Finalement, on a également déjà proposé de préparer des couleurs au moyen de scories d'argent riches en silice, contenant de l'oxyde de plomb et de l'oxyde de zinc, ainsi que de scories de charbons, par exemple de foyers de chaudières.
L'invention a pour objet un agent de dérouillage et de protection la rouille, et un enduit, dont le constituant principal consiste en scories Thomas très finement moulues, seules ou traitées par des agents aptes à libérer entièrement ou partiellement la portion soluble dans le citrate de l'acide phosphorique des scories chômas, de manière qu'elle puisse servir d'agent de dérouillage et de formation d'un enduit de phosphate de fer protecteur contre la rouille. On désigne comme acide phosphorique soluble dans le citrate la portion de l'acide phosphorique qui, lors de l'emploi de scories Thomas comme engrais, est mise en solution par les excrétions acides des racines et est alors absorbée par les petits poils fins des racines des plantes.
Suivant la présente invention, lors de l'emploi de scories Thomas agents de dérouillage, agents de protection contre la rouille ou enduit, leur contenu en acide phosphorique soluble dans le citrate est séparé et libéré par l'addition d'acides faibles, par exemple d'acide carbonique, acide oxalique, acide formique, acide acétique ou leurs esters et ana-logues.
Exemple.
On traite 700 gr de scories Thomas ayant une finesse de mouture d'au moins 60 my par 270 gr d'huile de lin et 60 gr d'acétate d'amyle.
Après malaxage, on obtient une masse pouvant être appliquée comme enduit
sur du fer rouillé ou intact. L'addition d'acétate d'amyle libère l'acide
phosphorique, qui agit alors comme agent de dérouillage et comme agent de
protection de la rouille en formant du phosphate de fer. On obtient une
protection supplémentaire contre la corrosion par la pellicule d'huile contenant les constituants de pigments restants.
L'acide phosphorique des scories Thomas agissant comme agent
de protection contre la rouille pouvant être libéré de ses combinaisons notamment par la chaux ou la silice, et également par l'acide carbonique, il
n'est pas absolument indispensable de traiter d'avance l'enduit par un acide faible libérant l'acide phosphorique; bien plus, l'agent de dérouillage, l'agent de protection contre la rouille et l'enduit peuvent également
consister exclusivement en scories Thomas très finement broyées, rendues
aptes à servir d'enduit de façon connue au moyen d'huile de lin, de vernis
ou analogues. La séparation de l'acide phosphorique produisant la protection
contre la rouille, a alors lieu plus tard, c'est-à-dire après l'application
de l'enduit, par l'action de l'acide carbonique de l'air. De même, l'acide
carbonique de l'air agit également sur un enduit dans laquelle l'addition
d'acides faibles ou analogues est insuffisante à libérer la totalité de la
portion d'acide phosphorique soluble dans le citrate.
L'agent de dérouillage ou de protection contre la rouille ou
la peinture conforme à l'invention, peut également contenir à côté des scories Thomas des phosphates, tels par exemple que le phosphate de sodium,
qui sont décomposés de la même manière par des acides faibles avec libéra-'
tion d'acide phosphorique libre.
Finalement, le constituant de scories Thomas dans l'enduit
peut être remplacé en tout ou en partie par d'autres scories, industrielles ou artificielles ou bien par des minerais ou minéraux dont on peut libérer l'acide phosphorique par des acides faibles. Par fusion avec de$ phosphates, par exemple avec du phosphate de sodium, on peut encore augmenter
l'aptitude de ces substances à agir comme agents de dérouillage ou de protection contre la rouille ou comme peinture.
EXEMPLE.
On broie et mélange intimement l'un à l'autre 350 gr de scories
Thomas et 350.gr de minette contenant de la chaux, à une finesse de mouture d'au moins 60 my. On ajoute ensuite au mélange 270 gr d'huile de lin et
60 gr d'acétate d'amyle, et on le malaxe jusqu'à ce qu'il puisse être appliqué comme enduit.
