SYSTEME BOBINE, COMPORTANT AU MOINS UNE BOBINE A HAUTE FREQUENCE, A NOYAU
PREMAGNETISE.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

COIL SYSTEM, INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE HIGH FREQUENCY COIL, CORE
PREMAGNETISE.
The invention relates to a coiled system, inexpensive, and suitable for mass production, comprising at least one high frequency coil, the self-induction of which must be adjusted only once.
There are a very large number of reels of this kind; most are based on the variation of the effective permeability (reluctance) of the core., due to a modification of the useful section or of the length of this core or to a variation of the air gap provided in the magnetic circuit, etc. In all these forms of construction, an attempt is made to meet a number of contradictory conditions, namely a low cost price, a large surge factor of the coil, small dimensions, and a fairly large range of adjustment, and each form of construction obviously constitutes a compromise between these various conditions.
The invention achieves a particularly advantageous compromise using prenagnetization as a means of adjusting the self-induction. In order to obtain an adjustable premagnetization, close to at least one of the ends of the core of the coil has been placed, a permanent magnet made of a material that is a poor conductor of electricity, a sliding element being provided to modify the magnetization of the core of the coil due to the magnet, the whole. so that inside the zone of displacement of this element, the self-induction always varies in the same way. The sliding element can be the magnet itself.
The description of the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be carried out, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the drawing being, of course, part of the invention. .
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show a few embodiments of a coil which can be used in a system according to the invention.
Figs. 2 and 7 illustrate the operation of these coils.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 6 shows a band filter comprising a coiled system, according to the invention.
The high frequency coil shown in FIG. 1 comprises a core 1, in the form of a rod, made of ferromagnetic material, surrounded by a winding 3. The latter is fixed, for example, using wax or varnish, in an insulating sleeve 5, threaded. A permanent magnet 7 can be screwed into the socket 5, magnetized in its longitudinal direction; in certain positions, this magnet surrounds the core 1, and causes an adjustable magnetization of the core 1.
To prevent losses from occurring in magnet 7 - which is located in the high frequency field of the coil - this magnet is made of a material that is poorly conductive of electricity (with resistivity of at least 10n.cm), with low losses by hysteresis, for example a ceramic material essentially constituted by non-cubic crystals of polyoxides of iron and of one of the metals of barium, strontium, lead, optionally calcium. The core is preferably of a material consisting of mixed cubic crystals, oxides of iron and at least two other metals which have not only low losses and high permeability (about 400) but also quite low. saturation.
Fig. 2 gives the self-induction 1 of the coil of the kind described as a function of the distance a between the winding 3 of the coil and the magnet 7. The length b of the part of the core 1 which exceeds the winding 3, and which, in some positions, is surrounded by the magnet, is 6 mm; the length ± of the magnet is 10 mm and that of the winding is also 10 mm, The thickness of the core 1 is 1.6 mm.
This graph proves that ,, in the position where the magnet 7 is applied against the winding 3, - position in which one should expect as great a saturation as possible of the core 1 - the self-induction L has a quite high value and when the magnet is removed from winding 3, this value decreases. For a distance a of about 2.5 mm, a minimum is obtained at point P after which the self-induction increases again to point S where it has practically the same value as that obtained without pre-magnetization.
This behavior can be explained if we admit that, for a distance a between 0 and 2.5 mm, the magnet 7 is more or less short-circuited by the core 1, which causes a notable attenuation of the field outside of the magnet. Beyond point P, this effect has disappeared or practically disappeared and the self-induction increases with the distance a.
Both the OP 'zone and the P'S' zone (P 'and S' are the abscissas of the points P and S), can be used for the adjustment of the self-induction of the coil, because during a displacement of the magnet in these zones, in a determined direction, the self-induction always varies in the direction, that is to say, it decreases or increases. On the other hand, the zone OS 'for example is unusable. The P'S 'zone provides the greatest variation; in this zone the described coil made it possible to obtain a variation of + 46%.
When using the area P'S ', the part b protruding from the winding 3 of the coil may be notably shorter than the magnet, the core may even be so short that it is never surrounded by the magnet. In this case, therefore only the part R'S 'of the zone P'S' is used. The magnet can then be drilled only over part of its length or, if necessary, not be drilled) however in the latter case, the shape of the curve of FIG. 2 is less regular. Fig. 3 shows another possibility in which the winding 11 has only one layer of wires while the magnet 13 has a bore large enough to slide it over the winding 11.
Fig. 4 shows another variant in which the magnet 15 is fixed relative to the winding 3 and to the core 1, while a plunger 17, for example of the same material as the core 1, can slide in the bore of the core 1. 'magnet. The variation of the premagnetization is only obtained by '
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
a more or less pronounced short-circuiting of the magnet by the plunger 17.
On the other hand, this short-circuiting effect is entirely suppressed when the magnet 19 (see Fig. 5) is radially magnetized, that is to say that the south pole for example, is formed at the inner wall of the. bore while the north pole is formed at the cylindrical outer surface of the magnet.
The forms of construction described make it possible to manufacture inexpensive coils of very small dimensions with a reasonable overvoltage factor Q = w L (w = pulsation, r = resistance of losses). This latter property is largely attributable to the fact that the coil can be wound directly, therefore without play, on the core, which makes it possible to take full advantage of the high permeability of the core. The direct winding on the core is made possible on the one hand by the great resistance of the material of the core, which makes the use of a carcass superfluous and on the other hand, by the fact that the self-induction can be adjusted without having to move the core relative to the winding.
In Fig. 2, curve 21 gives the variations of the overvoltage factor Q as a function of the setting (distance a); this curve shows that
Q is hardly affected by the setting.
The disclosed forms of construction, in which the core is therefore not movable with respect to the coil, have a still further advantage, the coil and the core can be housed in a thin sealed envelope, for example of plastic. plastic material.
The Fig-. 6 shows an M.F. band filter comprising two identical coils, each of which consists of a core 1 and a winding 3 produced in the manner described. The corresponding magnets 23 are fixed in screws 25, for example made of nylon. Around each winding, a certain number of rods 27 are arranged in the same material as the cores 1; these rods act as ferromagnetic shielding sheaths for the coils.
One of these rods 27 is located between the two coils and forms a shield between them, which makes it possible to reduce the coupling between the coils to the desired low value. This rod is premagnetized by a third tubular magnet 29, which is fixed to an insulating screw 31. This screw adjusts the permeability, determined by the premagnetization, of the central rod 27, and hence the coupling between the two coils 1 and 3. All the elements of the band filter are embedded, respectively housed, in appropriate cavities of the two identical conjugate synthetic resin tanks which connect according to the plane of the drawing (one of these tanks is visible in Fig. 6) and which are held together by a suitable mechanical shielding sleeve 35.
Each of the trays 33 has a number of solder tabs 37, which protrude from the shield sleeve 35.
Fig. 6 shows the importance of the use of magnets in material which is a poor conductor of electricity. This property in fact makes it possible to have the magnets 23 -very close to the cores 1 and to the corresponding windings 3 without any significant losses occurring, so that the fields of these magnets influence only the corresponding cores and not the neighboring rods. 27: although, owing to the small dimensions mentioned, these rods are found very close to the windings of the. coil and therefore also magnets.
As has already been mentioned, it is important that the losses by hysteresis of the material of the magnet are very low. From this point of view, it is desirable that the material satisfies a determined condition which will be explained with the aid of FIG. 7.
This figure shows part of the magnetization curve (curve BH) of a usual magnetic steel (curve I) and that of a magneti-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Permanent ceramic tick suitable for use in a conforming coil system. the invention (curve II). The points of intersection Brl and Br2 with the ordinate axis are the corresponding values of the remanent induction, while the points of intersection BHc1 and BHc2 with the abscissa axis give the values of the coercive force.
When a weak alternating field is superimposed on the permanent field of the steel magnet, the field of this magnet varies, for example in the manner shown by the loop 41 in FIG. 7; the area of this loop constitutes a measure of the losses by hysteresis. For curve 2, the corresponding loop 43 is practically reduced to a line 43, which coincides with curve II, that is to say that the losses by hysteresis are very low.
It has been observed that the Br: BHc ratio is decisive for the shape of the hysteresis loop, and for the magnitude of the hysteresis losses; the hysteresis losses are sufficiently low when the ratio B: BHc is less than 4. For permanent magnetic ceramic materials, a value can be obtained for this ratio which only slightly exceeds unity, although the resistivity is high . Such a material is therefore particularly suitable for use in a device according to the invention.
