Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF RECONSTRUCTED STONE MATERIALS AND MATERIALS
SO PRODUCTS.

The invention relates to a method capable of producing stony materials of all kinds and especially for construction, decoration and all the like. This process is applicable for the reconstruction of any material such as building limestone, marble, granite, sandstone and others.

The aim of the invention is essentially to produce reconstituted stones whose appearance is practically identical to that of natural stone while its mechanical and even chemical characteristics are improved. Thus, such a reconstituted stone will be more resistant to mechanical forces and less sensitive to atmospheric elements.

Certain processes are already known for producing reconstituted stone. In an absolutely general way, these processes only produce a block formed from a simple mixture of blocks of different sizes, fines and a binder, this mixture being triturated and molded without any other precautions than those necessary for n ' introduce in the same mixture as pieces of the same nature or the same origin.

On the contrary, according to the invention, not only is this unity in the material kept, but the procedure is such that the visual characteristics specific to the material are duly reproduced.

For this purpose, and in accordance with the invention, the waste from quarries, construction sites and / or workshops are successively purified, grouped, colored and agglomerated in order to obtain blocks of dimensions such that the stones can be sawn. according to the use to be made of it.

The waste is washed beforehand in an acidified bath which may be based on mineral acid or an organic acid depending on the nature and importance of the impurities to be dissolved. In addition, this acidic action is sought, in this case to produce rough surfaces on the waste,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

gnawed ;, facilitating the subsequent application of binding and coloring ingredients.

The waste thus washed and prepared is subjected to a water rinsing operation. Then, the waste is judiciously introduced, by hand, into the mold, arranging them correctly so as to faithfully reproduce the appearance of natural stone with its veins, its defects, its characteristic irregularities and, in general, everything else. which is visually evident in natural stone. This is also where the present process differs significantly from known processes.

When the waste is placed in the mold, the binder and dyes are poured. The binders will preferably consist of silicates and diluted lime so that, by slow drying, the vitreous mcsa @ que of natural stone occurs on the stone as well as the optical depth lines specific to certain types. stones, like marble for example.

The colors will advantageously be mineral pigments such as ochres, ground tiles, iron oxides and others. These dyes are coated in a weak solution of silicates at a rate of 1 to 30% depending on the nature and intensity of the color. Thus prepared, the dye emulsions will be mixed with the binder prepared separately and their content will be from 2 to 20% in the emulsion depending on the nature of the dye and the intensity of the coloring that is to be obtained.

Subsequently, the stones thus reconstituted can be polished.

In the accompanying drawings there is shown, as briefly as possible, the different phases of the process.

-Figure 1 shows the phase in which the waste 1 which has been washed, treated with acid and rinsed beforehand are stored in a mold 2 so as to reproduce the designs and appearance of natural stone, marble in this case .

FIG. 2 represents the casting phase of the binder 3 supplemented with the selected dyes.

FIG. 3 represents a demoulded block 4 and FIG. 4 represents a block from which a plate 5 has been separated by sawing.

We can directly mold in any form.

This process is applicable for the reconstitution of any kind of stone, of any size and in any shape.
