 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   D'autres particularités ressortent de la description suivante d'exemples de réalisation de l'invention avec référence au dessin annexé dans lequel ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  CONTINUOUS OVEN HEATED BY THE GASES OF INCOMPLETE COMBUSTION.

   The invention relates to a continuous furnace heated by the gases of incomplete combustion. that is, a furnace suitable for heating products transported gradually through the furnace, and which is heated by the gases of Incomplete combustion. Furnaces of this type are also referred to by the term semi-gas furnaces. The use of semi-gas fires for continuous furnaces has for years been almost completely abandoned in favor of "coke gas fires or blast furnace gas fires.

   The reason for this is that in known semi-gas ovens; an unfavorable distribution of the temperatures settled down. In known semi-gas ovens .. the semi = gas and combustion air were brought to the chamber of the oven which contained products to be heated.

   The invention relates to an essential improvement of this semi-gas furnace thanks to which in the future they will withstand any comparison with other types of furnace with regard to their thermal properties. and moreover will have an even more economical operation.

   According to the invention .. the furnace has a part whose vault is located much higher than the vault of the other parts of the furnace and is limited at sharp angles with respect to these other parts, and the admission of the aforementioned combustion gases ( semi-gas) is located in this raised part of the oven.

   Preferably ,,, the raised part of the oven is arranged such that the combustion of the half-gas takes place exclusively in this part.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   This part of the oven with a raised vault may be located in the central region of the length of the oven; then the semi-gas fireplace is preferably located on both sides of the oven floor, also in the central part. This is especially so when the furnace is a continuous push furnace. However, the furnace can be constructed as a push furnace with lateral diversion. In this case, it is possible to place a semi-gas hearth at the outlet end of the furnace., And introduce the combustion gases from the hearth into a part of the furnace comprising a raised vault which is located above the end part. from the oven.

   Combustion air is preferably also introduced into the raised part. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the semi-gas arrives at the end of the raised part of the vault from the sides and the pressurized air through the rear wall so that the semi-gas is completely discharged by the draft along the length of the raised part of the arch.

   Thanks to this raised part of the vault .. it is possible to obtain that the burning semi-gases are kept away from the products to be heated.

   The product to be heated passes through three zones clearly separated from one another. In the first zone, a slow preliminary heating of the product takes place. In the second areawhich is located under the raised part of the arch. the product takes the desired temperature called the normal working temperature (rolling). It should be observed that. Contrary to known embodiments, the transmission of heat to the products takes place almost exclusively by radiation, and that undesirable radiation in the other two zones is avoided by virtue of the walls raised at sharp angles of this part of the vault. The third zone is a balancing zone and serves to standardize the temperatures in the product.

   It is also possible to provide a heating zone on the end face of the furnace which promotes perfectly uniform heating of the product in the last zone and can also have oxidizing or reducing properties.

   Other features emerge from the following description of exemplary embodiments of the invention with reference to the appended drawing in which;
Figure 1 is a sectional length of an oven ,,, in a first embodiment.

   Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the same oven.

   Figure 3 is a section taken along the line III-III of Figure 2.

   Figure 4 is a vertical longitudinal section of a furnace of a second embodiment.

   Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional view of the same oven.

   Figure 6 is a section taken on line VI-VI of Figure 5.

   FIG. 7 is a vertical longitudinal section of a furnace of a third embodiment. and Figure 8 is a section along the line IIX-IIX of Figure 7.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   In the first form, of embodiments according to Figures 1 to 3. on each of the two sides of the head of a continuous pushing furnace is located a semi-gas fireplace, the gas outlets of which are brought to a raised part of the vault. On both sides, approximately in the middle of the oven, are arranged two other hearths where the gas outlets are also directed to a raised part of the vault.

   The product to be heated can be placed in one end of the oven
 EMI3.1
 by a 1D charging orifice and discharged at the other end by a discharging orifice 2. Four heaters 6 7 8 and 9.6 and 7 are provided being located at the head of the furnace while the other 8.9 heaters are located approximately in the middle of the oven. The hearths are heated with charcoal, the latter being introduced by the feed devices 17-18. Above the furnace are arranged for the entry of the semi-gas of the raised parts with sharp angles of the vault 20 and 21.
 EMI3.2

  In these parts 20 and 21 of the vault 9 open the nozzles for introducing the semi-gas 15 and 16o. In these parts of the vault the blowing inlets 19D 129 j, 13e 14 also emerge. The semi-gas therefore burns in the parts. 20 and 21. The burnt gases then flow through the furnace in the direction of the stacking orifice An additional end heater is shown at 11. From the end of the furnace, the flue gases are brought under. the hearth and directed towards the chimney by a flue 19.

   The product to be heated therefore passes through a zone 3 in the porthole.
 EMI3.3
 when it is heated to 550-6o0 C then in a zone 4 it is heated to the desired temperature of 1000-1200 C. In zone 5 is then a balancing and a regular penetration of the heat in the product. The product thus uniformly heated is then discharged in the same direction through a diversion orifice 2.

   The oven of the second embodiment. shown in Figures 4 to 6 differs from the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3 above all in that the heated product after passing through the oven is extracted laterally. Therefore ,,, it is possible to have at the end of the furnace a hearth on its end face
The product to be heated is therefore introduced into the oven through 1 '
 EMI3.4
 inlet 1 and is extracted laterally by 19 outlet port 22. In its path, it passes through the three heating zones which are
 EMI3.5
 designated by 3n 4 and 5. In zone 3 takes place a preliminary heating of the product to approximately 550-60 ± P and in zone 4 a heating takes place again to the desired temperature of 1000-1200C.

   The balancing zone 5 serves to achieve a uniform temperature distribution in the product.

  At the head of the furnace is located a hearth 26. on both sides of the furnace are si-

 killed other 8 and 9o outbreaks These homes provide the necessary semi-ggizs for heating. On the grates of the hearths, the coal is burnt by blowing under the grate by means of the air intakes 29.30 and 31. The semi-gas produced by the head hearth 26 is introduced directly into zone 5. and
 EMI3.7
 burnt in it by blowing from the top by lleenée 32. The semi-gas supplied by the side fires 8 and 9 is introduced into part 21 of the raised vault at sharp angles, and is burnt there by blowing from the top
 EMI3.8
 which is Introduced through entry orifices 33 and 31o The hotplates are equipped with automatic devices d9al: 1mentation 18p 18 and 25.

   The burnt gases are returned from the end of the furnace under the fireplaces and led to the chimney via the flue 19.
 EMI3.9
 The oven of the third embodiment shown in Figures 7 and 8 differs from the first embodiments in that the introduction of the semi-gas into the oven is significantly improved.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   According to the invention. the semi-gas is introduced into the end of the part 21 of the raised arch at sharp angles, from the side, and the pressurized air is introduced through the rear wall of the raised part of the arch. in such a way that the semi-gas is forced back by the air current over the entire length of the raised part of the vault.

   Preferably, for this purpose, the end of the raised part is, downwards, at least over the width of the semi-gas inlet orifices. separated by a screen wall from the interior part of the furnace and the pressurized air supply channel in the raised part of the vault is extended at least up to the middle of the half gas inlet openings. Preferably the orifice for supplying the pressurized air opens near, and above the screen wall.

   The product to be heated is placed in the openings 1 and is withdrawn through the orifice 22. on the side of the oven.

  On its way, it goes through the three heating zones which are designated by 3, 4 and 5. In zone 3 the product is preheated, to approximately 550-660 C.

  In zone 4, heating takes place to the desired temperature.;, Of the order of 1000-1200 C. The balancing zone 5 serves to standardize the temperatures in the product. In the central zone 4, the furnace comprises a raised part 21 of the vault.

     At the head of the furnace is shown the hearth 26, which comprises a blowing under the grid 29. On the grate of the furnace, charcoal is burned which provides the semi-gas necessary for heating the furnace. Corresponding hearths are also placed on the two. sides of the oven below zone 4.

  The semi-gas is introduced into the part of the vault 21 raised at sharp angles through side inlet ports 23 located at the end of the part of the vault 21 closest to the inlet port 1 of the furnace . The pressurized air is introduced into the part 21 of the vault by refrigerated tubes 24 which advance to the middle of the gas inlet openings 23 in the interior of the part 21 of the vault. The end of the part 21 of the vault into which the half-gas and the air enter is protected downwards by a screen 28. This screen is slightly oblique. ,, so that the outlet of the tubes 24 is close and above the screen.

   The outlet of the tubes 24 is flattened as shown in FIG. 8, so that this outlet has a large width compared to its height, Thanks to this arrangement it is ensured that the semi-gas entering through the orifices 23 is discharged over any the length of the part 21 raised from the vault and that it will not already penetrate a part of the semi-gas into the lower part of the furnace before, which would undesirably enlarge the zone 4.

  In this case, it suffices to make the screen 28 long enough for its front edge to protrude only a little beyond the outlet of the tubes 24. In this arrangement, it is advantageous that the front edge of the wall 28 is only slightly below the outlet of the tubes 24.
