   SULZER FRERES, Société Anonyme, résidant à WINTERTHUR (Suisse) , DISPOSITIF CHASSE-NAVETTE POUR METIERS A TISSER.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   SULZER FRERES, Société Anonyme, residing in WINTERTHUR (Switzerland), SHUTTLE HUNTING DEVICE.

   The present invention relates to a device for hunting the shuttle of weaving looms, the hunting lever of which is fixed in a removable manner and launches the shuttle under the action of a force accumulator previously armed, generating the force of hunting, after triggering of a shuttle lock.

   The invention consists in fixing the hunting lever on a rotary shaft actuated by the force accumulator by means of a clamping coupling which transmits by adhesion the torque generated by the accumulator.

   According to a solution known in the upper hunting looms, a plate which has a U-shaped groove is fixed on the hunting shaft, into which the end of the hunting lever penetrates and in which it is clamped. These trays have the drawback of being relatively large and therefore taking up a lot of space.

   According to a solution known in the shuttle-grip looms, the hunting lever is provided with a square hole and a square is placed at the end of the elastic torsion bar forming an axis of rotation. Due to the positive or negative accelerations and the considerable forces involved when the shuttle is chasing and the hunting device is braking, this coupling mode not only undergoes significant efforts, but also the direction of effort varies several times during a cycle. Coupling by means of a square or a wedge therefore has the disadvantage of loosening over time; so that the position of the hunting lever relative to the shuttle varies.

   If the flush lever is too far to the left, a gap will form between the flushing bucket and the shuttle which should normally be against each other. This game gives rise to shocks and noise. If the-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 The hunting lever is too far to the right, the shuttle does not arrive smoothly and risks damage as well as the cleat. A loose coupling cannot be remedied by repair, but it can only be replaced and both components of the coupling must be replaced for this purpose.

   Clamp couplings are known per se. Concerns have arisen regarding their application to the transmission of considerable forces, in the form of shocks, to the hunting levers, since it was considered that a relatively large offset must occur relatively quickly between the hunting lever and the hunting lever. elastic bar or the rotating shaft and that, consequently, it would be necessary to re-adjust the position of the hunting lever often, thus increasing the duration of the periods of immobilization of the loom.

   But it has been found that this assumption is false, and that as a result one can fully benefit from the advantage of the clamp coupling of not being able to loosen. In addition, even if there is a slight offset, it still occurs in the form of play between the hunting cleat and the shuttle and consequently the aforementioned disturbance and possible damage to the hunting cleat and the shuttle are impossible. In addition, this play can be made up very quickly by removing the coupling, re-adjusting the position of the shuttle lever and tightening the coupling, without having to replace any part.

   In the accompanying drawings, which show embodiments of the invention in schematic form:
Fig. 1 shows part of the shuttle flushing device, the flushing lever of which is clamped.

   Fig. 2 shows the clamp coupling, on a larger scale.

   Fig. 3 is a diagram of the variation of the forces to be transmitted by the clamping coupling.

   Figs. 4 and 5 show other embodiments of the clamp coupling.

   The boot 1 of the hunting device, fixed in a manner not shown on the frame of the loom, contains a hollow shaft 2 mounted on the outside in spans 3 and carrying the hunting lever 4, which is coupled. at its upper end by a journal 5 with a connecting rod 6, the connecting rod 6 surrounds the hunting cleat 7 arranged on a slide 8.

  The slide 8 is movable on a rail 9, mounted in a fixed position on the box 1. The head 10 of the hunting cleat 7 rests on the rear end of ... the shuttle 11, which is still in the shuttle lifter in hunting position. The guide teeth 13 which are fixed with the comb 14 on the flap 15 form the path of the weft, when the flap 15 is in its posterior position corresponding to the introduction of the weft thread. Its mounting device and its control are considered to be known ..- and therefore are not shown.

   The lower end of the flushing lever 4 comprises a sleeve 17 forming a clamping coupling, for the removable fixing of the flushing lever 4 on the shaft 2, and which is tightened by means of screws 18. The shaft 2 is hollow and contains inside an elastic torsion bar 19 which has at both ends grooves in the form of teeth 20. At the end of the left side a complementary toothing is cut inside the rotation shaft 2- and at the end of the right side this toothing is cut in a flange 21 fixed on the * boot 1. - The hollow shaft 2 has in the middle a lever arm 22, which is articulated by a pin 23 with the connecting rod 24 of the articulated support device 24, 25. The double lever 25 rotates around a rotation axis 26 mounted on the box 1.

   The upper arm is articulated with the connecting rod 24 by a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 pin 27, and the lower arm by a pin 28 with the piston 29 of the brake.

   The double lever 25 also carries a roller 31 which cooperates with a cam 32 mounted on a shaft 33. The shaft 33 is actuated in a manner not shown by the main shaft of the loom, coupled by means of a clutch with the control motor, so that the shaft 33 makes one revolution by inserting the weft thread. The other elements of the trade which are not part of the invention are not shown. In the support position, the articulated support device 24, 25 is retained by a lock, the lever 37, keyed on a shaft 38. The shaft 38 is rotatably mounted in a bearing surface 39 disposed on the box 1 and is actuated by a transmission so as to trigger the launch of the shuttle 11.

   The operation is as follows:
While cam 32 rotates in the direction of the arrow
40, the lever 25 is pushed from left to right and the lever arm 22 from bottom to top, until the articulated device 24, 25, passing beyond the right passing through the axis 23 and l axis of rotation 26 arrives in the support position shown. In this position the lever 25 rests against the two arms of the locking lever 37.

   The lever arm 22 upwards rotates the shaft 2 counterclockwise, At the same time as the shaft 2 the left end of the elastic torsion bar 19 has turned. Since the right end of the elastic bar 19 is embedded in the flange 21 and cannot rotate, the rotational movement of the shaft 2 has the effect not only of bringing the flushing lever 4 to its end position. running to the left, launch position, but also to wrap the elastic bar 19 which serves as a force accumulator.

   As soon as the raised portion 41 of the cam 32 releases the roller 31, the articulated locking device 24, 26 can be released by the rotational movement of the shaft 38 or of the locking lever 37 counterclockwise. 'a watch, because the upper arm of the lock 37 pushes the joint through the axis 27 from right to left, until the axis 27 has come far enough to the left of the junction line 64 so that the knee lever 24, 25 folds up.

   Once the latch 37 has been released, the force accumulated in the torsion bar 19 becomes free. Shaft 2 rotates at a very high speed clockwise. The hunting force is then transmitted by the torsion bar 19 to the shaft 2 and by the coupling element 17 of the shaft 2 to the hunting lever 4. The hunting cleat 7 pushes the shuttle 11 from left to right by passing it between the guide teeth 13 and the weft thread gripped by the clamp 42 of the shuttle 11 is pulled into the shed. The lever 25 and consequently the whole of the hunting device is braked by the brake piston 29 an instant before the hunting lever 4 arrives in its end-of-travel position on the right.

   The hollow shaft 2 may have longitudinal slots at the place of tightening, which make the end elastic and when the bush 17 is tightened the place of tightening of the shaft 2 is strongly clamped on. toothing 20.

   Fig. 2 shows on a larger scale the clamp coupling of the hunting lever 4. A play in the teeth 20 of the elastic bar 19 and of the shaft 2 has no influence on the correctness of the position of the hunting lever 4 relative to the shuttle 11, since this position is determined by the support hinge 24, 25 and the latch element 37.

   On the diagram of fig. 3 the values of the torques to be transmitted by the clamping coupling between the periphery of the shaft 2 and the bore of the sleeve 17 of the flushing lever 4 are plotted on the ordinate during a cycle between an insertion of the thread. frame and the next.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   Before hunting, between points e and a, after the elastic torsion bar 10 has been banded and held by the shaft 2 or the articulated device 24, 25, only the teeth 20 is under load between the ex - end of the torsion bar and the hollow shaft 2; on the other hand, the clamping coupling of the sleeve 17 is completely unloaded and does not have to transmit any torque at this time.

   However, as soon as the articulated device 24, 25 is urged to the left by the locking lever 37 for the hunting of the shuttle, the torsion bar relaxes and accelerates the movement of the hunting lever 4 by the. intermediate toothing 17. It follows that the torsional or friction torque to be transmitted during hunting accelerates very rapidly from a zero value at point a (fig. 3), up to its maximum, to cancel out again at point b. The speed of the hunting lever 4 is then slowed down very rapidly by the brake assembly 29, 30. The coupling 17 is therefore subjected to a retarding or negative moment which is located below the axis of the abscissa of fig. 3 and which, starting from b, reaches a maximum of zero value in ±.

   At the point it hunting lever 4 is stationary and the torsion bar is relaxed.

  The hunting lever then moves from the end-of-travel position to the right that it currently occupies to its end-of-travel position to the left, preparatory to hunting. This movement takes place under the action of the cam 32. The movement of the lever is accelerated first of all to point d then slows down from point d to point e, the value of the maximum torque reaching during this interval. a fraction of the maximum during the interval between points a and c. From point e, all the elements occupy the position in which they are before hunting.

   Fig. 3 shows not only the forces due to impacts exerted with high acceleration forces between points a and c, but also the repeated change of the direction of these forces within a hunting cycle, and which, in the case of a wedge connection, could easily give rise to play when the shuttle is chased.

   According to fig. 4, the torsion bar 45 itself constitutes the axis of rotation of the hunting lever 4, the lower end of which, the eye 46 is clamped against the flange 47 of the bar 45 by means of a nut48, so that the hunting force of the bar 45 is transmitted only by the adhesion between the flange 47 and the eye 46 of the hunting lever 4. The hunting lever 4 comprises an appendage 49 which is applied against the member 50 mounted on the shaft 51. The shaft 51 rotates like the shaft 38 of FIG. 1, in an anti-clockwise direction under the action of a flushing trigger command. As soon as the appendix 52 frees the appendix 49, the hunting lever 4 can turn under the action of the banded torsion bar 45 and launch the shuttle, not shown.

   Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of the clamp coupling. The lower end of the flushing lever 4 comprises a socket 55, pierced with a conical hole 56. A clamping piece 58, the outer surface of which is also conical and which has a slot 59, is wedged on the shaft 57. The sleeve 55 is threaded onto the clamping piece 58 and pushed from left to right by means of a nut 60 which screws onto the clamping piece 58. The conical hole 56 has the effect of tightening the clamping piece 58 and to wedge it on the one hand on the shaft 57 and on the other hand in the hole 56, so as to transmit by the adhesion thus obtained the hunting force of the shaft 57 to the hunting lever 4. L shaft 57 can be mounted in the same way as shaft 2.

   The force accumulator can consist of a traction spring or a compression spring which is coupled on the one hand by a keyed arm on the shaft 57 with this shaft and can be fixed by its other end. an adjustable way on the box. This spring can be loaded as before by a cam as in fig. 1.
