<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

TABLE WATER POLO GAME.
The object of the present invention is a new table game, of the type in which tilting figures plugged into transverse rods and representing players divided into two camps, are maneuvered by the opponents by means of these rods to throw in. the opposing side a ball representing a game ball.
According to the invention, the figurines plugged into the operating rods are arranged on a bowl intended to be filled with water to represent a game of water polo. In addition, the upper part of each figure is shaped like a spoon to pick up the ball floating on the water and to throw it above the water when the figure is tilted with the aid of the operating rod. It is advantageous to provide in the upper part of the figurine, or in the ball, a small magnet whose role is to attract the ball into the spoon when it is within range of the latter and thus avoid 'it can be carried away by the eddies of the water before being plucked by the spoon.
So that the water does not overflow from the bowl into the housing of the device when it is agitated by the movements of the figurines, there is provided along the bowl, on each side of it, an extra bucket - full intended to collect the water which crosses the edge of the basin, lined internally with a breakwater.
On the other hand, the bowl is provided at each end with a niche-shaped goal or goal, the bottom of which is pierced with a hole in which the ball-sent to goal falls. To this hole is connected an evacuation duct intended to bring the ball into the casing of the apparatus and to bring back into the bowl the water which has entered the hole. Internally, this duct laat fitted with a strainer forming a guide for the ball and allowing water to flow through a connection of the duct to the bowl.
In order for the invention to be fully understood, it will be described below
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
an embodiment, shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 shows in perspective a water polo game according to the invention,
Fig. 2 is a cross-section on a large scale, taken along the line II-II of FIG. 1,
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section on a large scale, taken along line III-III of FIG. 1, and
Fig. 4 shows schematically, in perspective, the evacuation duct of a game goal.
In the drawing, 1 designates the figures representing the players, 2 their operating rods, 3 the basin containing the water 4 in which the lower part of the figures is normally immersed, and 5 the case in which the basin 3 is housed, covered ice cream 6.
To allow the figures 1 to be moved both transversely to the bowl 3 and longitudinally to the latter, longitudinal slots 7 are made in the sides of the bowl 3, and the sides of the housing 5 are provided. slides 8 in which are guided ball bearings 9 through sliding by the rods 2 which carry the figures.
Along the side slits 7 of the bowl, at the lower edge of which the water 4 is flush with the water 4, there are provided, inside the bowl, breakwaters 10 serving at the same time as stops for spring shock absorbers. 11 limiting the lateral movements of the rods 2, and on the outside of the bowl, overflow buckets 12 serving to collect the water which, having crossed the breakwaters, would overflow from the bowl 3 through the slits 7. Each trough is surmounted by a funnel 13, a lip of which runs along the corresponding slot 7, and the two troughs are of different depth and connected to each other by a tube 14 so that the water collects in the trough. the deepest where it can be returned to the bowl by a suitable pump, not shown.
The head 1a of the figurines 1 is hollowed out like a spoon in order to pick up the floating ball 15 on the water when the figurine is tilted as shown in the lower part of FIG. 3, and throw it over the water towards the opponent's goal when the model is upright. To keep the ball to be picked within good reach of the figurine, it or the head of the figurine advantageously contains a small magnet, not shown in the drawing.
At the two ends of the bowl 3, slightly above the water level, there are niches 16 representing the goals and the bottom of which is pierced with a hole 17. The ball sent to the goal falls into the hole 17 where it is received on a strainer formed of three curved rods 18 leading to a duct 19 towards which the ball is guided by these rods while the water projected into the hole 17 with the ball passes between the rods 18 in a bowl 20 and a branch 21 which brings it back into the bowl 3. The conduits 19 of the goals lead to a receptacle 22 in the housing 5, from where. the bale can be picked up, for example by the intervention of a coin-operated mechanism.
The invention provides a new and ingenious game, quite distinct from so-called "kicker" table football games from which it borrows only the mode of actuation of the figurines using rods on which they are plugged.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment and to the details of embodiment described and shown by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
