<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a method for the construction of a liner in a mine shaft filled with a dense liquid, wherein the liner provided with a bottom is fed into the shaft and lowered, in the state. floating, to the bottom of the well, by lengthening the lining at its upper part and possibly making it heavier by the introduction of a liquid, the lining then being connected to the bottom of the well by cementing or by a method of analogous link, as described in Belgian patent no.449.982
When digging deep wells, it is preferred to drill with a dense liquid rather than to drill in pre-frozen overburden because, when the last-mentioned process is applied, it is extremely difficult to obtain, at greater depth,
a closed frozen wall with sufficient strength around the projected well
In addition, the method of drilling with a dense liquid has the advantage of allowing a very simple establishment of the coating.
The forces acting on the lining increase with the depth of the well. To this must be added that, in deep wells, it is necessary to cut down the protection massif, if we do not want too large a part of the minerals opened by the well to be left untapped.
This leads to additional stresses on the lining of the well, so that it is necessary, at least at a greater depth, for the wall of the lining to be thicker. However, the weight of the coating may become too great to float it in the well, so that at greater depths the dense liquid drilling process encounters difficulties.
The subject of the invention is a method for coating mine shafts, this method making it possible to descend the coating, even in the case of great depths, into a well dug according to the method of drilling by dense liquid: In the method according to l The invention was based on the principle that, during the descent of the coating, the latter must only absorb the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid in the well, which pressure is considerably lower than the ground pressures occurring as a result of the mining of open minerals.
According to the invention, a relatively thin-walled liner is first lowered into the well, the thickness of which is such that the liner has sufficient buoyancy and withstands the hydrostatic pressure encountered in the well, after which, the liner being connected to the liner. bottom of the well the thickness of the lining wall is increased by the construction of an internal lining, so as to be able to withstand the expected pressures of the ground.
When the exterior lining is constructed of reinforced concrete, a good bond between the lining lowered into the well and the interior lining built later against this lining is obtained, according to the invention, by providing the first lining with reinforcing bars which protrude inwardly from the lining wall, so that these bars are introduced into the interior lining. During the construction of the interior lining, the reinforcing bars of this lining may be suspended from said bars, protruding inwardly, from the exterior lining.
When the base of the liner is fixed in the carboniferous, the liquid from the well is displaced by the usual process by supplying filler material between the wall of the well and the liner, so that the liner is in contact, along its entire length. , with overburden.
In the process according to the invention, this is difficult, because the coating can then be subjected to unforeseen stresses which the relatively thin outer coating cannot withstand. If the interior lining is built without more, it may be, after removing the liquid from the exterior lining, that the buoyancy of the lining is increased in such a way that, under the effect of the pressure exerted by the liquid which has infiltrated under the bottom of the coating due to the lack of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
If the bond between the base of the liner and the bottom of the well is bonded, the bond between the base of the liner and the wall of the well is interrupted, so that the liner floats.
According to the invention, when the coating lowered into the well is connected to the bottom of the well, the bottom of the coating is perforated or a closable orifice formed in said bottom is open, while the liquid flowing through this orifice is pumped out. . The liquid penetrating through the non-waterproof parts into the cemented bond and the quantity of which is naturally quite small, then enjoys a possibility of relaxation, so that below the bottom of the coating, it will not be able to establish pressures. so high that the connection is interrupted and the coating floats.
It is only after the installation of the interior lining that the dense liquid in the well is displaced in a manner known per se, by the introduction of a filling material, such as for example concrete, clay or bitumens, between the lining and the wall of the well.
The invention will be explained further below, with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown in the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a well during the assembly of the outer covering; - Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of a well in which the outer coating is completed; - Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of a fully revota well, and - Figure 4 is, on a larger scale, a section of the lining wall.
In the aquifer overburden (1) having a large thickness, a well 2 was drilled by the drilling method, the collapse of the well wall during drilling being avoided by keeping the well filled with a liquid of a sufficiently high specific weight, for example of a clay suspension. The well is drilled into the carboniferous 3. In the well filled with liquid, we descend a reinforced concrete lining which is closed by a bottom 5. The thickness of the lining wall is such that the lining floats on the liquid in well and is strong enough to withstand the hydrostatic pressure in the well. The lining wall thickness may decrease upwards, since the hydrostatic pressure is lower at a higher level.
At its upper part, the coating is lengthened by pouring concrete into a formwork, for example in the manner described in Belgian patent No. 449,982, while through tube 6 is then introduced liquid 7 inside the coating, to lower it regularly into the well.
When the lining 4 has descended to the bottom of the well, the base of the lining is anchored at 8 in the rock 3, by introducing cement through downpipes between the lining and the wall of the well. Then the stop valve 9 adjustable remotely and closing an orifice 10 made in the bottom of the coating; is open so that below this bottom, there can be no liquid pressure and that the liquid possibly entering through the cement connection 8 can be evacuated. The liquid 7 inside the coating and the liquid flowing there through the orifice 10 are pumped out.
The inner lining 11 can then be constructed, which is cast against the outer covering and the thickness of which is such that the total thickness of the wall is sufficient to withstand the expected pressures of the ground. The outer covering is provided with a reinforcement 12 and reinforcing bars 13 which, during the casting of the outer covering, extend, parallel to the wall of the covering, to the surface of the concrete, as
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Indicated in broken lines in Figure 4; for mounting the interior coating, these bars are straightened so as to achieve a good bond between the two coatings. In addition, the bars 13 can serve at the same time for the suspension of the frame 14 of the interior lining.
After mounting the inner liner, the wall thickness of which will generally increase towards the bottom, a filling material, for example bitumens 15, is fed between the wall of the well and the outer liner 4, after which the bottom 5 can be removed and the well can be dug deeper into the solid rock 3.
EXAMPLE OF IMPLEMENTATION.-
In a well with a depth of 600 m, filled with a clay slurry with a specific weight of 1.2, a reinforced concrete lining is poured, the outside diameter of which must be 8 m and the wall thickness near the bottom of 1.5 m, taking into account expected ground pressures.
Since the average specific weight of reinforced concrete is 2.5, the weight of the coating per running meter is # (82 - 52) x 2.5 = 76.6 tons.
4
The vertical pressure that the coating encountered in the liquid is # x 82 x 1.2 = 60.3 tons / m, so that it is not possible to climb
4 coating in the usual manner.
We therefore begin to mount an outer covering, the wall of which is 100 cm thick, in the well. His weight is ..He-.
2 2 (8 - 6) x 2.5 = 55.0 ton / m "so that this coating floats.
At the deepest point in the well there is a hydrostatic pressure of 600 x 1.2 = 720 kg / cm2. With the casing pumped out, this hydrostatic pressure will produce a tangential compressive stress of approximately 280 kg / cm2 in the reinforced concrete, which, for good concrete, is below the breaking limit.
Then, at a distance of 50 cm from the inner wall, the formwork for the inner lining is mounted, after which concrete is poured into it, until the desired wall thickness of 1.5 m is obtained.
CLAIMS. l.- Process for the construction of a lining in a mine shaft filled with a dense liquid, in which process the lining provided with a bottom is brought into the well and lowered, in a floating state, until than at the bottom of the well, by lengthening it and, optionally, by increasing it by introducing liquid, the coating being connected to the bottom of the well by cementing or by a similar method of connection, characterized in that a coating with relatively thin wall, the thickness of which is such that the lining has sufficient buoyancy and can withstand the hydrostatic wall to be overcome in the well, is first lowered into the well after which said lining being connected to the bottom of the well, the coating wall thickness is increased by the construction of an interior coating,
