Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The present invention relates to a device for supplying an oil burner by overflow of the oil under the effect of a constant level difference giving rise to an adjustable flow rate by variation of the passage section. offered with fuel oil between a constant level valve and the overflow threshold.

Devices of this type have already been proposed in which the overflow threshold is located in the burner itself, that is to say at a distance which, most often, is relatively large. In order for the above-mentioned difference in level to correspond to that for which the burner has been adjusted, it is therefore necessary to carefully mount the valve in relation to the burner relatively far from it.In addition, the fireplace must be placed level on the ground , which is for many stove makers, an operation they consider delicate.

Furthermore, even when the stove maker takes care to carry out the assembly correctly, he encounters difficulties due to the distance between the valve and the overflow threshold as well as to the interposition, between these elements, of the wall of the fireplace in which the burner is placed. In addition, accidental movement of the fireplace can cause the valve to be out of adjustment.

The present invention relates to a supply device of the aforesaid type which does not however have these drawbacks.

To this end, in the device according to the invention, the overflow threshold is mounted on the same support as the valve, next to the latter and an oil flow duct in contact with air is provided from this threshold up to where the fuel oil falls into the burner.

The result is that the overflow threshold is very close to the fuel oil flow rate adjustment member and that the leveling of the valve, independently of the position of the firebox, ensures the proper adjustment of this valve as it has. been carried out in the factory. By the fact that the fuel oil which passes the overflow threshold then flows towards the burner in a duct where it is surmounted by air, the difference in level between the inlet and the outlet of this duct has no influence on the flow, provided that the slope is sufficient to ensure the continuous flow of fuel oil that passes above the overflow threshold.

In order to facilitate the connection of the device to the burner and its disconnection during the periodic assembly and disassembly of the latter, a simple means of connecting this device has also been provided.

To this end, the latter is characterized in that the support of the valve has an arm provided with a shoulder on which rests a bowl fixed to a duct which connects it to the valve, in that a bell provided with an overflow pipe is pressed against said bowl, with the interposition of a deformable seal and in that said bell is in communication with the atmosphere above the overflow threshold.

Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically represent, and by way of example only, one embodiment of the supply device according to the invention.
FIG. 1 is, after partial sections, an elevational view of an embodiment of the device according to the invention.

Figure 2 is a plan view of the device according to Figure 1
The supply device shown is used to supply an oil burner, not shown, into which the oil is discharged through a pipe 2. The oil flows into the latter in a thin layer while being in contact with air. . This duct 2 receives the fuel oil by overflowing it above a threshold 3 which is at a determined level 4 below another level 5 kept constant by an appropriate device. This last level is, for example, that at which the fuel oil is maintained in a valve 6 by a

at the overflow threshold through 1.W conduit 7 The overflow threshold 3 is mounted laterally on the same support as that of the valve 6a next to it. The result is that it is easy to position the valve so that the height provided between levels 4 and 5 is respected By the fact that the fuel oil which overflows above threshold 3 flows freely in the air from this threshold into
 EMI2.3
the bxû.leur9 a difference in level, even significant between the threshold and the end of duct 2 from which the fuel oil falls into the burner, cannot influence the flow rate.

The valve is carried by a support 8 provided with means for ef-

easily perform his. leveling, which makes it possible to obtain just as easily the expected difference between levels 4 and 5. This support is, for example carried on the one hand by a rod 9 with respect to which it can

oscillate slightly in two perpendicular directions and, on the other hand, by two springs 10 arranged around threaded rods 11 which can be screwed more or less into fixed bushings 12.

These two rods are arranged 1 'with respect to each other in a direction perpendicular to that passing through the axis of the rod 9 and midway between them
The support 11 has an arm 13 provided with a shoulder 14 on which rests a bowl 15 fixed to the conduit 7, which connects the latter to the valve 6. A bell 16 provided with a tube 17 whose bottom is at the level of the overflow threshold 3 is pressed against said basin 15, with inter-

The conduit 2 is a flexible conduit which is clamped to the tube 17 by a collar 240 A chute 25 is provided below this tube to collect the few drops of fuel oil which flow when the bell 16 is removed.
