The present invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing fittings or fixing devices for pipes.
This invention has, ultimately, the subject of: - an apparatus which enables the very easy manufacture of elbow pipe fittings or fasteners starting from straight tubular blanks, while retaining the entire naroi resistance of the tubular product; - an apparatus for making fittings or fixings of this kind and which allows obtaining a high production yield.
The detail features as well as the economy of the present invention will become apparent during the description which follows.
There is shown in the accompanying drawing, purely as an indication, an embodiment-ureter. On this drawing :

The advantage of shaping plumbing fittings and the like of forged or stretch-drawn metal to cast parts has been recognized for a long time, not only from the point of view of the manufacture of fittings to be cast. 'a minimum noids of metal, but also of, .., anointed in view of the tightness of the sealing joints which is much better than that of the cast nieces.
The present invention relates to an apparatus which allows a

very ranid production of a uniform product starting from a tubular n-piece practically without erosion, and without n-nnning or weakening of the noses of the starting tubular product. The apparatus shown is very satisfactory nour the implementation of the process and we will describe the, .., bases of the process by describing the year “areil.. On the accompanying drawing, 1 represents the sole and 2 the head of the process. a

A punch or similar machine that is used while simply locking the matrix elements together and relocating one of these matrices to the other.
The die elements 3 and 4 have additional recesses 5 in the form of angled channels which coonulate to form a cylindrical tubular shaping recess, generally designated by the numeral 6, when the die elements are formed. closed and locked between sole 1 and head 2. Die 3 is fixed to the sole, while die 4 is fixed to the head using an Allen locking screw such as
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
as indicated in 7, so that the dies open and close when the head moves back and forth.
The tubular blank 8 is formed by a section of tube the length of which is equal to that of the connection to be obtained. The blanks should advantageously be made of copper or a copper alloy, but they are new! be made of any other ductile metal, including steel. The blanks are placed in open dies and the closing of these dies produces a closed and bent recess, one of the branches of which comnorte, inside it, the blank (see fig. 4 and 5). This blank is fully supported by the walls of the recess of the dies and, during its longitudinal sliding, it fits inside this recess.
The control plunger niston 9 is slidably mounted inside the recess of the dies and it has an end of reduced section 10 terminating in a notch 11. Part 10, of reduced section, penetrates inside the die. the blank, as shown in FIG. 5, and its flange 10 comes into abutment with the blank. The part 10, which penetrates inside the blank, prevents sagging of the nose of the blank at its rear end when the plunger is controlled.
The plunger piston is provided with a niece 12, constituting a core and made of an elastic material, capable of being bent and bearing a screw 13 embedded at the outer end of said element; screw is screwed into the threaded hole 14 of the plunger niston. This core is advantageously made of rubber and it comnorte an inner part 15 of conical or rounded shape. The core has a length and a diameter such that the core itself and the portion of reduced section of the lengthening niston completely fill the blank.
The nlongeur counter-niston 16 is slidably mounted in the other branch of the die recess. This counter-niston 16 comprises, at its inner end, a recess 17 which receives the end of the rod 18 which is articulated at 19 on the niston nlongeur. The other end of the connecting rod 18 is fixed inside the recess 20 of the uss head 21. The uss head 21 has a curved face 22 which is susceptible to come in '1') with the front or adjacent end of the blank, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. The head 21 is of a diameter such that it is in support contact with the naroi of the recess and with its elbow when it occludes its nosition the protruding nlus, as shown in the figure. fig. 5.
In this nosition, the nucleus is a '1') eu comnrimé. This compression of the nucleus is sufficient to force the material of the nucleus to support the naroi of the blank.
When the nieces occunce the nosition shown in fig. 5, the niston nlongeur 9 is ordered and the niston nlongeur 16 is subjected to a force or a counter-gravity such that it maintains the head 21 in support contact with the front end edge of the niece, and the stroke of the plunger niston 9 is such that the tubular niece is partially forced through the bent niece of the die recess, as shown in fig. 6.
During this stroke, the rear extreme edge of the blank is supported by the plunger 9, while the front extreme edge, that is to say the advancing edge, is supported by the head 21 of the miston plunger 16. -This results in the formation of an elbow connector 23 (see fig. 2) which is new to use in this form or of which the ends are newly widened at 24 by another shaping operation which gives rise to the connector 25.
The apparatus responsible for carrying out the enlargement 24 has not been shown, since it does not form part of the invention. Part 23 is obtained without any cracks.,
The walls are of uniform thickness from end to end, i.e. there is no jamming or backflow. It is preferable that the tubular blank 8 has a uniform diameter and a uniform wall thickness.

The sounane 44 is adjusted to obtain the desired supply pressure on the plunger 9, while the discharge valve 42 is adjusted to obtain the desired back pressure or back pressure on the niston nlongeur 16.
The counter pressure on the plunger 16 must be such that it keeps the head 20 in support contact with the front center end of the blank when it snaps into the elbow made in the recess of the dies and, in fact, until the end of the race, but it is clear that it should not be such as to prevent the trailing race.

We rewire a pneumatic device "to order the miston length 9 'and tie anniiquer a counter-pressure on the plunger 16, or we move on the niston nlongeur 16 a counter-pressure using a spring or analog device ..
The apparatus shown is a practical apparatus for the practice of the present invention. The principles of the process are clearly

described in conjunction with the apparatus T ') art1culie shown. Although the core member is advantageously dead without being controlled, as this greatly increases the speed of the operation, it may consist of a senar element to be inserted and removed. It must however
EMI3.6
be susceptible to bending and be of sufficient strength to tie support the blanks of the blank when the blank is forced into the die recess.
The inter-pressure death device presented is highly effective and desirable, but it is understood that another device cannot be used.
