Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to a device for mounting a luminescent tube in a casing closed by a pivoting cover, in which the tube is mounted behind this cover on a reflector support which pivots with respect to the casing and which carry the tube supply balast on the opposite side to that where the tube is located.

   Devices of this type are known in which the cover pivots along one side of the housing while the reflector support pivots along the opposite side. With these devices, the ballast and the wiring to be inspected or checked. repair are suspended between the support and the cover so that the worker is hampered in his work by this cover.

   The present invention relates to a device for mounting a luminescent tube which does not have this drawback.

   To this end, in the device according to the invention, the pivots of the aforesaid reflector support are located approximately in the middle of the width of the casing.

   As a result, when the balast has to be examined, it is located below its support and not between the latter and its cover.

   In the present specification, whenever it is a question of support for a luminescent tube, it should be understood that this support can also carry several luminescent tubes.

   In the case where the aforesaid reflector support is in the form of an inverted cup in which the tube is mounted and on the outside of which the balast is located, the pivots are located near the edge of this bowl while the latter is held in the service position by stops which can be moved away from the path followed by the bowl when the latter is rotated to make the ballast accessible.

   In another embodiment, the balast is mounted on the aforesaid pivoting support so as to urge the latter to pivot about its pivots when it is in its service position. De.plus, a fixed stop is provided on the housing, on one side thereof, to prevent this pivoting.

   According to another feature of the device according to the invention, each of the aforementioned pivots is engaged in a buttonhole allowing lateral displacement of the reflector support at the same time as its pivoting, in order to facilitate its release during the housing.

   Other features and details of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically represent, and by way of example only, some embodiments of the device according to the invention. .

   FIG. 1 is a perspective view from bottom to top, after partial breaks, of an embodiment of the device according to the invention embedded in a ceiling.

   Figure 2 is, on a larger scale, a cross section in the device according to Figure 1 after having rotated the luminescent tube holder to a position suitable for inspection or repair of the balast and wiring.

   Figure 4 is a section similar to that of Figure 3 after the cover has been opened and the luminescent tube holder has been moved to a position suitable for the work.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   Figure 5 is a side view, cut along the line V-V of Figure 30
FIG. 6 is a cross section in a third embodiment of the device according to the invention.

   In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.

   The device shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a casing 2 embedded in a ceiling 3. This casing can be closed by a cover 4 which is shown in its open position. This cover pivots with respect to the housing 2 along one side thereof.

   In the housing 2, is mounted a support 6 for luminescent tubes 7 This support plays at the same time the role of reflector. In service, it is presented in the form of an inverted bowl inside which the tubes are mounted. Outside this cuvette, there is the electrical equipment used to supply the tubes and generally called "balast". This is designated by 8.

   The reflector support 6 pivots with respect to the housing 2 around pivots 9 located approximately in the middle of the width of the housing.

  In the case of Figures 1 to 3, these pivots are, moreover, situated near the edge of the bowl 6. The latter is held in the service position by stops 10 which can be moved away from the bowl. path followed by the bowl 6 when the latter is rotated in order to make the balast 8 accessible. These movable stops 10 are formed, for example, by blades which can be brought parallel to the axis of the pivots 9. These stops are shown in Figures 1 and 2 in the position they occupy to prevent pivoting. bowl 6.

   In the embodiment shown in Figures 3 to 5, the ballast 8 is mounted on the reflector support 6 so as to urge the latter to pivot about its pins 9 when it is in its service position shown. in FIG. 4. This support is then held in this position by a fixed stop 17 provided on the casing 2 on one side of the latter.

   If the support 6 is rotated in the opposite direction to this one in which it is requested by the ballast in its service position, that is to say if it is rotated in the direction of arrow X from the position shown in Figure 4, it can be brought to a position such as that shown in Figure 5 for which a projection 18 of this support abuts against the housing 2. In this position, the balast has been brought below the support 6.

   In the embodiment of -figures 3 to 5 the cover 4 protrudes strongly from the casing 2, the bottom 19 of which is itself pressed against the ceiling 3. This cover can be held tightly against the housing. the casing 2 by means of a seal 20 made of deformable material such as rubber. This seal is pressed between the casing 2 and its cover 4 by means of nuts-21 bearing against a flange 22 of this casing and screwed on threaded rods 23-articulated with respect to the frame 11. Notches 24 are provided in the flange 22 along one of the sides thereof in order to allow the release of the corresponding threaded rods when the nuts 21 have been loosened.

   The sealing gasket 20 is embedded in the rim of the housing 2 so as to remain in place when the cover 4 is opened.

  In the embodiment shown in Figure 6, each of the pivots 9 is engaged in a buttonhole 25 allowing lateral movement of the support 6

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 at the same time as its pivoting around these pivots, in order to facilitate its release from the casing 2. Such an arrangement is chosen when the depth of the casing 2 is less than half the width of the support 6.

   The buttonholes 25 can also be given a length greater than that necessary to allow the pivoting of the support 6 and the parts which it carries, in the casing 2 In this case, the accessibility to the balast is increased when this - this is suspended from the pivots 9 by means of the support 6
In the position in which it is shown, the support 6 is held in place, on the one hand, by the fixed stopper 17 and, on the other hand, by a screw
26 which prevents it from moving sideways in the housing 2.

   The cover 4 is mounted in a sealed manner against the rim 22 of the housing 2 by means of a seal 20 embedded in the frame 11 of this cover. The support of the seal 20 against the rim 22 is achieved by means of screws 27 screwed into this rim. This frame 11 is integral with pivots 28 which can slide in buttonholes 29 parallel to the screws 27 in order to allow crushing of the gasket 20 ensuring the sealing of the cover. Another seal 30 is interposed between the glass of the cover and the frame thereof.

   It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments represented and that many modifications can be made, in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of certain of the elements involved in its realization, provided that these changes not conflict with the purpose of each of the following claims.
