<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

REVENDICATIONS

The present invention relates to household appliances for chopping, grinding or sifting food, comprising a container or calender provided with a perforated bottom in elastic contact with which moves the lower edge of a compression member of the helical type driven in rotation. by the axis of a journaling crank in a bearing area formed in the center of the perforated base and, most of the time, in a diametrical crosspiece carried by the container.
The improvement according to the invention consists in providing the outer wall of the calender with a household appliance for chopping, crushing or sifting, at at least three preferably equidistant points, with tilting appendages capable either of slipping against the calender or the bottom of the device, or to straighten up to a position substantially perpendicular to the axis of the compression member, so as to serve as supports intended to rest on the edge of a container in view to limit the penetration of the caliper inside the latter.
The purpose of this improvement is to allow the user to use, to receive the material treated in the household appliance, a small container. deep or large diameter, thanks to the support on its edge of the upright tilting appendages, which can be arranged so that the apparatus remains almost completely outside the container, i.e. a sufficiently deep container and on the edge of which can rest the grille of said household appliance in the case where it is frustoconical, while the appendages, eclipsed, in this case, along the grille, then present only a very minimal space requirement.
The possibility of eclipsing the appendages makes it possible to reduce the size of the apparatus with a view to its packaging or its storage, for example.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the appendages are provided with adhesion pads intended to rest on the edge of the container, thus preventing damage to the latter.
The invention will moreover be better understood with reference to the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a side view, showing in the position of use a tilting appendage, carried by the wall of a household appliance, FIG. 2 is a front view thereof, FIGS. 3 and 4 are schematic sectional and plan views showing the use of the improvement which is the subject of the invention, FIG. 5 is a plan view of the cut flat part intended to form by bending the support of one of the eclipsable appendages, 'FIG. 6 is a perspective view of this support forming an articulation, FIG. 7 is a side view showing a variant of tilting appendage provided with a rubber pad, FIGS. 7a and 7b show this same appendix respectively in section through VIIa-VIIa of FIG. 7 and by VIIb-VIIb of fig. 7a, FIG.
8 shows another variant according to which the appendage is mounted oscillating at the lower part of the grille, FIG. 9 shows in plan the folding under the bottom of the household appliance of three appendages conforming to that of FIG. 8, fig. 10 shows a notched shoe, FIG. 11 shows a variant of a notched shoe,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
fig. 11a shows this shoe engaged with a narrow edge and with a square edge, FIG. 12 shows a second variant of the pad, FIG. 12a is a view similar to FIG. 11a, and fig. 12b shows this skate engaged with a rolled edge.
As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the improvement object of the invention consists in providing a household appliance 1 intended to chop, grind and sift food with at least three tilting appendages such as 2a, 2b, 2c arranged at 120 one of the other. mounted on the outer wall of the apparatus, in the bur to allow, in the raised position 2, to place said apparatus 1 above any container 3 intended to receive the worked material, making it rest on the edges of this receptacle through these three appendages.
It should in fact be noted that, in the use of said household appliances, the user can use a container 3 which is insufficiently deep or of a diameter such as the distance h between the bottom of this container and that of the device 1 is too small and that there is therefore not sufficient space to receive the material treated.
Each of the appendages provided 2 is, according to a preferred embodiment (fig. 1 and 2), constituted by an iron having the shape of a stirrup 4 at the ends 5 and 6 curved at right angles outwards, in order to constitute articulation pins, to be engaged in two mating bearing surfaces 7 and 8 of a support 9 in the form of a yoke attached to the wall of the calender 10.
Each of the supports 9 in the form of a clevis consists of a metal plate cut out in the general shape of a U (fig. 5) which is then bent so as to obtain (fig. 6) on the one hand, two spans semi-cylindrical 7 and 8 in the branches 11 of the U and a slightly detached portion 12 in the median flat portion 13 forming the bottom of the U.
This support 9 is applied to the outer wall of the calender by its four bearing surfaces: two lower 14 and two upper 15 and joined together by electric welding or any other means.
The two curved ends 5 and 6 of the stirrup 4 are introduced into the bearing surfaces 7 and 8, by pressing the two branches of the stirrup one against the other, thanks to their elasticity and kept apart in the said litters.
The appendix 2 can therefore, at the choice of the user, occupy either a: retracted position (drawn in phantom in fig. 1 and 2) along the wall of the calender, or a raised position and remain in this raised position, without falling back by its own weight, as shown in fig. 1 to 4.
Part 12 of the support, by virtue of its shape, constitutes a stop preventing the appendage 2 raised from exceeding the substantially horizontal position shown in the drawing. It should be noted that the length of the appendages 2 makes it possible to place the apparatus 1 on the edge of the container 3 in an eccentric position, and that the development is at least equal to the diameter of the large base of the calender.
Figs. 7, 7a and 7b show a variant of a stirrup 4a with substantially parallel branches, like the previous one, made of round wire and between the legs of which is inserted to form an adhesion pad 16 made of rubber or the like provided with longitudinal grooves. 17 (fig. 7a) intended to receive said legs. The initial spacing of the branches is such that the pad is forced into them and remains slightly compressed when the ends
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The caliper's square tees are engaged in the yoke-shaped support in order to increase its stability in each position, as has already been explained.
The rubber grip pad prevents the caliper from slipping during use on the edge of the container and damaging it.
In the embodiment of FIG. 8, the support 9 in the form of a yoke is carried by the wall of the container 10 in the vicinity of the bottom 20, which makes it possible to raise the shell considerably and to increase the useful capacity of the container. The end of the stirrup 17, provided with a pad 21 of rubber or the like and its branches are folded back at right angles respectively at 18 and 19. In the non-use position, the stirrups 17a, 17b and 17c ( Fig. 9) are folded under the bottom 20.
In FIG. 10, the pad 22 comprises parallel notches 23 intended to be placed astride the edge of the container, the distances between these notches corresponding to the differences between the rods existing between the most common types of containers. Chamfers 24 facilitate installation.
In fig. 11, the notches 25 are inclined, which ensures a true anchoring when the edge of the container is completely inserted in the notch, FIG. 11a shows such a pad in engagement with the right edge of a container R1 and with the square edge of a container R2.
Finally, fig. 12 shows a caliper provided with a pad 22 which differs from that which has been shown in FIG. 10 in that it comprises a bottom in the form of a groove 25. This arrangement allows its adaptation not only on the right edge of a receptacle R1 or on the angled edge of a receptacle R2 (FIG. 12a) but also on the rolled edge of an R3 container (fig.
12b).
It should be noted that during the interlocking of the calenders one within the other generally adopted for transport, the part of the pad opposite to that which comes into contact with the edge of the container is studied to bear against. the wall of the grille of the interlocking device which prevents metal-to-metal contact.
