Fig. 3 est une vue en coupe du dispositif, suivant la ligne 3-3 de la Fig. 2 ;
Fig. 4 est une vue partielle de détail montrant le bala- deur en position de commande manuelle ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

"Electromechanical control mechanism"
The present invention relates to an improved control mechanism with an electromechanical device of the type comprising an electric motor with two directions of rotation and a worm gear reducer and tangent wheel, this device being intended to move a controlled member between two limit positions, for example the valve of a tap between fully open and closed positions.,
This mechanism is remarkable in particular in that the worm is keyed soothing on a driving shaft driven by the motor and is arranged between a fixed stop integral with said shaft and an elastic stop,
so that it is capable of moving a certain length along said

shaft during the blocking of the tangent wheel meshing with the screw due to a resistance offered by the controlled member and it is linked to a switch of the motor supply circuit, so as to stop this motor when it is moving. along said shaft, against said elastic stop.
Preferably, the mechanism comprises, as known, a manual drive device in parallel with the electromechanical device, and a keyed player sliding on a driven shaft and making it possible to engage at will on this driven shaft either one or the other. other of the two devices, and according to the invention there is, in this case, provided an erasable locking device to ensure the retention of the player in the position.

IL leading erases this .spos3.t3.f de verdui7, .age and thus automatically engages the electromechanical device, under the action of this return spring, as soon as the electric motor is supplied.
Other characteristics will result from the following description.
In the accompanying drawing, given only by way of example:
Fig. 1 is a view, in partial axial section, of a gate valve to which the control mechanism according to the invention is applied;
Fig. 2 is a median section, on a larger scale than that of FIG, 1, of the mechanism according to the invention, perpendicular to the axis of the worm of the reducer, the shaft driven by the motor being assumed seen at the end;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the device, taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 2;
Fig. 4 is a partial detail view showing the balancer in the manual control position;
Fig. 5 is a diagram of the electric motor control circuit.
Reference will first be made to FIG. 1 which represents, to better fix ideas, an application of the electro-mechanical control mechanism on a valve 1 whose shutter 2 is driven by an operating via 3, this screw being screwed into a threaded bore forming a nut, of the shutter.
The screw 3 is extended upwards by a driven shaft 5.
On this shaft is keyed, at, 6, a sleeve 7. The latter rotates in the bearings 8 and 9, fixed on covers 10 and 11 of the housing 12 of the mechanism. The sleeve 7 is held, at its ends, by abutting against the bearings 8 and 9 which immobilize it along the shaft 5.
On the sleeve '7 is sliding keyed a player 13.
This is provided: on the one hand, on its upper face, with a toothed crown 14 intended to mesh with a pinion 15 which is integral in rotation with a shaft 16 journalled in a bearing 17, fixed on the housing 12, /. ' and which is driven by a handwheel 18; 'and, on the other hand, on its other face, a dog gear 19 (FIG. 4), intended to engage with a conjugate crown 20 carried by a helical gear 21 of an electromechanical device, this wheel 21 being mounted to rotate freely on the sleeve 7 and immobilized in axial displacement between a shoulder 22 of said sleeve and the pad.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
bind 8.
The player 13 is subjected to the action of a spring 23 working in compression and arranged around the sleeve 7, between the upper face of the player 13 and a plate 24, fixed on this plate for example by welding at 25, such so that, under the action of 'this spring, the dog rings 19 and 20 are engaged. moreover, the player 13 has a groove 26 in which are engaged the two branches of an operating fork 27, mounted oscillating by a journal 28 on the housing and capable of being actuated by a hand lever 29, keyed on said journal 28 and the operation of which makes it possible to slide said sliding member 13 upwards, against the compression spring, 23, with a view to separating the dogs 19 and 20 and to engage the crown 14 with the pinion 15 .
The helical wheel 21 meshes with a worm 30 which is slidably keyed on a shaft 31 orthogonal to the shaft 5 and journaled in bearings 32 and 33 (Fig.3) forming a stop. This screw 30 is applied against a shoulder 34 of the shaft 31 by a coaxial spring 35 working in compression and bearing on the stop formed by the bearing 33.,
The leading shaft is rotated directly by an electric motor M, with two directions of rotation, and the housing of which is fixed laterally on the casing 12.
In order to lock the player 13 in the high position shown in FIG. 4, for which the crown 14 meshes with the manual drive pinion 15, the fork 27 is provided with a nose 36, intended to engage under stops 37 or 38 forming a hook arranged at one of the ends of
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
one or the other of two retaining pawls 39 and 40, articulated on the same axis 41.
The stops 37 and 38 are slightly offset in height relative to each other, the stop 38 being for example closer to the axis 41 than the stop 37; they tend to be applied elastically against the spout 36 by curved leaf springs 42 and 43 bearing on a wall of the card 12. ' The other ends of the pawls 39 and 40 cooperate, respectively, with projections or pins 44 and 45, fixed on the driving shaft 31 of the worm 30.
These studs are wedged 1800 'from each other on this shaft and offset longitudinally by a distance corresponding to the distance between the pawls 39 and 40.
Thanks to this snap-in device, the player 13 is therefore likely to take two positions.
In one of these positions, which corresponds to the electromechanical control and is shown in FIG. 2, the stops 37 and 38 of the two pawls are applied against the nose 36 of the fork 27 by their springs 42 and 43, while their other ends are at a distance from the shaft 31 greater than the height of the pins 44 t 45 Note that the beak 36 is not engaged under the stops 37 and 38, the sliding gear 13 is subjected to the action of the spring 23 and the dogs 19 and 20 are engaged while the gears 14 and 15 are separated. As a result, the helical wheel 21, driven in rotation by the worm 30 and the motor M. is secured in rotation to the shaft 5 and to the operating screw 3 which follows it.
In the other position of the walker 13, the position shown in FIG. 4 and corresponding to the manual control, said player being moved upwards by the operation of the lever 29 against the spring 23 which is compressed, the stops 37
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
and 38 pawls are engaged above the nose 36 of the fork 27; If neither of the two pins 44 or 45 is in contact with the respective pawl 39 or 40, the fork 27 is locked by the pawl 39 which is the lower. As a result, the gears 14 and 15 are engaged and the crowns 19 and 20 separate and that the operating screw 3 can be rotated by the handwheel oj control 23.
Note that if for some reason one of the pins 44 or 45 was in line with the pawl 39 or 40, this pawl being thereby erased, the locking of the fork 27 and consequently of the player 13 can still take place thanks to the other ratchet offset in height. This is the reason for the two pawls. there is shown in FIG. 6 the electrical diagram of the installation.
The motor M is supplied by two parallel circuits 46 and 47, each connected to the end terminals of a blade reversing switch 48. The circuit 46 corresponds, for example, to the supply of the motor in the direction of opening of the blade. 'valve 1 and the other, 47, to that in the closing direction.
In circuits 46 and 47 are connected in series, respectively, microswitches 49 and 50.
The microswitch 49 is actuated (Fig. 2) by a cam 51, keyed on a shaft 52 journaled in a bearing 53 of the housing 12. This shaft 52 is driven in rotation by the driven shaft 5 by means of a pinion 54, integral with the shaft 52 and engages with a toothing 55, formed at the periphery of the spring support plate 24, plate fixed at the end of the sleeve 7. The shaft 52 also carries an indicator arrow 56, movable behind an opening 57 of the housing.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
As for the microswitch 50 (FIG. 2), it is actuated by a cam 58, integral with a lever 59 that a spring 60 maintains applied against the rear edge of the screw 30.
These two microswitches and the cams which actuate them are arranged such that: on the one hand, the microswitch 49 cuts the circuit 46 for one of the limit positions of the controlled member, in this case for the full position opening of valve 2 (Fig. l); on the other hand, the microswitch 50 cuts the other circuit 47, after, the controlled member having occupied the other limit position (that of closing of the valve 2 in the example of FIG. 1), the screw 30 has moved along the shaft 31, as a result of its bearing on the wheel 21 then locked in rotation.
The operation of the mechanism, assumed to be applied to the control of the gate valve of FIG. 2, is the following, we will assume the valve wide open and the mechanism in electro-mechanical control position. The two parts 19 and 20 of the dog clutch are engaged. The reverser 48 is engaged on the circuit 47. The motor M is started and it drives the endless screw 30, and, through the wheel 21, the sleeve 7 and the shaft 5, the operating screw. 3 in the direction which moves the valve 2 to the closed position. - When this valve 2 comes into contact with its seat (Fig. 1), resistance is opposed to the continued rotation of the operating screw. 5 and, consequently, of the tangent wheel 21.
This stops and the motor M is still running, the worm 30 rests on the wheel 21, which blocks the valve on its seat and then screws onto said wheel by compressing the spring 35. Au during its translation, the screw 30 drives the end of the lever 59 which rotates around its axis
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
by driving the cam 58 in the direction of arrow 1'1 until the latter actuates the microswitch 50 in the direction of opening of the circuit 56, which stops the motor M.
The mechanical characteristics of the spring 35 as well as the setting of the cam 58 on its axis are chosen such that, when the engine is stopped, the compression of the spring 35 causes a predetermined locking torque of the screw. maneuver 5.
Note that the above device also comes into play in the event that a foreign body or any other reason prevents the normal closing of the valve. to open the valve, the inverter 48 is engaged on 1circuit 46. The motor M; whose. poles' are reversed, pst started in the opposite direction to the direction of its previous rotation.
Initially, the worm 51, which is' subjected 'to the action of the compressed spring 35,' is screwed again in the opposite direction onto the helical wheel 21 until it comes into contact with the shoulder 34 shaft 31, From this moment, it is immobilized in translation and again drives the helical wheel 21 and the valve 2 in the opening direction (arrow f2), during from this 'movement' the lever 59 returns to its initial position and the cam 58 closes the microswitch 59: the circuit 47 which corresponds to the closing of the valve is closed again.
During the opening of the valve, the toothed ring 55 drives the pinion 54 and the arrow 56 which acts as an opening indicator. Simultaneously, the cam 51 rotates with the shaft 52 and it is wedged on this shaft, as has already been specified, in such a way that when the valve 2 is or-
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
green, this cam opens circuit 46, which stops the M motor.
Note that the dead time at the start, during which the worm 30 does not drive the helical wheel 21, allows the N motor to start and consequently to develop its maximum torque when the valve 2 is detached from its seat. .
As we have seen above, the operation of the lever 29 makes it possible, in the event of a power failure, to disengage the electro-mechanical control and to operate the valve by means of the handwheel 18, the corresponding position of the player. being locked by one of the pawls 39. or 40 regardless, at the time of movement of the player 13 by means of the fork 27, the position of the pins 44 u as oh a u above. to switch back to electromechanical control, it suffices to start the muleta in the desired direction, using the reverser 48. it will be assumed that at the moment of starting the engine the two clicks 39 and 40 are engaged above the spout 36, the latter being locked by the stop 38 of the pawl 40.
During the rotation of the shaft 31, if the pin 44 lifts the pawl 39, nothing happens. As the rotation continues, the stud 45 after a half-turn clears the pawl 40 and the spout 36 rises slightly but is again locked by the stop 37 of the Pawl 39, which is located above the stop 36. In This position, the spout 56 then escapes any subsequent locking of the pawl 40, which after passage of the stud 44, simply abuts without catching on the external surface of the spout 36.
After a further half-turn of the shaft 51, the stud 44 again lifts the pawl 39 thus definitively unlocking the spout 36, which frees the slide 13 and allows the resistor.

comes out 23 to bring this player back to the position of FIG. 2.
As can be seen, the unlocking of the spout 36 is always possible after at most one and a half empty turns of the shaft 31.
As can be seen, the mechanism allows, thanks to the screw 30, moving axially and controlling the microswitch 50, to stop the motor in the direction of closing of the gate valve, when the valve 2 resists its displacement. , either when it has reached its seat, which gives the certainty of total closure of the valve, or in the event of an untimely accidental shutdown which results in stopping the engine and prevents any deterioration of the valve. mechanism that could occur if the motor M continued to run.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown and described, which was chosen only as an example. Although the invention has been shown in its application to the control of a gate valve, it is obvious that the mechanism is capable of being used for the control of any member or device which must be moved al- alternatively in two opposite directions, whenever it is to be possible to stop or interrupt travel in one of the two directions when the load imposed on the electric drive motor reaches a given predetermined value.
