  " PROCEDE POUR L'OBTENTION DE FILS CREPES DE MANIERE
PERMANENTE ET TEINTS EN FIBRES TEXTILES ORGANIQUES
SYNTHETIQUES ".-

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  "PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING CREPED WIRES IN AN
PERMANENT AND DYED ORGANIC TEXTILE FIBERS
SYNTHETICS ".-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

It is known to impart permanent crimping or crimping to yarns made from synthetic organic textile fibers, by first subjecting these yarns on spools to an abnormal over-twist, then subjecting them in this state to a steam treatment in. in order to fix the permanent deformation and finally by untwisting the threads until normal twist. It has also already been proposed to subject yarns continuously to a transient over-twist using a false twist device and to crimp them in this manner.

   Because of the thermoplastic nature of these threads. synthetic, it is practically hardly possible to subsequently dye these threads, because the treatment with the aid of the dye bath at the high temperatures to be employed for this purpose and often at a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure risks destroying in largely rippling or creping. The dyeing of the yarns prior to the creping process, in the form of hanks, is relatively complicated, time-consuming and therefore uneconomical, because of the unwinding and winding process required for this purpose.

   The object of the present process is to obtain, continuously, synthetic yarns which are crimped or wavy in a permanent manner and dyed, this process making it possible to dye the yarns at the same time as their creping.

   The subject of the invention is therefore a process for obtaining corrugated or crimped yarns ae permanently and dyed in synthetic organic textile fibers, by temporary over-twisting of the smooth yarns twisted normally or not twisted using a device for false twisting, this

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 method being characterized in that the yarns are led before the over-twist through a suspension or aqueous solution of dye, after which these yarns are possibly pre-dried and subjected to the strongly twisted state in action, for a short time. duration, of hot gases or vapors, possibly at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure.

   Thanks to the action of the hot gases or vapors on the strongly twisted threads, the mechanical deformation of the latter is fixed, just as the dye is simultaneously fixed in the fiber.

   The effect of the process according to the invention is surprising, because, when operating continuously with a false twist device, while working in part at high speeds for advancing the yarn, it is obviously not possible. count only on a very short action of heat, this duration being generally only a few seconds.

  The specialist could not therefore foresee in any way that such a short-lived action of heat would suffice to fix the dye in the fiber and at the same time to obtain good uniformity of the dye.

   In the practical execution of the process, the yarn coming from the feed device first passes through a tank containing the suspension or dye solution, after which the yarn arrives at a first advancement device which takes the shape of a pair. of rolls, then passes successively through a heating channel or a steam treatment device, a cooling zone, the twist member of the false twist device and finally a second pair of rolls serving as a control device. advance of the wire. Between the first pair of cylinders and the twisting member, the yarn is then in a strongly twisted state.

   Leaving

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 the second pair of cylinders, the wire is fed to a die @ or on spools. The twisting member of the false twisting device communicates to the yarn, on its path between the first advancement device and the twisting member, a transient twist of the order of about 1000 to 5000 turns per meter depending on the title some thread.

   The hot-setting of the wire in the strongly twisted state is advantageously carried out using a gaseous medium, the temperature of which is 150 to 30 degrees below the melting temperature, this gaseous medium which may, for example, be constituted by hot air, superheated water vapor or hot inert gases. When using p @ lya- midic son based on hexamethylenediamine and acid @ ..que, these son are advantageously subjected to the action of a gaseous medium brought to a temperature of 190 to 210 ° C. that when polyamide yarns based on epsilon-caprolactam are used, the temperature of the gaseous medium is preferably 165 to 185 C.

   Further, the attachment can be accomplished by treatment with water vapor at at least one atmosphere and preferably at 3-5 atmospheres. The duration of the fixing treatment can, in general, be up to 30 seconds and is preferably 1 to 10 seconds.

   The present invention relates firstly to polyamide yarns, in particular those prepared from hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid or those prepared from epsilon-caprolactam. However, the invention is equal. This can be applied to other synthetic organic textile fibers, for example to those based on polyvinyl (polyacrylonitrile fibers) and those based on polyesters.

   The yarn may be subjected to a strong transient twist either in the direction of its original twist or in the opposite direction, beyond the point of zero twist. Moreover, a

 a number of individual yarns, for example two or three, may be subjected to strong transient twisting and may be dyed together using the false twist device. In addition, two dyed yarns, one of which has been subjected to a strong transient twist in the Z direction and the other of which has been subjected to a strong transient twist in the S direction, may subsequently be twisted together until normal twist. in the Z or S direction.

   As dyes which can be used for polyamide yarns, mention may be made essentially of acid dyes, acidic complex dyes, direct dyes and acetate silk dispersion dyes. For polyester based yarns, acetate silk dispersion dyes and vat dyes are most suitable. Finally, for yarns of polyacrylonitrile fibers, the acetate silk dispersion dyes and the soluble sodium salts of sulfonated esters of leuco-dyes of vat are most suitable.

   To the solution or suspension of dyes, swelling agents for the fibrous material can be added, especially acids, such as formic acid, acetic acid, haloacetic acids, salicylic acid. , as well as phenol, cresol, resorcinol, phenol-pt cresol-sulphonic acids, phenylphenol, etc. The addition of such swelling agents has the effect, on the one hand, of increasing - limit the absorption of dye by the fibrous material and, on the other hand, ensure greater permanence of the crimping or waviness.

   The following examples will serve to further illustrate the invention.

    EXAMPLE 1.-
A nylon thread spun from the product of polycon-

In the strongly twisted state, the yarn is then treated for 3 seconds with saturated steam under a pressure of 5 atmospheres.

   This gives a yarn dyed pink and wavy or crimped intensively.

    EXAMPLE 2.-
A 30 denier, 10 fibril nylon yarn twisted at 120 turns per meter in the Z direction is uniformly impregnated with a dye liquor containing, for example

 liter, 40 gr of the dye called "Artisidirektblau SAP concl '(acetate silk dispersion dye, manufactured by the firm Sandoz AG in Baie) and 15 gr of soap, after which the yarn is dried and subjected to strong momentary twist up to 5000 revolutions per meter in direction S on a false twisting device. In the strongly twisted state, the yarn is treated for six seconds with saturated steam at a pressure of 4 , 5 atmospheres.

   A second wire is treated in the same way, except that it is subjected to strong torsion in the reverse direction, that is to say up to 5000 turns per meter in the Z direction, on the device. false twist. The two wires temporarily over-twisted in reverse directions are then twisted together up to 120 revolutions per minute in the S direction.

   The strongly crimped and strong elastic twisted yarn thus obtained exhibits a uniform blue tint.

EXAMPLE 3.-
A polyamide yarn of the "Perlon" L type, made from epsilon-caprolactam, having a count of 60 denier, having 10 fibrils and twisted at 26 turns per meter in the S direction is impregnated uniformly with the aid of. a solution heated to 80 ° C. and containing, per liter, 40 grams of the dye known as "Telonlichtrot BL" (see example 1), whereupon this wire is strongly twisted, temporarily, up to 3700 turns per meter in direction Z-in a device for false twisting.

   The yarn is then subjected, in the strongly twisted state, to the action of saturated water vapor for 4 seconds, the vapor being at a pressure of 1.5 atmospheres.

  A strongly crimped or wavy red thread is obtained.

   EXAMPLE 4.-
A 60 denier "Perlon" L yarn, employed as described in Example 3, is passed through a dye bath heated to 75 ° C. and containing, per liter, 10 grams of oil soap. and 35 g of the dye called "Artisildirrektblau SAP conc." (acetate silk dispersion dye from the firm Sandoz A.G. in Baie), after which the yarn is subjected to strong transient twisting up to 3800 turns per meter in the Z direction in a false twisting device. The yarn in the strongly twisted state is treated, in a pressure tube, with saturated water vapor, for 8 seconds, under a pressure of 1.5 atmospheres. A blue yarn, strongly elastic and intensively is obtained. wavy or creped.

   EXAMPLE 5.-
A 75 denier, 36 fibril "Tervlene" yarn twisted at 50 turns per meter in the Z direction (polyester fiber based on polyethylene glycol terephthalate) is passed through a dye bath containing, for example. liter, 30

 gr of dye called "Perlitonrubin BB" (dispe @ sion dye from Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik in Ludwigshafen) and then uniformly pressed, dried and strongly twisted, temporarily, up to 3440 turns per meter in direction S in a false twist device. In the strongly twisted state, the yarn is treated for three seconds with steam at a pressure of 4.5 atmospheres. A light ruby red thread, typically crimped or wavy, is thus obtained.

   EXAMPLE 6.-
A 75 denier 30-fibril "Orlon" yarn twisted 14 turns per meter in the Z direction (polyacrylonitrile fiber) is impregnated uniformly with a dye bath heated to 60 degrees and containing , per liter, 50 gr of the dye called "Celanthrene rouge brilliant" (this orant of dispersion of silk with acetate from the firm Du Pont de Nemours & Comp., in Wilmington, United States of America) and 20 gr soap, after which the yarn is dried and temporarily twisted up to 3300 turns per meter in the S direction on a false twist machine. The strongly twisted yarn is then heated for six seconds at 170 ° C. The crimped yarn thus obtained exhibits a red, dull tint.

   EXAMPLE 7. -
A 75 denier, 30 fibrils and twisted "Orlon" thread at 40 turns per meter in the Z direction is first leached in a bath containing, per liter, 2 g of fatty alcohol sulfate and 0.5. gr of calcined soda. The leached yarn is then uniformly impregnated with a solution heated to 70 ° C. and containing, per liter, 50 g of the dye called “Indigo-solgrau JBL” (sodium salt of the sulfonated ester of a leuco-colo - tank rant made by Durand, Hoguenin SA in Baie) and 20 gr of sodium nitrite, after which the wire is twisted through

 up to 3300 revolutions per meter in S direction in a false twisting device. At 1! strongly twisted state, the wire is heated for 4 seconds at 180 C.

   For the development of the dyeing, the yarn is treated, after the false twisting process, for 10 minutes, at 60 ° C. with 2% sulfuric acid, then rinsed well and dried. This gives a gray, wavy or crimped yarn.

   EXAMPLE 8.0
A yarn of "Terylene" with a count of 75 denier, 35 fibrils and twisted at 50 turns per meter in the Z direction is impregnated uniformly using a bath heated to 80-90 C and containing, per liter, 40 g of the dye known as "Artisildirektblau SAP" (see example 4) and 10 g of soap, after which the yarn is pressed and twisted up to 3400 turns per meter in the S direction in a false twisting device.

  In the strongly twisted state, the yarn is subjected, for 4 seconds, to the action of hot air at 220 C. After leaving the false twist device, the yarn is led rapidly through a bath. of hot soap and finally again through a bath consisting of warm soft water. The resulting wavy yarn is soft and very elastic, while it / dyed light blue.

   EXAMPLE 9. -
A nylon thread with a count of 40 denier, 13 fibers and twisted at 100 turns per meter in the Z direction is led through a bath heated to 80 C and containing, per liter, 50 g of the so-called dye. "Acetamine yellow N" (silk dispersioh dye with acetate from the firm Du Pont de

 false twist, the thread in the strongly twisted state being then heated for 3 seconds at 210 C. A second thread is treated in a similar manner, except that it is twisted at 3700 turns per meter in direction Z on the false twisting device.

   The two threads are finally twisted together at 100 turns per meter in the S direction. A yellow thread is obtained, very elastic and strongly crimped or crimped.

   EXAMPLE 10.-
A yarn of "Perlon" L with a weight of 60 denier, 10 fibrils and twisted at 26 revolutions per minute in the S direction is uniformly impregnated using a dye bath containing, per liter, 40 g. of the so-called "Perlitonblau B" dye (silk acetate dispersion dye from Badische-Anilinf Soda-Fabrik in Ludwigshafen) and 10 g of salt.

  After that, the yarn is temporarily twisted up to 3400 turns per meter in the Z direction on a false twist device. The yarn is then heated in a strongly twisted state for 10 seconds at a temperature of 150 C. A strongly crimped or crimped blue yarn is obtained:
EXAMPLE 11.-

 a temperature of 140 C. The strongly crimped yarn obtained exhibits a uniform orange tint.

     EXAMPLE 12.-
A nylon thread of 70 denier count, comprising 23 fibrils and having a twist of 30 turns per meter in the Z direction is moistened with a solution containing, per liter, 10 g of the dye. referred to as "Neolanbraun GG" (acid chromium complex dye from Ciba AG in Bay), after which the yarn is dried and twisted up to 3300 turns per meter in direction 3 in a false twisting device. The yarn is then heated in the strongly twisted state for 4 seconds at 200 ° C. A strongly crimped yarn with crimped and beige tint is obtained.

     EXAMPLE 13.-
A 75 denier denier "Terylene" yarn comprising 36 fibrils and having a twist of 50 turns per meter in the Z direction is uniformly impregnated with an aqueous dispersion containing, per liter, 30 gr of the so-called "Indanthrenblau GCD colloisol" dye (vat dye from the company Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik in Ludwigshafen), after which the yarn is dried and temporarily twisted up to 3400 turns per meter in direction S in a false twisting device. In the strongly twisted state, the wire is heated to 225 ° C. for 8 seconds. In this way, a strongly crimped yarn of a blue tint is obtained.

   EXAMPLE 14.-
A nylon yarn spun with the polycondensation product of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid having a titer of 70 denier, having 23 fibrils and having a twist of 30 turns per meter in the Z direction is conducted through an aqueous solution maintained at 70 C and containing, per liter, 50 g of the dye called "Azorubi-

 bine ", Color Index 194, 50 g of phenol and approximately 1 g of the wetting agent called" Ultravon F.A. "(high molecular weight benzimidazol sulfonate from the firm Ciba A.G. in Baie).

  After that, the wire is temporarily twisted up to 3000 turns per meter in the S direction in a false twisting device. During this last operation, the wire is heated to 180 C with hot air for 1.5 seconds. This gives a yarn of pink color and intensively crimped.

   By adding phenol to the dye bath, the attachment of the dye to the fiber is improved and the creping permanence is increased.

   EXAMPLE 15. -
A nylon thread spun from polyhexam- 'hy- leneadipamide, having a titer of 70 denier and comprising 23 fibrils is carried through a bath heated to 80 ° C. and containing, per liter, 40 grams of the dye named. - "Cibacets phirblau G" (Pr.62) (acetate-containing silk dispersion dye from / Ciba AG in Baie), 20 gr of finely divided p-phenylphenol and 2 gr of a product referred to as "Ultravon FA (high molecular weight benzimidazol sulfonate from Ciba AG in Baie) as a wetting agent.

   Next, the yarn, still in the wet state, is twisted up to 3000 turns per meter in the S direction in a false twisting device, the yarn being during this operation heated with the aid hot air at 195 C for 1.5 seconds. A blue-dyed yarn is obtained which exhibits intense crimping or crimping.

   The addition of p-phenyl-phenol improves the fixation of the dye to the fiber and increases the permanence of creping.
