Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 'où ils doivent être employés. L'épaisseur mentionnée n'est donnée qu'à titre d'indication. En règle générale, on peut dire que l'épaisseur ne doit pas dépasser la moitié de la largeur de l'élé- ment. A son tour, la largeur peut, si c'est possible, être un multiple de l'épaisseur. L'emploi de ces éléments deconstruc- tion permet alors d'obtenir de grands avantages.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

   The growing activity which has manifested itself in the field of construction in recent years has given rise to much research in the construction industry to simplify the execution procedures with a view to reducing manpower. and consequently reduce the cost of the building.

   The exterior and interior walls in various types of buildings currently being constructed are executed mainly in masonry using building blocks, for example brick and lightweight concrete. As a general rule, these cobstructions requiring any type of plastering The process

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 mentioned has certain disadvantages, among which the following can be mentioned: Regardless of the care taken in the construction of the work, the strength properties of the building blocks are generally not fully taken advantage of.

  As an example we can mention that a wall 25 cm thick constructed of lightweight concrete blocks 50 cm long and 25 cm high having a resistance of 65 kg / cm2 does not carry a load greater than 30 kg / cm2 or even less, depending on the construction of the joints.

   The thermal insulation properties of lightweight concrete blocks also cannot be fully exploited, as the joints reduce the insulating properties of the finished wall.

   For the execution of masonry and plastering works, considerable quantities of water are incorporated into the walls and consequently also into the building. These quantities of water must be removed by drying, which prolongs the duration of the work and consequently increases the cost of the building.

  As a result, during the winter period, the execution of the masonry is often dangerous, which gives rise to a relatively large increase in the cost of the building.

   Thus, if it were possible to completely or partially eliminate the masonry, a great saving could obviously be made. For this purpose, attempts have been made in the lightweight concrete industry to produce concrete elements of the height of one storey for the walls. The elements produced for this purpose have a thickness corresponding to the thickness of the walls, that is to say usually 15 to 25 cm. The width of the bodies is 50 cm and their side edges are provided with seni-circular grooves.

   During the construction of walls by means of such elements, these are raised side by side and in such a way that the semi-circular grooves together form circular vertical ducts in which a mortar of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 cement or other bonding agent used as grouting material.

   Due to the large dimensions of these elements, it is difficult to transport and raise them due to their weight. In addition, the elements must be divided or else elements of special dimensions must be used, generally in the openings of the walls, for the doors or the windows, for example.

   However, not only the methods applied for the construction of the walls of a building have certain drawbacks, but also the methods employed for the execution of floors and roofs have certain weaknesses.

   For floors and roofs, two types should be distinguished depending on the nature of the materials used, namely those made of wood and those made of stony materials.

   As far as wood is concerned, the labor required is considerable and in addition, the quantities of very expensive premium natural materials are extremely high.

  On the other hand, the construction has certain drawbacks due in particular to the fact that these materials are combustible, that they do not have the qualities of a good sound insulator, and that they are subject to rotting and other destruction in because of their organic composition.

   In addition, a wooden floor always "moves" as a result of movements resulting from various circumstances, including humidity and temperature.

   With regard to floors made of stony materials, they can also be classified into two main groups, namely those which are executed in the form of a massive reinforced concrete construction and those which are formed from beams of different kinds together with hollow blocks or the equivalent. When using concrete, it is generally necessary to make use of scaffolding, shuttering and reinforcement and to take into account heavy and difficult transportations. In addition, considerable quantities

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 moisture is transmitted to the building and must be removed by drying.

   On the other hand, a considerable amount of time must be set aside for the setting of the material, after which the formwork and scaffolding must be dismantled with all the material losses in the form of waste which result therefrom.

   Consequently, the general idea was to find a process for the construction of walls, floors and roofs which made it possible to dispense with wooden formwork. to reduce the duration of the execution and to avoid incorporating water in the structural work of the building. However, satisfactory results have not been obtained so far.

   The present invention relates to a method for the construction of buildings of lightweight concrete, or the like, in which the aforesaid drawbacks are completely eliminated and which further offers the great advantage of constructing walls and walls as well as floors. and the roofs in one and the same kind of construction elements. The method according to the invention is mainly characterized in that the elements are placed in the walls, floors and roofs in such a way that their greatest width is in the direction of the thickness of the mentioned parts of the construction.

   One of the objects of the invention is to provide a method of constructing buildings in which it is possible to use elements which, despite their great length, have such a reduced weight that only one man can handle them and that the building can be raised without mortar joints.

   The elements for use in construction according to the present invention preferably have a modulus of 1 dm including gaskets, having regard to the dimensions of windows and doors in different buildings as confirmed by "Building Standardization". The width of the elements can vary between 2 and 3 cm. depending on the destination of the walls and the climatic region

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 'where they are to be used. The thickness mentioned is only given as an indication. As a general rule, it can be said that the thickness should not exceed half the width of the element. In turn, the width may, if possible, be a multiple of the thickness. The use of these construction elements then makes it possible to obtain great advantages.

   The method according to the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view showing a section of a house.

   The schematically shown house section comprises a molded base plate 10 on which the cellar walls 11 are erected. These walls 11 therefore serve as a support for the floor 12 on which the walls 13 are in turn raised. One of these, a supporting wall 14, is arranged in the middle so as to serve as a support for the roof 15.

   When constructing the walls 11 of the cellar, first a layer of cement mortar or the equivalent is applied to the plate 10, after which the first element is erected so that its greatest width forms the thickness of the wall, then put it in the desired alignment and prop it up so that it maintains the correct position. The next element is then placed directly against the first and is nailed to it. The nails are driven in the longitudinal direction of the wall.

  In this way, the next erected item will cover the nails so that they will not be exposed to moisture in the air and will not be able to rust or corrode.

   The assembly of the elements simply by nailing is obviously only carried out if the bodies have completely flat contact surfaces, so that tight joints are obtained.Otherwise, it is recommended to carry out the nailing in combination with a bonding with an adhesive agent not soluble in water.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   The other parts of the house are raised in a similar way, that is to say that for floors and roofs the elements are placed in such a way that their greater width forms the thickness respectively of the floor. and the roof, so that the reinforcement which is an integral part of the element is in a position such that its capacity to absorb the applied forces is fully exploited.

  For the construction of floors and roofs by the process in question, other advantages are obtained, owing to the fact that despite their great length, the elements are very easy to handle and they make it possible to avoid the use of scaffolding. and formwork.

  In addition, no moisture is introduced into the building. The floors and roofs which are constructed according to the invention must no longer receive any infill to ensure sufficient insulation. In this way, roofs and floors are no longer just a support but still have sufficient insulating properties to prevent the propagation of heat and sound. In addition, flat and flat surfaces are obtained such that the material used to cover the floor can be laid directly on it.

   Thus, all the walls of a house, even those whose thickness corresponds to the modulus of the element, can be built using the same elements. These can be placed there in such a way that their thickness forms the thickness of the wall. The primers of these thin walls can be obtained easily by fixing, for example, to the exterior walls, elements which have a thickness less than approximately 1 dm than that of the elements which form the remainder of the wall.

   The advantages of the process can be established as follows, for example: The work carried out in winter does not give rise to? disturbances; no moisture is introduced into the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

   @ building in such a way that a delay necessary for the drying of the building shell should not be taken into account. The quality of the construction elements allows the execution with great precision, so that the surface treatment of the walls can be simplified considerably. Thus, there is no need to cap the exterior and interior walls, and the walls can be painted and lined directly after tracing and smoothing. A shorter duration of the work and the simplicity of the scaffolding further characterize the process.

   In addition, the resistance properties of the material can be used more advantageously and it should be added that the completed building has better insulation qualities from the double point of view of sound and heat, than those which are built in the traditional way. Finally, we can also mention the great advantage that the whole structure of the building can be constructed by means of one and the same type of construction element.
