<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Selon l'invention, on évite ce nouvel incon- vénient en prévoyant au centre du réflecteur, de sec- tion parabolique, une crête longitudinale, en saillie, pour constituer ainsi un réflecteur secondaire à faces inclinées, planas ou bombées au centre du réflecteur principal;

The invention relates to improvements to infrared radiators and particularly to the housings or reflective surfaces of radiators.
It is known that infrared bridge radiators consist of an emitting element occurring. most often under the. in the form of a tube and a cylindrical reflector with parabolic cross-section at the focus of which the emitter is placed, and which is responsible for reflecting the infrared rays in a privileged direction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
With an arrangement of this kind, it occurs in the axis of the parabola between the emitting element and the. reflective surface, an accumulation of heat due to the fact that the rays emitted towards the rear and in the axis of the parabola, cannot come out since the emitter forms a screen for them. This build-up can be large enough to damage the reflector.
An attempt has been made to remedy this drawback by providing openings in the center of the reflector, but this causes a significant loss of heat, the infrared rays passing through this slot being lost.
According to the invention, this new drawback is avoided by providing in the center of the reflector, of parabolic section, a projecting longitudinal ridge, thus constituting a sub-reflector with inclined, flat or curved faces in the center of the main reflector. ;
these faces return the radiation to an open area from which the infra-red rays are reflected without being returned to the emitter. r
The invention also contemplates another improvement intended to allow the installation of infra-red radiators in rooms where there is a risk of explosion, for example due to the existence of inflammable vapors or dust in the room. Atmosphere, as is the case in premises for painting, sawing wood, handling. tion of petroleum, gasoline or other volatile products.
It turned out, in spite of the fact that the heating insulation does not present a flame or point

The radiator consists, in the usual way, of an emitting element, for example, 'electrically heated', and of a reflecting surface 2. This is a cylinder, the cross section of which is a portion of a parabola 3. .
