However, this compromises the good seal between the container and its lid, increasing the cost of the assembly, without completely solving the problem of reducing the opening force to satisfactory values.
The object of the present invention is a container with a lid of the type mentioned above which gives an integral solution to this problem. The container according to the invention is characterized in that the axis of the opening tab, projecting from the upper flange of the ring with C section towards the inside of said ring, is inclined relative to the radius of Panel passing through the central point of attachment of the tongue to its wing, the width of the tongue at said point of attachment being established in dependence on the inclination of its axis mentioned above.
In this latter respect, it has been observed by experiments that this width, measured perpendicular to the axis of the tongue, should be such that the distance, measured along this axis, from the extreme points of the zone d The attachment of the tongue to the ring is not less than the development, in radial section, of this ring.
If these conditions are fulfilled, we obtain in the safest way that during the operation of opening the ring, with the tongue tilted outwards, the breaking of 1! ring, instead of starting at the same time at two points

- The initiation of the tearing of the ring, because it fac i.Z i t, c: .1 ;, concentration of the effort, concentration which can be helped,. If necessary, by means of notches; this allows the ring to be opened with minimum effort, even if it is made of an iron-based material or, in general, having a strength greater than that of aluminum.
The object of the present invention is illustrated by an exemplary embodiment in the accompanying drawings, where: FIGS. 1 and 2 show respectively a diametrical section of the upper part of a container according to this invention and a plan view of this container; figs. 3 and 4 show, on a larger scale, two va.riantes conformation of the fixing ring of the lid of this container; Fig. 5 represents, on an even larger scale, a diagram indicating graphically the conditions of width and inclination of the tongue with respect to the lamb.
The container 1 has a projecting edge 2, on which does not support, by means of the seal 3, the edge 4 of the cover 5. The fixing of this cover to the container takes place, in a known manner. , by means of the ring 6 having a C-shaped cross section, the edges 2 and 4 and the lining 3 being clamped between the wings 7 and 8 of this ring.

tearing of the ring, with the tongue worn in its 9 'position. starts from the apex 11 of the angle Ó, because almost entirely at this point the material of the ring reacts by internal forces to the equal and opposite external forces applied, respectively, to the container 1 and to the tongue during the operation d 'opening ; this concentration of forces at point 11 is accentuated by the effect of the sharp angle and can be subsequently increased by a notch 12 (figs. 3 and 4), which, starting from the apex of angle 0 ( , follows the natural tear line.
The angle ss can also be a sharp angle with vertex 13 followed by a notch 14 (fig. 4), so that the tearing in this case is done in two successive stages, starting first from point 11 and then from point 13. However, the angle; will normally be rounded, as shown in fig. 3, so as to ensure tearing only on the angle side <
As for the width of the tongue, this has, in correspondence of the point 11 of attachment to the wing 7 of the ring 6, a width h (fig. 5), taken perpendicular to its axis.
X-X, such that H a + b + c, where:
H is the distance between the other end point 13 of attachment of the tongue to the wing 7 of the ring and point 11 'symmetrical with respect to the axis XX, from point 11, this corresponding distance practically at the distance measured along the axis XX between the end points 11 and 13 of the zone of attachment of the tongue 9 to the ring 6; a, b and c are respectively the widths of the wing 7, of the web 6 and of the wing
8 of this ring.
Obviously, H will be greater than h will be great for the same inclination of the X-X axis, while at equal length of h, H will increase with the increase of
