<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The present invention relates to a pressure reducing device for pressurized fluid of the type capable of causing the stop of the arrival of the latter at the will of the operator and comprising a deformable membrane subjected, on the one hand, to the action of an elastic adjustment member and, on the other hand, the action of the pressure of the fluid, connected to an assembly forming a valve or valve and controlling the opening of the inlet pipe for said fluid.
In devices of this kind, the membrane is therefore subjected to the simultaneous action of the pressure of the fluid which is exerted on one of its faces and to that
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a spring, generally compression, exerted on the opposite face. The power of this spring is determined in such a way that the fluid is admitted into the pipe for which it is intended only on condition of having a determined pressure, a function precisely of the power or of the compression of said spring. spring The diaphragm is connected to any linkage actuating a valve or a valve placed in the fluid inlet pipe.
In devices of this type there is generally provided a means making it possible to immobilize the membrane, for example when the device is to be taken out of service.
The apparatus according to the present invention is remarkable, in particular, in that the elastic adjustment member, such as a spring, for example, is fixed at one of its ends to the membrane, while at its other end it is integral with a movable element in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane of said membrane so as to act on the latter, either by compression or by traction, so that during normal operation of the membrane. The apparatus said spring acts by compression, but acts by traction under the influence of an appropriate displacement of the aforementioned movable element passing through a neutral point corresponding to its free position.
According to one characteristic of the invention, the aforementioned mobile element is of the sliding type.
According to yet another characteristic of the invention, this element is constituted by a carriage or the like carrying a bowl or any other suitable means on which is fixed the aforementioned spring, an adjusting screw or the like ensuring the connection between bowl and carriage and by l even the initial compression of the spring in the operating position.
The apparatus according to the present invention offers the considerable advantage of the simplicity of its design.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
as well as the absolute safety of its maneuver.
Other characteristics of the invention will result from the description which follows.
In the appended drawing, given solely by way of example, - Figure 1 is a partial sectional view of a comfort device according to the invention; in operating position as a regulator; - Figure 2 is a similar view of the same device but located in the 'closed position; - Figure 3 is another similar view showing the device in an intermediate position corresponding to the relaxation of the adjustment spring; FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 1 showing a variant; - Figure 5 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 4.
According to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the regulator comprises a body connected, on the one hand, to the pipe 2 ensuring the arrival of the fluid, and, on the other hand, to the pipe 3 intended for its distribution. The regulator is closed by a cover 4 and traps a deformable membrane 5 of a type generally used in devices of this kind.
This membrane is fixed by means of a yoke 6 which connects it to the linkage (not shown) ensuring the operation of the distribution valve placed in line 2. This linkage can be of any type and does not have need to be described in more detail. On its surface opposite to the yoke 6, the membrane is held by a part 7 which also serves for the positive fixing of a spring 8 constituting the elastic adjustment element., In the exemplary embodiment shown, it was assumed that it was a coil spring,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
but it is understood that one would in no way depart from the scope of the invention to replace cenessort by any other suitable organ.
At its opposite end, the spring 8 is secured in an equally positive manner to a member 9 forming a cup and itself connected, for example, by means of an appendage 10 and a head 11, to a screw 12. This The screw is placed in an element 13 forming a carriage and is held in place by means of a lock nut 14. The carriage 13 which may moreover be in the form of a simple nut comprises guide fingers 15.
These fingers enter guide elements constituted for example in the present case by grooves 16 provided in the surface of a sleeve 17 inside which the carriage 13 can move. Each of these grooves 16 is inclined and is laminated at the ends by housings 16 ', 1611 (see FIG. 2). In order to ensure a rectilinear movement of the carriage 13, there is furthermore provided in the cover, grooves 22 in which the guide fingers 15 also slide.
The sleeve 17 is joined to the cover 4 by a pin, for example 18, penetrating into a groove shown at 19. The latter groove is circular and can have the desired length corresponding to the rotation which will be performed by said sleeve 17.
A cap 20 is placed above the socket 17 and is joined to the latter by screws 21 for example.
The operation of the apparatus which has just been described is very simple. When it comes to operating as a pressure reducer, the fluid is admitted through line 2 in the direction of arrow f1 and exerts on the membrane 5 a thrust in the direction of arrow f2. This thrust is contrary to the action of the spring 8 which exerts on this same membrane a thrust in the sene of the arrow f3. The fluid escapes through line 3 into the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
direction of arrow f4.
When the operator wishes to stop the device, he exerts on the operating button 20 a rotation in the direction of the arrow f5 shown in FIG. 1, which causes a corresponding rotation of the socket 17 driving the fingers.
15 in the grooves 16.
This causes the movement of the movable carriage 9, 12,13 in the direction of arrow f6 by necessarily driving the spring 8 and removing the compression that the latter exerted on the membrane 5. The spring therefore begins to relax, coming occupy the fully relaxed position shown in Figure 3, and, with the rotation of the sleeve 17 continuing in the direction of arrow f5, a progressive tension is exerted on the spring and the latter ultimately comes to occupy the position shown on FIG. 2. In this last position, the spring exerts a traction on the membrane 5 thus deforming it in the opposite direction and producing the closing of the valve not shown and located in the pipe 2.
For the two extreme positions, that is to say that which corresponds to the compression of the spring 8 and that which corresponds to the tensile action exerted by the latter, we have provided, according to the invention, locations 16 ', 16 "in which the fingers 15 of the moving assembly are housed and which ensure relative immobility to ce.dernier.
It is also noted that when the operator simply begins to exert a rotation in the direction of the arrow f5 the membrane automatically comes to occupy the position determined by the complete relaxation of the spring 8, that is to say that corresponding to the figure 3. The operator can then, at will, either continue the movement in the same direction, co which produces the stop of the defendant, or go back by compressing again the spring 8 and put the regulator in its operating position normal.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
In the embodiment of FIGS. 4 and 5, there are approximately the same elements provided with the same reference numbers. Thus we find the cup 9 which is integral with the spring 8 and the adjusting screw 12 connected to said cup by the appendix 10 and the head 11. However, in this embodiment we replaced the sleeve 17 with its grooves or inclined ramps 16 by a rotating disc 22 provided with a finger 23 cooperating with grooves or grooves 24 provided in the carriage 13. Of course, it will be easy to provide two discs 22 placed on either side. other of this carriage 13 (see Figure 5). The two discs 22 are movable around an axis 25 rotating in a bearing 26 provided in the cover 4.
The disc 22 is actuated by a crank 27 with a handle 28 operating in the direction of arrow f7 and vice versa.
Two bosses 29 also provided on the cover 4 serve as a stop for the screw 30 integral with the crank 27 in order to delimit the two extreme positions.
The operation of the apparatus which has just been described is very simple. It is naturally identical for which is the operation of the spring 8 to that of the apparatus shown in Figures 1 to 3. As regards the control of the mobile carriage 13, it is noted that it is sufficient to exert on the handle 28 a push in the direction of arrow f7 to cause the movement of the finger 23 which occupies the lower position., And to force it, therefore, to move upwards (thanks to the groove 24 the assembly of the movable assembly formed by the parts 9, 12 and 13. The finger 23 thus arrives towards the position 23 ′ corresponding to the closing of the regulator. There are naturally intermediate positions such as 23 ″ which corresponds to the neutral position, c 'that is to say when the spring 8 is completely relaxed.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments shown and described which have been given only by way of example.
