Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   Pour écarter ce danger et augmenter la résistance à l'usure du robinet selon le brevet principal, la présente in- vention prévoit de brider la clé sphérique entre les faces fron- tales,faisant partie d'une surface sphérique, de sièges annulai- res logés l'un dans un évidement ménagé dans le boisseau et l'autre dans un organe auxiliaire vissé dans le boisseau, et à la surface extérieure desquels des rondelles d'étanchéité sont    enfilées avec une certaine tension préalable ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

     Le.,.raccord 7, vissé'dans le boisseau 1, est immo- bilisé par une vis de sécurité 12 et présente'à son extrémité

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

   This addition relates to a shut-off valve with a rotary ball key held between bearing surfaces forming part of a spherical surface, mounted on the plug or on complementary members of the latter and the tightness of which is ensured by washers mounted coaxially with the direction of flow of the fluid.

   The main patent describes a shut-off valve in which each of the sealing washers, the diameter of which is greater than that of the slot of the ball key, can be threaded with prior tension on.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 a cylindrical seat formed by the inner annular surface of an annular groove parallel to the lumen, the latter annular surface limiting, by its face opposite the lumen, the bearing surfaces of the spherical key and having, in a known manner , a greater radial width than the sealing washer housed therein.

   The sealing washers have, in a known manner, a rectangular cross section, one of the ridges being knocked down with a view to its application against the ball key, and they protrude, in a known manner, beyond. metal bearing surfaces of the latter, when the latter is not tight. The seats of the sealing washers are formed in bearing rings sliding on walls perpendicular to the flow channel, of the plug or of a complementary organ of the plug. These rings ensure, in a known manner, the centering of the spherical key, perpendicular to this channel.

   The object of the present addition is to improve the subject of the main patent, so as to adapt it to very high pressures, and consequently to very high flow speeds.

   To withstand very high pressures, the ball key must be tightly tightened in the ball. As a result, the contact surfaces ensuring the clamping of the key in the plug undergo very significant wear. This wear is particularly important when the fluid passing through the valve contains solid particles which, when the valve is closed, settle on the surface of the key and infiltrate when the valve is opened between the contact surfaces and the surface. of the obturator organ.

   When the valve is adjusted so as to leave only a very small passage section

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 to the fluid, the part of the sealing washer which at this point is placed on the path of the current is cut by the latter, and the result may be that the surface of this washer is damaged in particular, when closing the tap, by the edge of the light of the ball key.

   To avoid this danger and increase the wear resistance of the valve according to the main patent, the present invention provides for clamping the spherical key between the front faces, forming part of a spherical surface, of annular seats. housed one in a recess made in the plug and the other in an auxiliary member screwed into the plug, and on the outer surface of which sealing washers are threaded with a certain prior tension;

   washers have an essentially rectangular cross-section, but their edge facing the key is rounded down, while the face perpendicular to the passage channel of each of them is supported by a support ring whose inner annular surface , forming part of a spherical surface, is wedged on the key so that the sealing washer and the support ring come into contact. '
The annular seats which clamp the ball key are made of an extremely wear-resistant material. Their internal diameter is the same as the recess made in the timber and in the auxiliary member screwed into the latter.

   The outer diameter of the sealing washers and that of the support rings, preferably metallic, is smaller than the diameter of the longitudinal channel of the plug which receives the ball key and these rings.

   The present invention has the advantage of making it possible to manufacture the annular seats which clamp the spherical key in a material much more resistant to wear than that constituting the valve plug and the part which comes to be screwed.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 in this last. In addition, worn or damaged ring seats can be replaced quickly and easily. The back-up rings, which press against the key, prevent the current from entering the sealing washers and ensure that they are not destroyed by the edge of the socket of the ball key.

   By giving the edge of the sealing washers facing the spherical key a rounded profile, a better seal with the surface of the key is obtained. The convex curve of this ridge allows the edge of the keyhole to slide easily in front of the sealing surface, when opening and closing the valve, which is more gentle on this surface.

   The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will clearly explain how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the drawing and from the text being, of course, part of it. the said invention.

   The single figure is a longitudinal sectional view of a valve.

   Referring to the drawing, the shut-off valve shown comprises a plug 1 pierced with a longitudinal channel 2 which, to the right, terminates in a thread 3 of larger diameter. On the left, the longitudinal channel first narrows in order to receive an annular seat 4 and then widens again so as to have a diameter equal to the circulation channel 5.

  The latter is extended by a larger threaded part 6. A connector 7 is screwed into the thread 3 located to the right of the longitudinal channel 2 and has a circulation hole 8 which widens towards the right into a 'thread 9 and towards' the left into a housing for an annular seat 11. The annular seats 4 and: They are used to tighten the spherical key 10.

     The.,. Connector 7, screwed into the plug 1, is immobilized by a safety screw 12 and has at its end

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 cylindrical, which penetrates into the longitudinal channel 2 of the plug, an outer surface 13 hollowed out with a groove 14 intended to receive a sealing ring 15.

   The recesses released in the plug 1 and in the connector 7, and which are intended to accommodate the annular seats
4 and 11, have application surfaces 16 and 17, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the plug 1, which come to apply against the end faces 18 and 19 of the annular seats 4 and 11. When screwing the connector 7 into the internal thread 3 of the valve 1, the spherical key 10 is clamped between them. inner surfaces 20 and 21 of the annular seats 4 and 11, which form portions of a spherical surface, as much as required by the maximum working pressure intended for the fluid passing through the valve. The free annular seats 4 and 11 protrude into the opening of the plug 1 intended to receive the spherical key 10.

   The interior surfaces 22 and 23 of the annular seats 4 and 11 which protrude into this space are each provided with a sealing washer 25 and 26. The outer diameter of the faces 22 and 23 of the annular seats is greater than the inner diameter 27 and 28 of the sealing washers 25 and 26 tensioned thereon, so that the latter are subjected to a certain pre-tension on them. seats 4 and 11 which carry them. ,
The faces 29 and 30 of the sealing washers 25 and 26, which turn their backs to the spherical key 10, apply respectively against the annular surfaces 31 of the plug and 32 of the connector 7, arranged perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid. The sealing washers 25 and 26 are not supported from their outer periphery, but they could be provided with a support bandage.

   The faces 33 and 34 of the sealing washers, which are turned towards the spherical key 10, are supported

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 respectively by the side faces 35 and 36 of a support ring 37 or 38, of which the annular inner surfaces 39 and 4C, forming part of a spherical surface, are centered with respect to the surface of the spherical key 10 of such that the facing faces 33 and 34 of the washers 25 and 26 and the side surfaces 35 and 36 freely touch each other. The sealing washers 25 and 26 have a substantially rectangular cross section. However, their respective inner edge 41 or 42 is rounded down.

   When the wrench 10 is not tightened, the convex ridges 41 and 42 of the sealing washers 25 and 26 protrude beyond the concave surfaces of the annular seats 4 and 11 facing the ball wrench 10 and the support rings 37 and 38 .. During assembly of the shut-off valve, the rounded projecting edges 41 and 42 of the washers 25 and 26 are compressed against the outer surface of the key 10 and, by deforming, constitute a sealing surface.

   The spherical key 10, which is centered by the annular seats 4 and 11, the sealing washers 25 and 26 and the support rings 37 and 38, can be turned into the open and closed position by means of 'a control pin 44 mounted in a lateral extension 43 of the valve 1. When the key occupies its open position, the port 45 allows the fluid to circulate freely. The diameter of the lumen 45 of the key 10 as well as that of the channels 5 and 8 of the plug 1 and of the connector 7, and the internal diameter of the annular seats 4 and 11 are substantially equal so as to prevent the formation of vortices during the passage of fluid through the open key.

   The control spindle 44 is equipped, in a known manner, with an operating handle 48 which is held in the lateral extension 43 of the plug 1, by a cap nut 49 in the form of a bell. Its tightness is ensured by a seal

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 51 inserted in an annular groove 50 hollowed out in the control spindle 44. In addition to the threads 6 and 9 intended for the connection of the rigid or flexible pipes made respectively in the plug 1 and in the connector 7, the plug 1 is also provided external threads 52 and 53 also allowing the connection of such pipes.

   Since the wrench is centered by the annular seats 4 and 11, by the sealing washers 25 and 26, and by the support rings 37 and 38, it is no longer necessary that the centering pin 44 of the spherical key also participates in this centering. The inner end of the control spindle 44 has countersinks 55 which form four rods 56 arranged at right angles which engage in a cross slot made in the spherical key 10.

   It goes without saying that modifications can be made to the embodiments which have just been described, in particular by substitution of equivalent technical means, without going beyond the scope of the present invention.
