Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc / Clms Page number 1>
The object of the present invention is an anti-vibration support which functions as an elastic tie-rod capable of producing suspensions having a high initial floxi bility with pronounced buffering and a safety retention.
The tie rod in question consists essentially of two strips or bands of metal or of loose fabric. shaped so as to produce a device similar to an articulated parallelogram.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Between the et.eu ::: blades is provided rubber or other similar elastic material. The support is tensioned along a diagonal of the parallelogram; therefore the other diagonal shortens while compressing the rubber and thereby causing the elastic reaction.
The progressive stiffening is obtained for two reasons; either as a result of the behavior of the rubber under compressive stress, or also because when the angle indicated in fig. l, the ratio between the load P applied to the support and the reaction R of the rubber increases (and becomes infinite for = 0), while likewise the ratio between the corresponding subsidence decreases (up to 0 for Ó = 0 ).
The invention is illustrated, purely by way of example and without limitation, in the appended figures, of which: FIG. 1 shows the operating diagram of the support; - Figure 2 a cross section, and - Figure 3 a side view; - figure'4 shows a tie rod as above, the rubber part of which is provided with holes.
The fabric bands, formed by means of a flexible type yarn, or flexible metal plates, have been designated by (1) by (2) the elastic material, such as rubber or the like elastic material, which may be used. attached to the bands (1) by vulcanization or by another known method, or else simply interposed without ties between said bands, or else formed of two symmetrical halves juxtaposed according to the pla @ symmetry.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the area indicated (a), the two ad hoc bands, made of fabric or rubber, can be attached to each other by vulcanization; this is not essential and the bands may be tied together in any known manner or may not be connected.
A higher initial flexibility can be obtained as shown in figure 4, by making a hole (3) in the thickness of the rubber (2). Of course, the holes can be more numerous, have any shape and be distributed in a flexible manner; at the limit, the compressed part (2) can be made of spongy rubber.
CLAIMS.
1) - Elastic support working in the direction of the applied load, like an elastic tie-rod, with very high elasticity at the start then, with very pronounced buffering and safety restraint, suitable for making pendulum type suspensions, c 'that is to say with practically no transverse rigidity, the support being produced by interposing rubber or a similar elastic material between two strips of canvas, of any fabric or of metal, shaped so as to produce a system similar to an articulated parallelogram.
