Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

   La fig.1 est la coupe longitudinale de la   première   forme d'ex- aution, prise   suivant   la ligne D-D de la Fig 1a;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

   Heteropolar electrical machines with a fixed inductor have the drawback of a very high magnetic dispersion.

   This drawback is particularly noticeable in machines of this type in which the magnetic circuit closes outside the armature.

   The consequences of high magnetic dispersion are particularly serious in the case of machines with several armatures, which can be arranged, for example, one inside. on the other, thus forming a double macnine (converters). This is due to the fact that the flux produced by the field winding undergoes a deflection and the magnetic parts of the bell-shaped rotor deflect the flux in opposite directions.

   The object of the present invention is to provide a heteropolar electric machine, in which the losses of the excitation magnetic flux are reduced to a minimum value.

   The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the heteropolar machine forming the subject of the invention. FIGS. 1 and the relate to a synchronous generator and figs. 2, 2a, 2b and 2c relate to an example of a double machine, such as a frequency converter.

   Fig. 1 is the longitudinal section of the first form of extension, taken along line D-D in Fig 1a;

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 fig. 1a is a cross section taken along the line A-A of FIG. 1; fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the secomde embodiment; fig. 2a represents the development on a plan of the magnetic members of the roter of the machine of FIG. 2, and shows the arrangement of the polar faces; fig. 2b is a cross section taken along line B-B of FIG. 2; and fig. 2c is a cross section taken along the line C-C of FIG. 2.

   The machine shown in figs. 1 and the comprises a carcass 1 of non-magnetic material, inside which is fixed a magnetic system M, having a horseshoe section and comprising a magnetic core 2 and a field winding 3.

  The internal surfaces of a magnetic core 3 are cylindrical and form, with pole pieces of greater width 2 ', the north and south poles of the magnetic system Between the pole pieces 2', two magnetic rings 4 and 5 are mounted on the shaft 11 of the machine, and they are magnetically isolated from it. The outer diameters of the rings 4 and 6 are chosen so that the air gap separating these rings from the pole pieces 2 ′ is as small as possible. The ring 4 is integral with an extension 4 ', in the form of a half-tube, which carries a pole tooth 5 forming the south pole of the system. The ring 6 is also provided with an extension 7, having the shape of a half-tube and a diameter greater than that of the extension 4 '. Ring 6 forms the north pole of the magnetic system.

   Teeth 5 and 7 thus constitute internal pole pieces, as is clearly indicated in FIG. 1a, and consequently produce a magnetic flux which enters the iron of the fixed armature, or stator, 8 and which circulates in the direction of the arrows in FIG. the. Circular holes are arranged in the iron of the stator 8, in which the armature winding 9 is placed, the ironic connections of which are indicated by the number 10.

   The magnetic flux of the system M produced by the field winding 3 exits the pole faces 2 ', passes through the air gap and

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 enters the magnetic rings 4 and 6, heading towards the pole teeth 5 and 7, so it is, indicated by the arrows of fig. 1.

   As the rotor rotates, the flux entering the iron of the stator 8 varies, so that a voltage of frequency 0} is induced in the stator winding 9. The adjustment of the induced voltage can be achieved in the same way as for ordinary generators, that is to say by adjusting the excitation current in the field winding @
The voids between the magnetic rings 4 and 6 and the pole teeth 5 and 7 can be filled with a non-magnetic material, such as aluminum, so as to obtain a compact cylindrical rotor, formed of the rings 4 and 6 and the teeth 5 and 7.

   In the example of FIG. l, the machine is bipolar, but it is obvious that the same construction could be applied to realize a machine with a greater number of poles.

   In the other embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 to 2c, the heteropolar machine is double and functions as a frequency converter. In a carcass of the non-magnetic material is mounted a fixed annular magnetic system M, having a horseshoe section, and comprising the magnetic core 2 and a field winding 3, the latter being arranged inside the core. 2.

  The pole pieces 2 ′ have pole faces of very large section in order to reduce the induction in the air gap. Between the pole pieces 2 ', two magnetic rings 4' and 6 are mounted on a shaft 11. The ring 4 'is magnetically isolated from the shaft 11 and extends towards the left part of the machine shown in FIG. 2, to form a pole tooth 5 'facing a stator 8 The tooth 5' forms the south pole. The tooth 7 ', which forms the aord pole, is on the other hand magnetically connected to the shaft 11. The stator @ and the pole teeth 5' and 7 'together form the driving part of the machine. Fig. 2b against the cross section of this part.

   The stator 8 'as well as the arrangement and the shape of the pole pieces 2' are similar to those of the machine of FIG. 1 described above. The stator 8 'of FIG. 2 is provided with a winding, for example three-phase, the front connections of which are indicated by

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 the number 10 '. The only difference between the stator 8 of fig.1 and the stator 8 'of fig. 2, is that the first works like a bipolar generator, while the stator 8 'forms

  The right part of the machine in fig. 2 shows the
 EMI4.2
 converter parts that form the generator. In the case shown, this ge ratrice has six poles. Fig. 2c shows a cross section of this part. The magnetic flux leaving the pole pieces 2 ′ of the north pole of the noauy 2 passes through the air gap and enters the magnetic ring 6 of the rotor. This ring 6 is solid with the pole teeth 7, which form the north pole of the inductor. The magnetic flux of the teeth 7 passes through the stator 8, travels through the iron of the latter, exits the pole teeth 5 of the rotor, which form the south pole, and enters the shaft 11, which it travels by moving towards the pole teeth 7 '(north pole) on the left side of the machine, thus completing the magnetic circuit.

   To start the converter described above, the stator winding 9 'is connected to the three-phase network. The rotating field generated by the winding 9 'induces eddy currents in the iron mass of the pole teeth 5' and 7 ', so that the rotor begins to rotate. The pole teeth 5 'and 7' are connected to each other and to the magnetic ring 4 'by means of a non-magnetic metal, so as to form a compact assembly. They are mounted on the shaft 11 so as to be able to pivot on the latter by approximately one pole pitch, but they are driven in rotation by the shaft by means of a stop device, not shown.

   Thanks to this stop device, the driving part and the generating part of the machine can perform an angular displacement relative to each other depending on their polarity, in order to be synchronized. This arrangement allows easier attachment than in the case of a rigid mechanical coupling of two parts.

   Experience has shown that by means of this simple device, when, in the converter described, the magnetic system M is excited to the maximum by a direct current and the generator is

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 loaded, the motor hangs without difficulty. The object of the invention is not however limited to this embodiment of the synchronization device. The result is obtained by pivoting the stators 8 and 8 ', provided with providing them with a stop which can oppose the reaction of the torque of the rotor.

  This embodiment is particularly advantageous when the armatures have a cylindrical shape and are mounted inside, while the. inductors rotate outside the armatures.

   The invention is therefore not limited to the embodiment described above and shown in the drawing. If, for example, the roles of the inductor and the armature are inverted, that is to say that?; 'The armature or armatures are placed on the outside .. then the magnetic system M must also be mounted inside and the groove, the sides of which form the north-south pole faces, must be on the outside. The magnetic rings 4 'and 6' then rotate on the outside of the cylindrical pole faces as well as the pole ring of the inductors, which have the shape of a cylindrical body forming a single assembly.

   Likewise, the pole teeth of the driving part and of the generator part of the machine can reverse their roles and the converter can raise or lower the frequency.

   In the embodiment described above, the magnetic fluxes of the two parts of the machine are coupled in series with the excitation flux produced by the magnetic system M The various parts of the machine can also be mounted in such a way that the flux Magnetic leaving the system M is distributed over two or more magnetic circuits, to pass through two or more armatures, which, therefore, are connected in parallel to the excitation flux.

   The use of several parts excited by a single magnetic system M is one of the most important characteristics of the present invention.

   In addition, the various parts of the machine can be provided with any number of poles &

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   The adjustment of the magnetic flux can be achieved, for example, by diverting or blocking the path of the magnetic flux, by means of magnetic shunts or magnetic screens, which are moved in one direction or the other. The movements of the shunts or of the magnetic screens can be controlled from the outside by a centrifugal force regulator, or else by an electromagnetic device.

   The invention, moreover, is not limited to the embodiments provided with a magnetic system M with two poles. According to the invention, the magnetic excitation system M can have any number of poles. Thus, for example, this system can be provided with two grooves, in which are placed two windings traversed by currents in opposite directions. A system of this kind then has three pole teeth, the faces of which are continuous and have a cylindrical shape. If the middle tooth forms the north pale, the two outer teeth form the south pole, and vice versa.

   The middle tooth may have a double section of that of the outer teeth,
In a machine of the type described, provided with such a three-pole magnetic system M, it is necessary to mount in one inductor three magnetic rings such as 4 and 6, in order to be able to distribute the magnetic flux in the two parts of the double machine. . The pole teeth 5 and 7 of the right part of the inductor are fixed to the central ring and to an outer ring. Teeth 5 'and

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

7 'of the left part of the inductor are attached to the central ring and the other outer ring.

   In this embodiment of the machine, the excitations of the two parts can be adjusted independently of each other, since each of the two field windings produces a magnetic flux which serves to excite only one of the fields. two parts' of the machine.

   Instead of a three-pole agnetic system, two two-pole magnetic systems can also be joined in the machine described. In this case, the two field windings are also traversed by opposite currents, so that the two center teeth have the same polarity and the two outer teeth have the opposite polarity.

   Finally, the magnetic systems can be arranged one inside the other and have pole teeth in the form of circular rings, the pole faces being formed by disks.
