<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The subject of the invention is an apparatus with a food reserve, used to feed poultry, mainly by means of powdered flour.
The apparatus according to the invention is essentially constituted by a kind of hopper tank, which serves to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
store the food and distribute it by gravity, through a constriction, in a trough provided at its base. One of the essential characteristics of the apparatus according to the invention resides in the shape of the edges of the trough which are rounded with curvature directed towards the lower thereof, an arrangement which avoids any waste which could occur with it. a trough with vertical edges, letting the spattered food fall outside when the animals peck.
Another interesting feature of the apparatus consists in the provision, at the lower part of the wall of the tank, of openings of suitable dimensions both in height and in width; and in which the animals can introduce their beaks to peck at the bottom. 'inside said tank when the flours, for whatever reason, no longer slide into the trough through the throttle provided. The openings in question can be slits, vertical or oblique, or even holes of any shape.
On the other hand, the member forming the cover of the reservoir receives an inclination appropriate to the faith-me of the latter, to prevent the animals from perching on the apparatus, the reservoir possibly carrying for the same purpose a rotating member, of the turnstile type, preventing access to favorable points offered by the cover, such as in particular the horizontal edge of a cover in the form of a roof.
Finally, a device for closing the openings of the reservoir, removable or sliding, is provided for the oas of use of seeds as food.
Several embodiments of devices according to the invention will now be described by way of nonlimiting examples and with reference to the appended drawing in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
fig. 1 is an elevational view, partially in section, of a cylindrical device with an adjustable constriction, placed on the ground or any suitable support; fig. 2 is a perspective view of a wall apparatus; fig. 3 is a side view in section of the apparatus shown in FIG. 2; fig. 4 is a side view of a variant in a non-wall version.
In the embodiment, shown in fig. 1. it can be seen that the apparatus is essentially constituted by a metal cylinder 1 made of black or galvanized sheet, for example, and a bowl 2, the arrangement being such that the cylinder does not touch the bowl. This bowl 2 has a curved rim 5 'directed inwards as can be seen in the drawing and its bottom is pushed upwards in the shape of a cone 4.
The reservoir or hopper cylinder 1 is supported by a rod or a tube 5 arranged along its axis and connected to the top of the conical bottom 4 of the bowl. The cylinder carries two crosses formed by are flat irons 6, 61 arranged one at the upper part and the other at the lower part of the cylinder; these braces perforated in the middle can slide on the rod or the tube 5.
Holes drilled in the rod or tube allow the

The fO: J.cti () rU, ê:, :: 1. t of '1!.; .. P}) :. ú' <: it is understandable at first glance. It is loaded with powdered flour by pouring the powder into the upper part of the cylinder 1 by removing the cover 7. The flour flows by its own weight into the bottom of the bowl 2 by sliding on the conical bottom 4 of this bowl, the section of passage of the food is by the distance of the lower edge of the cylinder 1 from the bottom of the bowl.
It may happen that the flour 'no longer slides on the conical bottom 4 of the bowl as a result of arches that can form by the packed food. The animals can no longer feed themselves by pecking in the bowl into which the flour would no longer flow. However, it will be possible for them to feed themselves by passing their be c through the slots 8
This is a provision which is of interest in practice since the breeder will not have to constantly monitor his devices to verify that they are functioning correctly. The pecks in the cracks will practice the collapse of the vaults forced by the flour allowing it to slide again on the bottom.

to prevent the seeds from being spilled through the slits, these slits can be closed by means of a collar threaded onto the cylinder
The cylindrical shape of the hopper tank 1 has been given only by way of example. It is obvious that this hopper tank could have a cross section, rectangular, square or any other suitable shape,
By design, the device described above must be placed with a certain clearance from the partitions in the aviary, in order to allow the poultry to use the trough in its entirety. It may be interesting to make a version mural like the one shown in figs. 2 and 3.
It can be seen that the reservoir 10, of rectangular cross section constricted towards the base, receives the powdered flour through the opening 12 provided at its upper part, the flour flows through. gravity through 'the constriction 13 in the trough 11, constituted by. the extended rear partition 14 of the tank, which is folded forward and ends with a curved edge 15 directed towards the inside of the trough thus formed (fig, 2) In order to prevent the animals from being perch on the apparatus, the cover 16 of the tank is preferably inclined forward, its articulation 17 being located on the upper edge of the rear partition, level, 'higher than that of the front partition 18 .
'
In order to make the device adjustable in height, the rear partition carries hooks 19, which can engage in the stepped notches of a rack 30 which is fixed to the wall 21 (fig.2). It is of course possible to provide a fixing without a rack, the rear clqison then simply being provided with two conventional fastening lugs 22 (fig. 1)
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Openings 23 are provided in the lower part of the front partition 18, for the purpose indicated above.
A variant of this device in a non-wall version has been shown in FIG. 4.
In this case the device has substantially the external appearance that would present two wall devices contiguous by their rear partition. The reservoir 24 feeds two troughs 25, each with a profile identical to that of the trough described above and together forming a single part which supports the reservoir by fixing their respective end partitions.
The tank is also provided with openings 26 at six bases and has two inclined covers 27, in the form of a roof.
On the other hand, a cross-shaped tourniquet 28, placed horizontally, is supported by two legs 29 provided at the end of the ridge of the tank, so that the animals do not have the possibility of perching on the apparatus. We see that it can be placed on the floor or on any suitable support,
In the case of the use of seeds as food, it is possible, in particular on the two devices which have just been described, to close the openings, preferably with the help of a sliding sheet, not shown.
