<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

, The circular pipe of the blast furnace is supplied for combustion with hot and cold air. Before admitting hot and cold air into the circular ducting of the blast furnace, it is a question of mixing them with each other in such a way that the air mixture is introduced at constant temperature, with safety in the blast furnace. This requires a long mixing line, short mixing paths do not allow intense mixing to be produced. However, in metallurgical plants it often happens that the footprint necessary for the placement of a suitable mixing path is lacking, resulting in complete mixing of hot and cold air being impossible. .
The object of the invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks in a simple manner. Its principle is characterized by particular-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In front of the circular duct, it is placed by a short tubular element, which is surrounded by one of the parts of the annular cold air supply duct, and has radial recesses distributed around the periphery in the region of the annular duct.
1 the object: of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing in the form of an example of execution,
Fig. 1 shows the diagram of a Cowper installation according to the intention.
Fig. 2 shows the object of the invention in longitudinal section.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the object of FIG. 2 along line B-B.
Fig. 4 and 5 show the longitudinal and transverse sections of the object of the invention according to FIG. 2, in a different embodiment.
According to the diagram of fig. 1.1th blast furnace H, shown only partially in section, is supplied alternately with hot and cold air by the Cowper I, II and III air heaters. The pipes 1, 2 and 3 from these air heaters end in a common manifold 4, which at the same time receives cold air from the pipe 5. To shorten the mixing path, we surround in front the circular pipe of the blast furnace H, a short tubular element 5 forming part of the pipe 4, of a ring 7 which forms an annular channel 6. Through the intake pipe 8, cold air from the pipe KW enters this annular canal 6.
In the region of the annular channel, the wall of the tubular element 5 is provided with radial recesses 9, 10. The length of the tubular element 5 corresponds approximately to the internal diameter of the hot air supply pipe.
@
The cold air which circulates from the intake manifold 8 to the annular channel 6 has compared to the hot air of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
@ piping 4, 5, higher pressure. As a result, the cold air penetrating'.radially into the tubular element 5, intimately mixes into the short tubular element 5. In this manner. re, a mixing path length reduced to a minimum dimension is obtained, which must simply correspond to the diameter of the hot air supply piping.
It is useful that the section in the annular channel 6 is rectangular. In addition, it has proved advantageous to give the opening of the annular channel 6 the dimension corresponding to the passage of cold air in the intake pipe. The meaning of the invention is that the recesses 9 in the tubular element 5, near the intake channel 8, are made smaller than the recesses 10 located in front of the intake channel 8. In For this purpose, it is suggested to decrease the size of the recesses 9, 10 towards the admission 8 of the cold air, in the annular channel - In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the annular channel 6 is located around the tubular element 5.
On the other hand, in the example of execution according to FIG. 4 and 5, the annular channel 6a is incorporated in the wall of the tubular element 5a. Here, too, the cold air enters through 8a and circulates through the recesses 9a and 10a in the tubular member 5a.
.In accordance with the diagram in fig. 1, air heaters
I, II and III are arranged in series. If, for example, hot air comes from the air heater III, the mixture is still tolerable. For hot air emissions; from air heaters II and I the path of cold air in front of the mixing zone "is too long, hence the hot air emission from air heater I is the most unfavorable.
Here too, it is possible to remedy this, an intimate mixture of cold and hot air can be guaranteed by a short tubular element which is surrounded by an annular channel 6, 6a for supplying cold air and present, in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
zone of the annular channel 6, 6a, distributed over the periphery of the latter, radial recesses 9, 10 or 9a, 10a.
