<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to a device for clamping screen fabrics, more particularly suitable for vibrating screens.
Usually, the fabrics of these screens are fixed to a yoke folded in a hook and hung on a cross bar provided with a longitudinal groove. It has been found that often, especially when using fine fabrics, these are weakened by the rivets passing through the. clevis and cutting a certain number of threads, and that they then tear in service under the effect of secondary vibrations which can be generated in the clevis because of its weight.
The web clamping device according to the invention avoids this danger. It essentially comprises two furs, preferably half-round, placed one on top of the other, between which the canvas is fixed by suitable means, and a longitudinally split tubular yoke which receives the furs trapping the canvas. These furs are preferably in one

non-metallic material, such as wood, rubber or synthetic material; and have rounded edges.
.. The yoke is provided with distance in distance clamping members in order to hold it against the frame of the screen.
The clamping members advantageously comprise a jaw enclosing the yoke, a threaded rod integral with the jaw and passing through the frame of the screen, and a guide integral with the frame in which the yoke is housed with the interposition of bands of a flexible material, damping the secondary vibrations that may be generated in the screed.
The appended drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the invention. It shows a cross section of the device.
The fabric 1 is fixed between the half-round furs 2 and 2 ', for example by winding it around one of these.
These furs have rounded edges in order to protect the canvas, and they are made of a non-metallic material, for example wood; rubber or a so-called plastic material. The furs 2 and 2 ', placed one on top of the other, with the fabric between them, are then inserted into a tubular yoke 3, made up of a tube with a longitudinal slot. It is clear that this yoke, instead of a circular section, could have a polygonal section, to which the shape of the furs would be adapted.
Clamps are placed at intervals for the purpose of joining the web to the frame of the screen. These organs comprise a jaw 4 slid over the yoke 3, a threaded rod 5 integral with the jaw and passing through the frame 6, on the outside of which it is clamped by nuts 7 and 7 ', and a guide formed by the brackets. 8 and 8 ', running along two opposite sides of the frame 6 and reinforced by gussets 9. Between the tubular yoke 3 and the consoles 8 and 8' are inserted elastic bands 10, of rubber or equivalent material, which
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
aim to damp the vibrations that may be generated in the 'string be the cause of undesirable stresses on the canvas, causing it to tear.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has been described and shown by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
