<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a puller for bulbs, tubers and food roots, in particular beets, consisting of a frame provided with a pulling mechanism operating on one or more rows of plants at a time, comprising rotating elements arranged so as to shave or dig the earth at least on one side of the plants, these rotating elements being formed so that the plants in contact with these rotating elements are stressed by an upward force, as described in
EMI1.1
German patent they 226,266.

This known puller has a drawback, namely: the plants remaining, after sowing and thinning, next to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the row itself, risk being pierced by the pulling elements oriented in the direction of movement of the machine, which is inadmissible.
The subject of the invention is a puller eliminating this drawback.
For this purpose, according to the invention, 'the part of the stripping member, respectively of the stripping members, grazing or digging the earth, is oriented towards the rear with respect to the direction of advance of the machine.
In the event of the application of two cooperating pulling members on either side of the row of plants, it is advisable to arrange these cooperating pulling members, so that their axes of rotation intersect and diverge forwardly. the machine.
By this means the plants are, in a way, picked up or stuck in the notch formed by the two axes of rotation; this prevents these plants from escaping the active part at the end of the pulling organs.
The invention will be explained in more detail, by means of an exemplary embodiment described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows schematically the way in which the roots are extracted from the earth; FIG. 2 is a side view of the puller according to the invention; Figure 3 is a plan view of said puller.
Although this puller is suitable for pulling bulbs, tubers and roots of all kinds, the machine will be described below with reference exclusively to the pulling of beets.
In Figure 1 we have indexed, schematically, a cross section of the active ends 4.of the pulling members
5 and 5 '(see crack 3). In the execution example shown the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
pulling members 5 and 5 'consist of rods driven in rotation about their longitudinal axis, the active ends of said rods being bent and eccentric in the manner of a crankpin, relative to the longitudinal axis of the rotating rods 5 and 5' so that by turning they determine a cylindrical or conical surface.
It is obvious that, by the advancement and rotation of the rods 5 and 5 'on either side of the row of beets, the ends 4 come into contact with the beets 1 and, by this fact, free them. here and bring them to the surface.
The two rod ends 4. are out of phase with each other as is clear from the. figure 1. The beet will therefore be sought successively from both sides by a transverse blow and in an upward direction, so that it will be torn and lifted. According to the example shown (Figure 2), the puller consists of a frame 6, fixed forward, near 7 to the tractor. Towards the rear are arranged load wheels, while. towards the front are provided height adjustable slides or runners.
The height adjustment of the front part of the frame is effected by means of a lever 10. On the frame is arranged the tearing mechanism itself 11, consisting of the tearing rods .2 at the bent ends 4, for example. , crankpin-shaped. It is moreover obvious that this manetcn could be replaced by an eccentric, a helical element or any cam or rod of suitable conformation. At the other end of the pulling rod 5 is mounted a conical toothed wheel 12, with a view to driving said rod from the derivation shaft of the tractor via the articulated coupling 13. One could also ensure the com - Mande said rods by means of an auxiliary motor installed on the frame.
By means of a threaded rod 14, the pulling mechanism can be made to oscillate around a pivot 15, so as to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
roll the eagle of t: es relative to the ground surface
The digging depth can be adjusted using the glides. These are also provided with spurs or guide pieces 16 ensuring the automatic orientation, respectively the guidance, of the puller with respect to the rows of beets.
In this way, the rotary harvesting rods are constrained to follow a correct path with respect to the rows of beetroots, with a view to the extraction thereof.
The ends 4, of the lifting rods 5 and 5 'are directed towards the rear with respect to the direction of advance of the machine, as indicated by the arrow A. Figure 3 shows, moreover, that the axes longitudinal stripper rods 5 and 5 'intersect at an angle of 30 to 35 and this so as to diverge in the direction of advance A.
The bevel gear wheels 12 drive a gear wheel 17 which, in turn, through a telescopic shaft 18 with articulated flushing coupling, rotates a device / rotary. This device is used to project the beets emerging between the harvesting stems 5, onto an elevator-conveyor 20. In order to prevent! the beets to be ejected, the runners are fitted with a suitable screen 21.
When the beets have been lifted, they can, by a second elevator, be loaded onto a carriage which itself can, near 23, be attached to the harvesting machine.
The transporter 20 is controlled, by means of a rope 24, from the hunting device. Preferably, the stripping members are provided for two rows at the same time, and two 2C carriers are then used. From there a collecting channel 25. brings the beets on the commn conveyor 22.
Preferably, the conveyor 20 is designed in the form of a shaking slat conveyor, with a view to cleaning the beets during transport, so that they, when they arrive in the trolley, are as much as possible cleared.

sies of earth. In the example described, the machine was executed lengthwise.In a widthwise operation, the conveyor 20 being arranged transversely behind the lifting device, the machine could be mounted as a device attached to the tractor, for example by means of a three-point fixing known per se. It is obvious that, within the limits of the invention, many variations can be envisaged.
