@elon une forme d'exécution avantageuse, la @
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a valve for a pressurized gas container, which is juxtaposed with a safety valve comprising a piston which, when a pipe is connected to said valve, moves in a housing in communication with a part of the valve. in which the shutter of the latter is movable, the wall of the aforesaid piston having an axial duct in communication with the aforesaid housing and being permanently urged by a spring towards its position for which the safety valve is closed.
The juxtaposition of the tap and the safety valve is desirable so that these members can be protected during the transport of the container by a kind of bell mounted thereon. @
The object of the invention is a compact arrangement - of the tap and of the safety valve, the realization of which is easy, which does not give rise to an im- pressure drop! load-bearing during filling or emptying of the. receptacle because of the particularly short path of the gas between the part of the valve downstream of the shutter thereof and the seat of the safety valve, this path being at the same time free of obstacles to the easy flow of the gas .
The valve according to the invention is characterized in that the housing for the valve piston laterally has a groove which intersects the part of the valve in which the shutter thereof moves and in that the valve axial duct of the piston is in communication with this groove by at least one channel formed in this piston.
@according to an advantageous embodiment, the @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The aforesaid groove is a circular groove with a diameter greater than that of the piston. In addition, several channels terminated in the axial duct of the piston, on the other hand end in the aforesaid circular groove when a pipe is connected to the valve. In this way, there is an annular space all around the piston for the passage of gas between the valve and the axial duct of the piston. -
The aforesaid circular groove could not extend, parallel to the axis of the piston, beyond its zone of intersection with the valve.
However, preferably, the circular groove extends beyond its zone of intersection with the valve and the channels formed in the piston are in permanent communication with it in the part beyond this zone.
Finally, in order to ensure excellent sealing of the safety valve for a longer period of time, provision is made to guide the piston, so that its rotation is prevented in the event that the pipe connected to the valve is put into rotation in being in contact with it.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which represent schematically, and by way of example only, one embodiment of the valve according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a stepped sectional view along the broken line I-I of Figure 2.
Figure 2 is a section through a plane represented by the line II-II in Figure 1.
The valve shown is intended to be fixed on a container containing a pressurized gas, for example, by screwing its thread 2 into this container. It includes a proper valve 3 whose body 4 is a single block with
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the body 5 of a safety valve 6 disposed against the valve 3 and the axis of which is in a plane perpendicular to the axis of this valve.
The valve 3 comprises a shutter 7 operable axially by means of a handwheel 8. A seal 9 mounted in this shutter can be pressed against a seat 10 inside which a.boutit a. conduit 11 in communication with the pressurized gas container.
In the body 5 of the safety valve, is mena 'ge a housing 12 for a piston 13 displac.able axially.
This piston can be pushed against a spring 14 when a gas distribution line 15 is pushed into the valve body from the position shown !.
This driving in can be done by screwing a nut 16 into the body 5.
In the position shown, a seat 17 integral with the piston 13 is pressed against a seal 18 under the action of the spring 14. This seal is mounted in a part 19 fixed to a rod 20 disposed in the gasket. 'axis of the piston and made integral with the body 5 of the safety valve, for example by screwing at 21 and consequent pressing. The rod 20 passes into a duct 22 formed inside the seat 17 through the bottom 23 of the piston 13.
The housing 12 for this piston has a lateral groove 24 which intersects the part of the valve 3 in which the shutter 7 moves. In the case of the figures, the groove 24 is a circular groove with a larger diameter. that of the piston 13. The opening of intersection of this circular groove with the housing for the shutter 7 is designated by 25.
Several channels 26 are formed in the piston 13 and lead, on the one hand, to the axial duct 22 and, on the other hand
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
hand, in the circular groove 23, in a part thereof, extending beyond its zone of intersection with the valve.
If the pipe 15 were accidentally rotated after having forced the piston 13 against the action of the spring 14, this piston would have a tendency to rotate with it and, consequently, when the seat 17 would come into contact with the seal 18, The seal could be defective. To avoid this drawback, provision has been made to prevent the rotation of this piston by guiding it axially. Angular immobilization is advantageously carried out by means of a flat 27 provided in the rod 20, the bottom 23 of the piston having an opening corresponding to that of the rod.
20 at the place of the flat.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of some of the elements involved in its realization, without going beyond within the scope of the present invention, provided that these modifications do not contradict the object of each of the following claims.
