Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

La fig. 1 est une vue en élévation de face d'une surface d'appui quadrangulaire comportant deux séries de "spires" de fils en zigzag ;
La fig. 2 est une vue analogue à celle de la fig. 1, mais ici la surface d'appui comporte trois étoiles de fils situées dans trois plans superposés;
La fig. 3 est une vue analogue à la précédente, mais ici le cadre est circulaire ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

La fig. 4 est une vue partielle à grande échelle montrant   @   crois systèmes différents de noeuds d'amarrage des fils sur le   Ladre ;
La fig. 5 représente une chaise dont le dossier et le siège sont constitués par des surfaces d'appui conformes à celle de la fig. 1;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   Toutefois, comme   le,   montre le dessin- et ainsi qu'on le voit également sur la fig.   5 - '.les   deux brins 5   et 6   sont ici reliés entre eux par un brin 9,ce qui indique   qu'il   est fait. emploi   d'un   fil unique, continu, au lieu* de deux tronçons   de;

     fils dis- tincts.. Naturellement on peut aussi faire des dosserets pour banquettes au lieu de sièges individuels.,

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to improvements in seats and benches, in particular for automobiles and furniture, and in which the bearing surfaces are formed by ropes or flexible wires stretched over rigid frames. These improvements relate more specifically to a method of crossing these ropes or threads, in combination or not with the knots used to secure them to the frame.

   In principle and according to the invention, each bearing surface comprises at least two series of "turns" of these ropes, located in superimposed planes, each series of turns being established between two opposite sides or edges of the frame and passing the zig-zag yarn alternately on the sides in question '

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 so as to cover the 'whole of the bearing surface, the two series starting respectively from each of the two sides' and ending in the same way, and this so that the threads of the two series of turns cross in the area where mainly does the support.

   In a variant, the layers of ropes, instead of forming "turns" going in zigzag from one side to the opposite side or edge of the frame, form stars with several branches, the tops of which are preferably situated on all sides of the frame. frame, the threads of each star crossing at the desired points for optimum support and the support surface which may include several similar stars whose planes are superimposed and whose vertices are offset with respect to each other so as to be suitably distributed around the perimeter of the frame, whether it is polygonal or round.

   In combination with the foregoing, the securing of the wires or ropes around the frame rods can be achieved by forming knots such as boatman's knots, corded nozzles, hanger knots, or the like: half-keys to capeler, reverse half-keys etc ...

   Finally, the cords or threads used can have any desired section, composition or color and possibly different, for example from one layer to another in the same bearing surface.

   The appended drawing shows, by way of example, several embodiments of the invention. In this drawing:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a quadrangular bearing surface comprising two series of "turns" of zigzag wires;
Fig. 2 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1, but here the bearing surface comprises three stars of wires located in three superimposed planes;
Fig. 3 is a view similar to the previous one, but here the frame is circular;

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

Fig. 4 is a partial view on a large scale showing different systems of knots for securing the wires on the Ladre;
Fig. 5 shows a chair, the backrest and the seat of which are formed by bearing surfaces conforming to that of FIG. 1;

Fig. 6 is a partial perspective view of a car the front seats of which are provided with backrests similar to the supporting surface shown in FIG. 1.

   In the embodiment according to FIG. 1 - and the application example shown in fig. 5 - references 1, 2, 3 and 4 designate the four sides of the frame of a bearing surface.

  According to the invention, a first strand of wire (or cord) 5 is stretched in zigzag fashion between the uprights 1 and 3, starting from the top of the upright 1 and ending in the lower part of this upright. We operate in the same way with a second strand of wire (or rope or cord) 6 starting from the top of the upright 3 and ending at the bottom of this same amount, the numbers of turns or zigzags being the same on both sides of the frame and the planes of the two series of turns being applied one against the other without interpenetration. As can be seen, the strands of the two series of turns respectively cross at points situated on the same straight line A B, parallel to the uprights 1 and 3, which is the optimum support line.

   The ties of the son 5 and 6 on the two uprights can be made by means of the knots shown in fig. 4 and formed on the drawing around a curved element of the frame; but this element could as well be rectilinear. This provision will be explained later.

   The chair shown in fig. 5 comprises a backrest 7 and a seat 8, exactly constituted as shown in FIG. 1.

   The application of this same type of support surface as a backrest for an individual automobile front seat is shown in fig. 6. As can be seen, the frame 1, 2, 3, 4 is angled

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 its two top ends. and low. It is obvious that these bends do not change, in. nothing the embodiment ..

   However, as shown in the drawing and as also seen in FIG. 5 - '. The two strands 5 and 6 are here linked together by a strand 9, which indicates that it is done. use of a single, continuous thread, instead of * two sections of;

     separate threads. Of course we can also make backsplashes for bench seats instead of individual seats.,
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, on a quadrangular frame 10,11,12 and 13, are stretched three series of wires whose planes are applied one against the other, each series forming a five-pointed star .. 'These stars are differentiated on the figure by the fact that one 14, is re-. presented in strong lines, a second 15, in thin lines, and the last 16, in broken lines.

   As can be seen, the vertices of star 14 are attached to points a, b, c, d and e on all four sides of the frame, the starting point being optional; the vertices of star 15, located at points f, g, h, i and j, are offset on the frame with respect to the corresponding vertices of star 14; finally the vertices of star 16, designated by the references k, 1, m, n, o, are interposed between the corresponding vertices of the first two stars.

   The drawing shows that the numerous crossing points of the strands constituting the three stars 14, 15 and 16, either with themselves or with the other strands, are distributed in bold over an annular surface of variable width and constituting the zone of optimum support.

   The embodiment shown in FIG. 3 is quite similar to the previous one; differs only by the fact that the frame 17 is here circular and not quadrangular, which makes it possible to form stars 14a, 15a, and 16a, equal and regular. It follows that the crossing points of the strands of the superimposed stars are located this time inside

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 a regular annular surface constituting the optimum support zone. Of course, as in the previous case, this bearing surface can be established either with the aid of separate strands or with the aid of a single strand. The three stars can be tinted differently if desired and, of course, the nature and size of the strands can also differ.

   Returning now to fig. 4, which relates rather to the embodiment according to FIG. 3, in this fig. 4, let us say, the reference 17 designates a section of the circular frame and 18,19, 20 designates three types of knots which can preferably be used to secure the vertices of the stars to said frame . The knot 18 is known among other things under the name of "reversed half-hitches" and its shape is clear. illustrated. The node.20 is known among other things under the names of "demi-clef à capeler". Knot 19 is of the type of knot 18, but complicated by the fact that it is a starting point for a strand of thread.

   Naturally, the established surfaces. according to the invention can receive multiple uses. Thus, for example, such framed surfaces can be sold to be assembled by furniture manufacturers, either as seats, or as backrests or backsplashes, or even as bench seats for automobiles, and other uses.

   Finally, it goes without saying that the embodiments described and represented have been given only by way of examples and that modifications of detail can be made to them without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
