<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to machines for continuous extraction, more particularly according to the graded size process.It is characterized in that said machine is provided with a cable hauling device, intended to complete its propulsion members and to maintain its disintegrating head on its own trajectory during 12 extraction the present invention relates to an improvement in the machine for 1% continuous extraction described in the Belgian patent application of March 28, 1956 n 4300285 (patent 546,519) for "Apparatus and method for large size coal mining ".
It has been found that, under certain conditions, the propulsion organs of this machine are not able to push the disintegrating head at the desired speed, in the compact ore of the deposit, and that due to its structure, this disintegrating head exhibits an inherent tendency to deflect outward from the working face during extraction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The improvement brought by the present invention to the machine described in the above patent application consists in providing an additional propulsion member to help the advance of the disintegrating head in the ore, and to reduce its tendency to be deflected laterally. outward from the tail front during the decay of compacted ore. The member according to the invention intended to facilitate the advance of the disintegrating head and to prevent it from being deflected, preferably consists of a cable hauling device comprising a winch, the cable being attached to the extraction machine and exerting on it a constant traction force directed forward,
and applied to the outer side of this machine, as it advances along the large size. the. The present invention therefore relates to the production of an improved machine for continuous extraction, comprising an improved propulsion and guide member. This member is intended to oppose the deviation of the disintegrating head. outward from the face during extraction. 11 consists of a cable hauling device, comprising a winch placed in front of the machine and in the direction of which the latter moves as it is extracted.
By way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention has been described below and shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view, and FIG. 2, a view in elevation of a large-scale mining machine, in working position in a mine, combined with an embodiment of the device according to the invention 1a. fig. 3 is a large scale front view of the sorted disintegrated xx head of the machine, taken along line 3-3 of fig 1

The rod 5 is an elevational view of the fixing of the cable shown in FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 shows the winch in plan,
In the embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing, the machine for continuous extraction in large sizes, is generally designated by 1, and the cable hauling device, by .2.
The large-scale extraction machine, which is fully described in the patent application mentioned above, essentially comprises a movable base 3, 9 preferably mounted on tracks, so as to be able to move on the ground of the machine. mine and supporting an elongated frame 4, the front end of which carries a mechanism intended to attack and disintegrate the ore deposit and which is called the disintegrating head, and generally designated by 5 0 The disintegrating head comprises a pair of tools rotary perforators, arranged so as to cooperate, which are called perforating heads, 6 and 7, and are mounted on parallel longitudinal axes,
as well as a tool 8 to even out the top and sides placed across the frame behind the perforating tools and tools 9 and 10 to even out the bottom and sides placed transversely in the area between the even tool the top and the perforating tools. A conveyor, designated by 11, is arranged lengthwise in the frame 4; it comprises a front elevator 12 and a rear discharge conveyor 13. * The rear conveyor 13 can dump onto a conveyor 14 of any type. 0 The crawler frame 3 consists of a frame 15 rigidly fixed to the side frames 16, around which the caterpillars 17 are mounted so as to be able to turn endlessly.
These caterpillars can be driven independently of each other, and their movements can be concurrent or dissociated.

tincts to allow the propulsion and direction of the machine, according to the known principle.
Figs. 1 and 2 show the machine moving along a large frame 18, inside a row of roof props 19.
The tool 8 for leveling the top and the sides works at roof height, and it comprises a guide frame 20, on which an endless chain provided with knives, 21, is guided so as to turn endlessly. Its tools 9 and 10 for leveling the bottom and the sides are arranged on the opposite sides of the frame 4, and they have guide frames 22 for endless chains provided with knives 23.
During the work of the disintegrating head, the knife chains 23 intended to equalize the sides and the bottom, turn in opposite directions to each other, and they consequently exert transverse forces which are substantially balanced. , while the chain 21 to equalize the top exerts an uncompensated force, which tends to move the front face of the machine away from the cutting face, in the direction indicated by arrow 24 in FIG. 3. The tracks can be actuated so that the machine advances properly, and the operator, by acting appropriately on these tracks, can correct, to a certain extent, the deviations of the machine during its advance, so as to get a straight cut.
It has been found that, under certain conditions, the tracks are not able to produce sufficient forward thrust to advance the disintegrator head at the proper speed, and that these tracks do not always provide the means to oppose suitably to the deviation of the disintegrating head towards the exterior of the forehead
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
size which is due to the imbalance produced by the force exerted by the chain 21 serving to equalize the top. The aim of the cable hauling device according to the invention is to eliminate these drawbacks.
The cable towing device comprises a conventional winch, the drum 26 of which is journalled on a base 27; which can be appropriately anchored in the main gallery 28, at the left end 'of the large size 18, as shown in fig 1. A motor 29 mounted on the pedestal drives, through a suitable transmission, a pump 30, which can send pressurized fluid to a hydraulic motor 31, which is suitably coupled to the drum 26 of the winch. .
On this drum is wound a cable 32, the free end is fixed at 33; so as to be able to PIVOT, to a connecting bar 34 which is preferably curved at 35 to disengage the knives from the neighboring chain 23. This connection bar 34 is fixed at 36, so as to be able to pivot to a horizontal pivot 37, disposed at right angles to the connection pivot 33 of the wedge to the connection bar.
Of course, the cable can be attached to the outer side of the machine head in any suitable way. the pull exerted by the cable on the outer side of the head produces a torque around the crawler frame, which tends to oppose the opposite torque produced by the chain serving to equalize the top, which has the effect of to bring the disintegrating head towards the Interior, in its suitable working position.
The suction of the pump 30 is connected in the usual way to a suitable reservoir 39, and a
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Ordinary adjustable exhaust valve, 40, adjusts the cable pull to its proper value. This exhaust valve can also prevent excessive pressures from building up in the hydraulic system. The transmission 41 between the hydraulic motor 31 and the drum 26 of the winch is preferably of the usual type, with several speeds, 2 which makes it possible to wind the cable at different speeds.
As the extraction machine advances along the large size, under the pressure of the crawler frame, the cable 32 of the hauling device exerts a constant traction on the machine frame, which is added to the effort of the crawlers. , and thus increases the forward thrust of the machine; when the tracks are stopped, the winch simply locks, without ceasing to exert a traction forwards. The traction exerted by the cable on the outer side of the machine head tends to move the latter towards the inside of the cutting face, appreciably balancing the force produced by the chain serving to equalize the top, which, for its part, tends to move the head towards the outside of the said waistline. ..
The operator can control the ohenillew so that the machine advances correctly, and, thanks to these same tracks, he can correct the deviations which occur during the advance, so that the head makes a straight cut. the machine for continuous large-scale extraction according to the invention can be relatively light, while still being able to perform an efficient and straight cut in the compact ore of a deposit. The cable hauling device can not only empty the
