<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The object of the invention is a table-desk assembly with seat, the combined arrangements of which allow use at will, and by instant adaptation, either as a desk for writing, drawing, studying, etc. either as a study, drawing, demonstration board ...
This assembly is provided with a seat which can be used both for a table arrangement and for a desk. Another important characteristics of said assembly resides in the judiciously articulated assembly of its elements, with stopping means, which allows rapid folding to bring it to a minimum volume and bulk, although the assembly is perfectly stable in deployed position of use. This folding set is of the greatest interest, considering that the school desks are frequently used only a short time each day, and that it is advantageous to reduce their size to a minimum outside the periods of 'use.
In the appended drawing which illustrates a non-limiting embodiment of the subject of the invention:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the console table with seat, in the position of the assembly deployed for the use of the table. The dashed line illustrates
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the operating position of the console.
Figure 2 is a side view of the assembly folded and reduced to its minimum bulk.
Figure 3 is a partial perspective view of the console table.
FIG. 4 is a partial sectional view of the seat and of the foot which carries it, in the deployed position of use.
The table-desk with seat essentially comprises an easel which is executed in a tube in a preferred manner ,, but not exclusively, and which comprises a frame consisting of uprights 1 and an upper spacer 1 1, preferably in one piece. An oblique support 2, U-shaped, ensures the stability of the easel. The support 2 is advantageously made of a single folded tubular element, the horizontal support branch of which can be curved to present two points of contact on the floor.
The ends of the support ± are cut in a whistle so as to bear obliquely against the uprights 1. These ends are made integral, by welding or otherwise, with the yokes ± whose sides are articulated on the uprights 1.
A solid panel, preferably rectangular, is articulated between the uprights 1. This panel is made of wood or any other material usable for this purpose. The hinge pins 5 are fixed on the uprights 1, and the ends of these pins are engaged in holes drilled in the thickness of the panel 4.
The panel! has dual use. On the one hand it constitutes a table with one of these large faoes 41, when said panel 4 is placed substantially in the plane of the uprights 1. In this position, the panel 4 is stopped against a fixed stop rod 6, by welding or otherwise, on the back of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
uprights 1. The rod 6 is}? linked. (figure 3). and its end 61 is bent and curved to resiliently end at the end 6 is bent and curved to resiliently friction against the thickness of the upper side of the panel 4, when the latter is folded down in the plane of the uprights, for use like table.
The panel 4 is thus retained and positioned in its use as a table, without preventing it from being folded under a voluntary pivoting force for this purpose.
On the other hand, the panel 1 forms a console (drawn in dotted lines, FIG. 1), when it is folded down in a substantially horizontal plane. It is the large opposite face 42 of the panel 4 which constitutes the work plan. The desk position of the panel 4 is fixed by abutment against a tube or spacer rod 7 fixed between the branches of the oblique support 2, by any known means.
To better ensure the positions of the panel 1 in its different uses, said panel is centered at 5 to the uprights 1, preferably at points close to the large underside, when considered in the position of use. as an array.
A seat is formed, for example, by a tubular frame 8, with a trim panel 9 fixed by riveting on lugs integral with said frame, or by any other known means. A tubular bar 10, or any other suitable element, provides a rigid connection between the seat frame 8-9 and a spacer bar mounted to rotate between the uprights 1, by its ends which are centered on rods 11 integral with one another. said amounts.
The seat comprises a foot 12 constituted for example by a tubular element folded in the shape of a U, the ends of which are centered in the yokes 13 fixed by welding or otherwise.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
under the frame 8. The articulations of the ends of the foot 12 are such that, in the position of use of the seat, the foot is butted against the yokes 13 (figure 4), with an oblique position opposite to that of the supporta, to '.lieux ensure the stability of the seat and the deployed assembly.
In addition, the table-desk can carry various instructive and educational accessories ... For example, following the non-limiting example of the drawing: an abacus whose balls 14 can slide on rods or rod-spacers 15 between uprights 1, at the top of these uprights; an alarm clock 16, with mobile and synchronized hands, carried by a rod 17 welded to the spacer 11, etc.
Without departing from the scope of the invention, it is possible to establish the uprights 1, the support 2, the foot 12 of the seat, the rigid connecting element 10, to make them adjustable, by any well known means, such as sliding tubes and locking device in the adjustment position. The lower longitudinal side of the panel 4 (lower edge of the switchboard) may carry a stop ruler, or else a bucket or instrument holder mounted to pivot freely. A folding backrest can be added to the seat.
From the description and the drawing emerges the interest and the conveniences of the console table of the invention, the same panel being usable, by instantaneous transformation, both as a table and as a pu @ itre, without that it is necessary to erase the inscriptions from the board, and in a comfortable sitting position. The folding of the articulated elements of the assembly makes it possible to reduce it almost instantaneously to a minimum bulk (figure 2). Back means of attachment of the elements can be provided for the folded position.
