 EMI3.2

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 EMI4.1

 EMI4.3
 ltacide 2-, 3- ou 4-aminobenzoique> l'acide 1-aminobenzne-2-, -3- ou -4-sulfonique, l'acide l-amlnobenzène-2g5-dlsulfonique, 1'acide 2-amina-.-m'hoxybenzéne--guïol.que, l'acide 2-aminobensoïque-4- ou -5-otllfonîque, l'acide 4- ou 5-acétylamino-2-aminobenzène-1-sulfonique, l'acide .-aminonaphalène-5- ou -6-monosulfonique, l'acide 2-aminonaphtalène-4-, -6- ou -7-suifonlque, l'acide 1-amînonaphtalene-3.6-dîsulfonîque, l'acide 2-aminonaphtalène-3,6-disulfonique ou -4,8-dîcu2fonJoize l'acide 2-amlnonaphtalene-5?7-disulfonique l'acide 1-(3'- ou 4'-aminobenzoyl)-aminobenzéne-3-sulfoniquep l'acide 3-aïninopyrêne-8-- ou -10-monoulfonique, l'acide 3-am3.nopne-5,8- ou -5j,

  10-dlsulfon3.quej, l'acide 4-nîtro-41-aminoatilbène-2,21-dîsulfonïque, l'acide déhydrohioo.uid3ne- mono- ou disu3.'ot2ique, etc.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 EMI5.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

  Coupling of the azoic compounds thus obtained with the acids 2-ami; io-8-hydr'orrà> naphthaléna-6-xulfoniquex or with the acids 2-araino-5 "hy <3roxynaphthalene-7-sulfonique

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   defined above also takes place according to the methods known in themselves, in an alkaline medium.

   A variant of the process described for the preparation of the dyes of formula (1) consists in building up the haloacyl residue of the kind indicated, not in the finished dyes, but in the amino group of 2-aminonapthol-sulfonic acids to be used as coupling components. for the preparation of dyes (for example by acylating acid or acid J with ss-chloropropionyla chloride or with ss-bromopropionyl chloride, and coupling the acylation products thus obtained with the components of diazotization also indicated).

   The acylation is advantageously carried out in the presence of agents capable of binding acids, croaking sodium acetate or sodium carbonate. During the acylation, it should preferably be carried out that the product formed contains an exchangeable halogen atom, for example by working in a weakly acidic to neutral medium and / or at temperatures kept as low as possible.

   Despite the presence of labile halogen atoms in the dyes of formula (1), these can, without losing their valuable properties, be isolated and processed to give dry preparations

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 usable in dyeing. To isolate these dyes in accordance with the invention, the operation is preferably carried out at temperatures as low as possible, by salting out and filtration. The filtered dyes can be dried, if necessary after addition of cutting agents; preferably, the drying is carried out at not too high temperatures and under reduced pressure.

   By subjecting the entire preparation mixture to spray-drying it is in some cases possible to obtain the dry preparations directly, that is to say without intermediately isolating the dyes.

   These new dyes. of formula (1) are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, such as sole, leather, wool, superpolyurethane and superpolyamide fibers, but especially for dyeing and printing polyhydroxy materials of fibrous structure like cellulose, linen, regenerated cellulose and especially cotton. They are particularly suitable for dyeing in the presence of a slcali, in highly saline aqueous baths. It is recommended to obtain a better exhaustion of the bath or to better fix the dyes on the fiber, to heat the bath to 90-100 during the dyeing operation.

   The dyeing of poyhydroxylated materials with the dyes according to the invention can also be carried out by printing or by padding the article to be dyed.

 being impregnated with a scarf with a concentrated solution of dye. The dyes in accordance with the invention which are applied to the fibers by padding, printing or direct dyeing can be fixed on the fibers by a heat treatment in the presence of, for example in the presence of sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide , alkaline earth metal hydroxides, trisodium phosphate, etc.

   With the dyes in accordance with the invention, on poylhydroxylated materials, in particular on cellulosic materials, very interesting dyes and prints are obtained, vigorous, most of the time very solid, which exhibit remarkable fastness to treatments in the presence of water and good light fastness.

   In certain cases, it may be advantageous to subject the dyes obtained by the present process to a subsequent treatment. This is how; for example, that the dyes obtained are advantageously soaped; by this further treatment, the amounts of dye which are not completely fixed are removed.

   The invention is described in more detail in the non-limiting examples which follow. In these examples, and unless otherwise indicated, the parts and percentages are by weight, and the temperatures are indicated in degrees centigrade.
