Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The object of the present invention is to produce the valve bodies for various destinations under particularly economical conditions, and it thus envisages making these valve bodies starting from simple elements which can be produced at low cost, for example on automatic bar turning machines which are commonly used in mechanical engineering.

In fact, until now, the manufacture of valves and mainly that of valves to be used at high pressures, has been solved by the use of forged or cast bodies. These manufacturing methods, if they are satisfactory, are nevertheless expensive. The forging of bodies requires significant tools and expensive labor. The molding is also expensive and moreover a large number of parts has to be discarded or to be repaired because of the defects which are observed during the pressurization of the rollers.

The inventor thought that by breaking down the valve body into simple elements, which can be produced, for example, on automatic machines and then being welded together or rigidly assembled in another technical way, it would make it possible to produce valve bodies. offering all the desirable security and cost-effective.

The invention therefore consists of a method of manufacturing valves the body of which is made up of several elements, which are produced separately from pieces of equipment machined and finished on automatic machines, in particular bar turning machines, preferably in an operative pass, these elements then being juxtaposed to be rigidly assembled by welding, screwing or other suitable technical method.
The invention is applicable to the manufacture of straight, angle or multi-way valves.

The invention will be described by way of example for the manufacture of a straight valve, with reference to the accompanying drawing.

Figures 1 and 2 show, end views and axial section, the left-hand element of the valve, this part being completely finished before welding on the central part.

FIGS. 5 and 6 are similar views showing the right-hand element of the valve, this part being entirely finished before it is welded to the central part.

Figures 3 and 4 show, in section and side view, the central part of the valve, this part being completed. On diametrically opposed flats of this central part are applied the elements of Figures 1, 2 and 3.6 respectively to be electrically welded. It remains, after welding, to drill the holes B giving transverse passage and to calibrate the conical wound C in order to correct any deformation produced by the electric welding.

FIG. 7 shows the entire valve constructed on the basis of a valve body composed of at least three parts welded together.

The rigid assembly of the prefabricated constituent elements of the valve bodies can also be done by screwing, these elements then provide the threaded et.taraudés means arranged suitably. In particular cases the assembly could be done by matting, expansion or other technical method.
