Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of rose plant of the tea hybrid class, obtained by a cross between the variety called "MADAME MEILLAND" as mother, fertilized by an original seedling. of the rose. "OPERA" as father.

   The main goal in: {doing this cross was to get a better color. than a flower on vigorous stems of these two varieties of roses. This goal was achieved in a marked way, as evidenced by the minimum brangled color of the petals, derived from "OPERA", as well as by the vigorous growth and spontaneous flowering of the new variety, thus showing the trans- fert of the characteristics of both parents.

   Apart from the one coloring characteristic which is particularly evident in the flower, an important new characteristic of the new rose is the unique and interesting coloring of the minimum brilliant orange color on all the petals. This coloring sets this new strain apart from another mini color, which is an obvious point in a distinct heritage from one of its orange parents.

   Another important characteristic of this new variety is the persistence of color when the flower is open.

   From a biological point of view, the sexual reproduction of this new variety of rose by grafting in different regions and climates, in particular in NEWARK, Nex-York, in the United States, in ONTARIO, in PLEASENTON in CALI- FORNIA, in CANADA, in IRELAND, in MADRID in SPAIN, in MASSY S - & - O) and in FEYZIN in FRANCE, shows that the preceding characteristics are truly formed and are established and transmitted by successive reproductions.

   To enable this rose to be identified, appended to this descrip- tion is a color reproduction which shows, half-open, a flur of this variety of roseo
As he has .; been indicated above, the relationship of this variety of rose is as follows:
Sowing:. mother: rose MADAME MEILLAND father: sowing of the OPERA rose
Below is a detailed physical description of this new variety with indications of the colors.
