 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 admissible.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   tienne.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 valeur.

     DEVICE 'TO CONTROL THE OPERATION OF
FAULT CURRENT CIRCUIT BREAKERS @
The present invention relates to a device for controlling the operation of fault current circuit breakers.

   It is; known to protect electrical installations against a cod contact voltage by means of a fault current circuit breaker which, during the appa. contact voltage too high (usually 65 w). cuts the incoming current in a very short time

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 at all blades. To control the function of such a circuit breaker fitted with fault current ;, a fault current of the value of the limit fault current (tripping current) is artificially produced, after which the fault current circuit breaker, when the land is faultless, is triggered and interrupts the flow of current.

   Until now, a variable-value ohmic resistor has been used for this purpose, which is connected to an outer conductor of the fault current circuit breaker and to the earth conductor. In this case, however, it may happen, when checking the circuit breaker, that the permissible contact voltage (for example 65 v) is exceeded and rises, for example, up to 220 v, without the fault current circuit breaker turning on. triggers and this, in particular, when, for example, the earth is bad or the earth conductor has not been connected through negligence. In this case, not only the controller, but also the people working on the electrical installation, are at great risk.

   The object of the invention is now the production of a device for controlling the operation of circuit breakers fitted with fault current by using an ohmic resistance of variable value, said device excluding the aforementioned drawbacks.

   This problem is essentially solved by the fact that in the conductor arriving at the ohmic resistance there is a circuit breaker controlled by a relay, the 'relay is connected in parallel with the ohmic resistance, while the relay holding the switch in the off position. closing is set for a voltage equal to the difference between the mains voltage and the contact voltage

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 eligible.

   By this measure, in the case of a mains voltage of 220 v for example, the circuit breaker controlled by the relay or the like falls, when the admissible contact voltage is exceeded, for example 65 v, because then the voltage on the relay is smaller than the 155V withholding voltage which is required for the switch to close.

   Details of a preferred embodiment are further characterized by the fact that a relay with three contact parts, which can be activated by a push-button and whose coil is designed as a coil, is used as the switch. direct current, relay vis-à-vis which is mounted, in series, a rectifier and, in parallel with the relay, a capacitor, a contact part of the relay in the conductor going to the ohmic resistance, another part of contact in the conductor going to the coil of the relay and the third contact piece in the conductor going to a luminescence lamp mounted in parallel with the ohmic resistor, another luminescence lamp being furthermore, mounted in parallel with all the parts of contact,

Another embodiment of the object of the invention is characterized by the fact that an ammeter is coupled in series with the ohmic resistance.

   A further feature is the fact; that the device has a pole inverter in the supply conductor.

   Finally, a characteristic resides in the fact that a series resistor is associated with the relay
A detail allowing more adjustment of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 The device is characterized by the fact that the series resistor is realized in the form of an adjustable resistor without stages.

   The drawing shows the coupling diagram of an exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention.

   The device for controlling the operation of circuit-breakers fitted with fault current consists of an ohmic resistor 1 with several outputs, with which a relay 2 is coupled in parallel. Comprising three contact pieces 2, 3, 4 .. The relay can be switched on. using a push button 6.

   Relay 2 is associated with a resistor in series, a rectifier 8 and, for filtering, a capacitor. The device also has two luminescent lamps 10 and 11, an ammeter 12 and two connection contacts 13 and 14.

   When checking a fault current circuit breaker, proceed as follows:
First of all, the device is connected by non-connecting contacts 13, 14 to the earth conductor 15 and to a phase of the fault current circuit breaker, the resistance being adjusted to its highest value. If the protective conductor is earthed, the luminescent lamp 10 lights up. Then press the button. push-button 6. If the contact resistance is then smaller than the permissible contact voltage (eg 65 v). relay 2 ... is working. closes contact pieces 2. 3. 4 and remains in the closed position, because it is connected to the phase through contact piece 4 and series resistor 7.

   At the same time, the luminescence lamp 11 lights up, indicating that the relay has operated.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   yours. In order to produce the artificial fault current, the value of the is then reduced. chemical resistance 1 until the fault current circuit breaker trips, before the permissible contact voltage is exceeded, and cuts off the current to all the blades, the tripping current being able to be read on the ammeter.

     If, however, when the permissible contact voltage is exceeded, the fault current circuit breaker does not trip, the voltage drop is greater than 65 v, for example, and as a result the voltage on the relay is higher. less than the mains voltage minus the permissible contact voltage (for a mains voltage of 220 v and for an permissible contact voltage of 65 v, this voltage is therefore less than 155 v), the relay then drops, interrupts the arrival of the current and turns on the luminescence lamp 11, so that the controller is protected, on the one hand, from an increased contact voltage and advised, on the other hand, by the extinction of the lamp luminescence 11, that the fault current circuit breaker and / or the earth conductor is defective.

   In addition, however, the controller is however also then protected against an increased contact voltage when, for example when actuating the push-button 6 and a faulty earth, the resistor 1 is set to a small value and, by As a result, a high contact voltage exceeding the permissible contact voltage would be present because, despite actuation of the push button, the relay would not operate. It is the same also during the repetition of a control, when by mistake resistance 1, has been adjusted to a small

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 value. It is also advantageous to use a potentiometer as a chemical resistance, since this results in smaller dimensions of the housing for the device.

   The stepped ohmic resistance can, for a network voltage of 220 V, be established, for example, as follows:
