<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Adjustable toe heel
The present improvement request relates to a topped heel for shoes, mainly for ladies' shoes; the tip can be replaced very easily without requiring any tool.
Provision has already been made for a rod extending into the tapered part of the heel, which is arranged first to receive a rotational movement, then to cooperate with the tip, so as to allow engagement and fixing. of said tip in the heel, as well as the clearance, according to the direction of rotation given to the rod.
The present application is essentially aimed at ensuring easier manufacture of the heel and, consequently, which requires less labor.
One of the characteristics is that at least
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the tapered part of the heel is provided an orifice directed approximately vertically and opening into a recess the opening of which is located in the internal arch of the heel, in the recess is housed a wheel provided with a threaded hole intended to receive the free end of a threaded rod integral with a front end engaged in the orifice, the rotation of the knob ensuring the installation of the tip, while a rotation in the opposite direction determines the removal of said tip .
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description and of the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 is a view in section of the heel with tip, FIG. 2 gives an elevational view of the tip.
According to the embodiment shown in the drawing, the heel 1 is provided with a housing in which is clamped, for example during molding, a sleeve 2. The sleeve 2 is partially widened at its base to receive the fore-end 3 of a butt 4, while the enlarged pon part serves as a guide for a threaded rod integral with said butt.
In a recess 6 provided in the heel, into which the threaded rod 5 emerges, is slid a wheel 7 provided centrally with an axial hole in which the said threaded rod is screwed.
For fixing a butt 4, it suffices to introduce the threaded rod 5 into the sleeve 2 until it can be screwed into the wheel 7; it then suffices to rotate said wheel juaqu'à complete introduction of the front end 3 into the socket.
It is thus obtained a heel with a reduced labor; moreover, a more rational attachment is obtained because the front gets stuck in the funnel part 8 between the two different internal diameters of the socket 2.
It is understood that the rod 5 must not be threaded
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
over its entire length, and that it can be knurled at one of its ends for its retention in the fore-end.
By this tightening, in part 8 of the socket, the tip is first held against the lower part of the heel, while the forefoot is stuck at its upper part, so there is no longer any fear of first a slight displacement of the tip which is always unpleasant when walking for the user, then an unscrewing of the knob given that there is a reaction from the front end which tends to emerge from part 8 in which he was gradually stuck.
The invention has been described and illustrated purely. indicative and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that many modifications can be made to its details without departing from its mind.
