Soutien-gorge

Serial No 988,416 non encore accordées à ce jour.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

En considérant seulement la fixation d'une bretelle 11 au sous-vêtement, on voit que seule la bande 13 de la bre- ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Bra
For all practical purposes, the Applicant Company declares that a corresponding patent application has been filed, among others, in
Great Britain October 14, 1963 under Serial No
40 456/63, in Australia on November 7, 1963 under Serial No 37 386 in New Zealand on November 4, 1963 sets the

Serial No. 14612/63, released in France on September 17, 1964 under the
Serial No 988,416 not yet granted to date.
The invention relates to improvements made to bras and more particularly to a bra provided with a pair of elastic straps passing over the shoulders, crossing at the front so as to constitute an elastic support. for the gussets of the bra, and extending towards the rear so as to constitute an elastic support for the waist band of the bra.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
An attempt has been made to produce a bra which has the maximum supportive effect and which is as comfortable as possible. This has been achieved to some extent by providing the bra with elastic panels woven in such a way that they are extensible in a predetermined direction.
Elasticity has also been obtained by creating an overlapping effect in the part located between the gussets. in order to reduce the pulling effect exerted by one or the other side of the bra. Canadian patent 568,668 of January 6.
1959 discloses this overlap effect However the elasticity obtained was reduced by the more rigid structure of various other parts of the undergarment such as the bonding between the various panels and the attachment of non-elastic shoulder bands. , with or without elastic interior fittings.
The present invention seeks to overcome the above drawbacks in order to complete the elasticity of the brassiere; it essentially consists in providing it with a pair of shoulder straps of extended length. Each shoulder strap extends along the top edge of the undergarment side panel to end at the back at the undergarment attachment and extends to the front of the undergarment along the bottom. top edge of a portion of the adjacent gusset, then across and along the separation between the opposite gusset and the top edge of the body fron strip.
, tale, At the point of intersection of the straps between the gussets,: one strap overlaps freely on the other, which prevents a trauma exerted by one of the straps from passing to the other. The invention is further characterized by the fact that each strap consists of two bands of elastic material laid flat in the same plane and having their adjacent longitudinal edges connected, while being spaced apart, by a loose looped seam, so that one of the bands can
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
be slightly displaced longitudinally relative to the other, The invention is further characterized by the fact that the undergarment is only attached to one of the bands of each strap so that,
where the strip is attached to a panel that has elongated in the same direction as the strip to which. the it is linked, the elongation of the band, at its joint with the panel, is only reduced by one fraotion. On the other hand, the adjacent band of the straps being fixed to the bra only by means of the loose stitching which connects the bands, said adjacent band is stretchable over its entire length and its elongation, relative to to the adjacent strip, is limited only by the elasticity of the seam connecting the strips.
The object of the invention is to provide a bra having a pair of elastic straps, each of which forms on the front of the undergarment a support soue one of the gussets, extending to form a shoulder strap. 'apart and being secured along an upper edge of the undergarment toward the rear attachment.
Another object of the invention is to provide a bra provided with a pair of elastic straps fixed by a longitudinal edge to the front and rear parts of the garment soue and having an intermediate part forming free loops for them. shoulders.
Another object of the invention is to provide a brassiere having a pair of support straps formed from two distinct bands of elastic material connected edge to edge but spaced apart, the brassiere only being attached. one of the bands of each of said straps.
Another object of the invention is to provide a bra, certain panels of which are extensible in the same direction as the straps to which they are attached.

<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a pair of gussets 6 of the front body band parts 1 and of the side panels 8 It has the usual eyelets and fixing hooks. 2 and 10 for its fixing The panels 1 are woven so that they are extensible in the vertical direction as indicated by arrows A,
while the panels 8 are woven in such a way that they are stretchable in the horizontal direction as indicated by the arrows B.
Two straps 11 are each formed of two bands 12 and 13 of elastic material, these bands placed side by side flat but spaced apart from each other are connected by a loop seam 14 so that they can move. a little longitudinally relative to each other.
With particular reference to Figures 1, 2 and 3, it can be seen that the straps 11 extend from the rear ends of the undergarment, along a part of the upper edge of the panels 8, each forming a free bouole for the shoulders, extend along the top center edge of the adjacent gusset to intersect on the center and front line of the bra, then pass under the bottom of the opposite gusset. -
Considering only the attachment of a strap 11 to the undergarment, we see that only the strip 13 of the patent;
such 11 is attached to the bra and that the band 12 is not attached directly to the undergarment but is connected to it by the intermediary of the seam 14 which unites the bands 12 and 13 Starting from the rear end 16 of the undergarment it can be seen that the strip 13 is fixed to the upper edge 17 of the panel 8 by the seam 18. Beyond the upper edge 17 of the panel

The sling ends at the join of gusset 6 and part .1 with side panel 8
The side panels µ being extensible in the horizontal senna, as indicated by the arrows B, the part of the strip 13 sewn to the panel 6 is also extensible, the adjacent part of the strip 12 being also, ' as a result, the strap 11 is extensible from the shoulder loop 15 to the rear attachment of the undergarment.
As seen in figure 3, the front panel 1 is attached to approximately only half of the adjacent strip 13 and leaves the other half 13a free to extend in its longitudinal direction, the part 13a and the strip adjacent 12 are free to lie down and together form an elastic support for the gussets 6 The elastic support of the uni of these gussets, thanks to the free parts of the bands 12 and 13 is not affected by traction any one exerted on the strap supporting the other gous set because the straps to the point where they overlap one on the other are entirely free to move independently of one another. They thus constitute independent support for each pocket.
So each gusset stays in place even if the person wearing the bra lifts his shoulder.
We can therefore see that the bands 12. except for their elastic attachment to the bands 13 by the looped seam
14 are bound to elongate over their entire length, and that the bands 13 may also elongate over a large part of their length.
An undergarment made as indicated above is elastic at the front and at the back; straps

shoulder 15 automatically compensate for the tensions arising at the front or at the back of the bra. Further, the fact that the straps 11 including the shoulder portions 15 are elastic over their entire length obviates the need to employ slidable metal adjustment clips for the shoulder straps.
Another feature of continuous straps 11 as seen in Figure 1 is that their upward and outward curvature from the underside of each gusset is directed in a direction away from the shoulder rather than; in a vertical direction as is usually the case when the shoulder straps are individually attached to the front and back. underwear.
