   BREVET D'INVENTION

DE CHARLEROI (ACEC). résidant à Bruxelles
CHAUFFE-EAU ELECTRIQUE.

  (Invention: Monsieur Robert   MONTENEZ.)

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

ELECTRIC WATER HEATER.

  (Invention: Mr. Robert MONTENEZ.)
The present invention relates to an electric water heater with storage under pressure or not. Electric water heaters on the market consist of a container made of copper or galvanized sheet steel and a heating resistor. At the bottom of the container there is an inspection hole through which pass not only the water inlet and outlet pipes and the thermostat, but also the conductors supplying the heating resistor. The heating resistor is often enclosed in a refractory insulating sheath surrounded by a metal tube.

   During the period of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 heating a large amount of heat must be transmitted through the small area of the metal tube protecting the resistance wire, so that this metal tube in contact with water is brought to temperatures high enough to / give rise to the formation of tartar. In order to alleviate the harmful effects of the scale deposit on the surface of the tube protecting the electric resistance wire, it is known practice to place a magnesium electrode near the resistance.

   The object of the invention is to reduce the formation of scale or even to completely avoid it by increasing the heating surface of the water heater. Its secondary purpose is to reduce the diameter of the inspection hole of the receptacle. It is characterized in that the heating resistor is an electrical resistor with a very large surface area wound around the lower half of the water receptacle. ,
Although it is known to wind an electrical resistance wire around a vessel containing water, this solution has been rejected by manufacturers of electric water heaters because of the expensive manufacturing processes. leads.

   The invention differs from this known method by the use of a single coil with a resistance of very large surface, constituted for example by a thin layer of aluminum on a strip of mica paper or another insulating support resistant to the heat.

   The invention is explained below with respect to an example of an advantageous embodiment, shown

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 in the accompanying drawing. Figure 1 of the drawing is a section through an electric water heater. Figures 2 and 3 show large area resistors developed.

   A copper receptacle 1 comprises an inspection hole 2 through which pass water inlet 3 and outlet 4 pipes, a thermostat 5 and possibly a magnesium electrode, not shown.

   Around the lower half of the container is wound a resistor with a very large surface area 6 and maintained with the aid of two crimping bands 7 and 8. The resistor with a very large surface area 6 can be formed, for example, according to FIG. 2, by a support. resistant to high temperatures coated with a thin layer of aluminum arranged in grècque to which the current is brought to the ends 9 and 10.

  According to FIG. 3 / the resistor with a very large surface area 6 is a strip of glass fabric impregnated with a mediocre conductor based on colloidal graphite. In this case, the crimping strips 7 and 8 can serve as supply conductors.

   A protective container 11 encloses the container 1 and a heat insulator is placed in the space between the two containers 1 and 11.
