Afin d'obvier aux inconvénients précités, la présente invention a pour objet un brûleur à mazout épais pour foyers de chaudières et fours industriels en géhéral, caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprends a) un élément tubulaire creux, assurant également des fonctions de support et d'entretoisement, pouvant être relié à une extrémité aux tuyauteries pré-existantes de l'installation et destiné à permettre la formation du mélange entre le mazout et l'air'(ou la vapeur) d'arrivée, ainsi que l@ transfert du mélange proprement dit vers les différents organes;
b) un pré-réchauffeur tubulaire, prévu dans le prolon- gement de l'axe du dit élément mélangeur-transporteur et constitué par deux tubes coaxiaux, le tube extérieur ayant une longueur supérieure à la longueur du tube in- térieur et étant obturé par un bouchon dont la surface intérieure est profilée en forme de déflecteur; c) un diffuseur formé par deux coquilles distinctes, vissées l'une sur l'autre et ménageant entre elles un espace creux conique d'épaisseur décroissante du centre vers la périphérie, le dit espace creux étant en commu- nication avec la chambre annulaire extérieure du pré- réchauffeur au moyen d'orifices obliques pratiqués dans la coquille supérieure et orientés vers le haut; le dit diffuseur étant disposé correspondant au point de raccor- dement entre l'élément mélangeur-transporteur et le pré- réchauffeur;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Le mélange qui se ferme ainsi parcourt la cavité de l'élément 4, lequel, en plus de sa fonction de mélangeur, assure celle de transporteur, permettant au mélange de parvenir aux organes successifs, En outre, le dit élément 4 a une fonction spécifie de support et d'entret@isement dans le but de soutenir les;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Thick oil burner, in particular, for rents of boilers and industrial ovens".
The present invention relates to a burner for thick fuel oils, intended in particular for boiler hearths and industrial ovens.
We know how difficult it is to obtain, in special burners, the complete combustion of thick and over-thick fuel oils, which, by virtue of their peculiar physical characteristics, tend to burn only partially, giving a percent - high level of carbonaceous residues and encrustations. As a result, the burners for which fuel oils of this type are used are subject to constant and expensive maintenance, making it necessary to

periodic operation. In addition, due to partial combustion, the fumes contain a high rate of carbon monoxide which increases their harmfulness index.
In order to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, the present invention relates to a thick oil burner for furnaces of boilers and industrial ovens in general, characterized in that it comprises a) a hollow tubular element, also providing support functions. and bracing, which can be connected at one end to the pre-existing pipes of the installation and intended to allow the formation of the mixture between the fuel oil and the incoming air (or steam), as well as the transfer from the mixture itself to the different organs;
b) a tubular preheater, provided in the extension of the axis of said mixer-conveyor element and consisting of two coaxial tubes, the outer tube having a length greater than the length of the inner tube and being closed by a cap whose interior surface is profiled in the form of a deflector; c) a diffuser formed by two distinct shells, screwed onto each other and leaving between them a conical hollow space of decreasing thickness from the center to the periphery, said hollow space being in communication with the outer annular chamber the preheater by means of oblique orifices made in the upper shell and oriented upwards; said diffuser being disposed corresponding to the point of connection between the mixer-conveyor element and the preheater;
all the aforesaid elements being connected to each other by means of screws; all arranged and mounted so that the air-fuel oil mixture (on start-up) or steam-fuel oil (under operating conditions) reaches the conical hollow space of the diffuser, producing with the combustion air a directed fan flame

upwards, after having traversed the mixing-conveyor element and the inner tube of the preheater in a down-up direction, as well as the outer annular chamber thereof in the reverse direction, and after having been deflected by the plug- deflector by absorbing during this last course, the heat supplied by the flame itself to the outer tube of the preheater,
the quantity of said heat being sufficient to cause the total gasification of the fuel oil particles which make up the mixture and to ensure, consequently, the complete combustion of this mixture.
According to the present invention, a plug provided with numerous radial orifices is applied to the fuel oil supply pipe in order to make the mixture of the fuel oil with the air (or steam) more homogeneous with the air (or steam) coming from the pipe provided for this purpose, mounted coaxial *
The invention will moreover be better understood by reference to the description which will follow and to the appended schematic drawing giving,. by way of example and without limitation, a preferred embodiment of the invention.

in water vapor according to a known technique, a tubular element 4 is screwed onto the outer pipe 2, hollow on the inside and having an initial conical length 4a ensuring a constriction of the passage section.
In correspondence with said conical length 4a is located the end of the fuel oil pipe 1, onto which is screwed a plug 3 comprising a ce%, - tain number of radial orifices 3a,
Consequently, the fuel oil arriving under pressure is forced to exit by laying through the said orifices, undergoing a first fractionation intended to make the mixture that it forms with the air (or with the steam) coming from the gas more homogeneous. tube 2 in the form of 94 ± ne tubular.
The mixture which thus closes passes through the cavity of the element 4, which, in addition to its function of mixer, ensures that of conveyor, allowing the mixture to reach the successive organs, In addition, said element 4 has a specific function support and maintenance in order to support the;

part, and a top seat 6d, internally threaded. The upper shell 7 comprises a threaded collar 7a intended to be screwed into the seat 6d of the lower shell 6, and a threaded seat 7c, partially surrounded by a projection 7b of hexagonal section forming a nut.
The opposite sides of the two shells 6 and
7, are delimited by conical surfaces 14a and 14b of different inclination, intended to form the said conical hollow space 14 on assembly.
In the body of the upper shell 7 are made a few oblique orifices 11 intended to place the cavity formed by the seat 7c in communication with the outer surface 14b, and consequently with the hollow space.
During assembly, the two shells form an axial cylindrical cavity in which a tube is housed.
8 vertical. This tube has at its lower end a collar 8a which is clamped between the top of the transporter 4, or more precisely of its bearing surface 4b, and the shoulder bearing 6c integral with the lower shell 6 of the diffuser, which ensures the blocking tube 8 on the burner assembly.
It should be noted that between the lower shell 6 and the conveyor 4 is arranged a special copper packing 5. In the threaded seat 7c of the upper shell 7 is screwed a pipe 9 embracing the tube coaxially on the outside. 8, the pipe 9 having a diameter appreciably greater than the pipe 8.
Said outer pipe 9, of greater height than that of the tube 8, is closed at its upper end by a threaded plug 10 in which the inner surface
13 is profiled so as to form a fan-shaped deflector.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The mixture of fuel oil and air (or steam), after having passed through the mixer-conveyor 4, passes into the inner tube 8, is deflected by the deflector 13 and travels in the opposite direction through the annular chamber 12, formed by the concentric tube and pipe 8 and 9. At the base of said chamber 12, the mixture meets the cou-. number of oblique holes 11 already mentioned; the mixture then reaches the conical hollow space 14, from which it passes to the outside in the form of a conical jet, giving rise to a fan-shaped flame directed upwards and in the center of which the formed assembly is located by the coaxial tube and pipe 8 and 9.
This assembly is therefore able to ensure the essential functions of a preheater, given that the mixture passing through the annular chamber 12 is heated by virtue of the heat given by the flame to the pipe 9.
The action of the preheater is such that it can cause the total gasification of the fuel oil particles forming the mixture, and consequently ensure the complete combustion of the fuel oil. The temperature and the pressure reached by the mixture in the preheater are maintained practically constant, these being a function of the traversing speed, which in turn is a function of the flow rate given to the burner for each operating speed. Consequently, once the relationships between volume, consumption, temperature and pressure have been determined, a self-regulating cycle is created guaranteeing the functional operation and safety of the burner.
The obvious advantages presented by such a burner in accordance with the invention can be summarized as follows: complete combustion of the fuel with total elimination of carbon monoxide fumes, ease of regulation:.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
operation without pushing the flame, except at start-up only, elimination of maintenance due to the absence of encrustation, fuel economy, due to the total exploitation of the caloric potential, economy of price due to the simplicity of the construction of the burner, etc.
An example of application of the burner described in a tubular boiler is shown in fig. 3 and 4 in which 15 is a lifting pantograph on which the actual burner is mounted, the reference 16 indicates the hearth, 17 the battery of tubes of the boiler, 18 the lower heat closing plane, through separated by an orifice 19 concentric with the burner and intended to allow the passage of the combustion air.
It is obvious that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and illustrated, and that numerous variations and improvements can be provided, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention. 'invention.
