<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Les caractéristiques et avantagea de la présente inven- tion ressortiront plus olairement de la description détaillée suivante de quelques exemples d'exécution, donnée à titre purement indicatif, sans caractère restrictif auoun, et illustrée par le dessin annexé, dont la figure 1 représente une vue latérale, moitié en coupe, de l'alternateur; la figure 2 représente une vue de face du coté collec- teur; la figure 3 représente une vue de face en élévation du coté poulie; la figure 4 représente une vue longitudinale en éléva- tion d'un autre exemple d'exécution;

"Advanced single-phase alternators".
The object of the present invention is a single-phase alternator, and more particularly a single-phase alternator intended for use in motor vehicles instead of a direct current generator or dynamo.
The majority of alternators used up to now in the automobile industry are three-phase, which presents great drawbacks of an economic order, but also technical difficulties with regard to their use on low-displacement motor vehicles.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
So that they can filled? the functions of the generators with direct current, the alternators must be equipped with some * diode in flat rectifiers which transform the alternating current produced by these alternators into direct current,
In the case of three-phase alternators, the number of diodes is air due to the specific nature of the alternator, tended that in the case of single-phase alternators only two diodes are needed, which has great economic and constructive advantages, since the price of diodes is high and their assembly is very delicate,
given that it is necessary to establish a bridge between three diodes and to isolate them from the cover in which they are placed and which is earthed.
The alternator forming the subject of the present invention consists of an internal member, rotor or inductor, provided with a shaft which rotates inside a casing formed by two covers, between which is mounted a stator or armature, whose function is to produce an alternating current, as a result of the variations of magnetic flux produced in its windings by the rotation of the rotor or inductor.
The rotor comprises a core provided with a winding, in which is mounted a shaft for rotating said rotor inside the stator or inductor, and a few slip rings allowing the passage of the excitation current to the inductor winding. At the end of the shaft are mounted a pulley and a fan, the first to drive the alternator by means of a transmission controlled by a mechanical motor and the second to dissipate the heat produced in the windings by Joule effect.
The carcass consists of two covers assembled to the stator and provided with lights to facilitate the evacuation of the heat produced inside the alternator, as well as support ribs for fixing the alternator in place to the

FIG. 5 represents a front elevational view of the oolleotor side of the alternator shown in FIG. 4; FIG. 6 represents a longitudinal elevational view of a still third exemplary embodiment; FIG. 7 represents a front view in elevation of the oolleotor side of the alternator represented by FIG. 6.
The alternator according to the invention consists mainly of a rotor or inductor 1 and an etator or armature 2. The rotor or inductor .1 consists of an iron core 3, on which is wound a winding 1 on a coil of insulating material 4, which winding generates a magnetic field which closes across the poles 6 and the armature 2.
In the coil of insulating material are implemented some dowels 7 which, at the same time as they facilitate the fixing of the coil in the magnetic core, serve to insulate the ends of the windings, which are connected.

with oolleotrioes rings. The rotor is mounted on a shaft 8 to allow its rotation inside the stator or armature 2, while at the front end of said shaft are implemented a ventilation member 1 and a pulley 10, to rotate the rotor. rotor 1 under the action of a mechanical motor via a transmission, At the rear end of the shaft 8, integral with the rotor 1, two slip rings are mounted,
one axial 11 and the other radial 12, to produce the excitation of the inductor 1 through two brushes, one negative 14 and the other positive 13, fixed to brush holders 15 and 16 respectively, the second 16 of which is integral with the oouville oolleoteur, through which the oirouit closes on the mass.
The stator or armature ?. consists of a ring 17, composed of a number of elementary sheet metal rings, provided inside with a few longitudinal grooves, where the coils of the armature are housed.
The stator is joined to the whole of the alternator by two covers 19 and 20, forming with it a frame, inside which the rotor 1 is housed. In the cover 19, on the collector side, are placed two diodes 21 for rectifying the alternating current generated in the armature. The current is taken from terminal 22, connected in parallel with a capacitor 23 to avoid parasitic interference from radio receivers.
A terminal 24, connected inside the device with the armature at a point located before the diodes, makes it possible to take alternating current. The excitation of the inductor is made by a terminal 25, which is connected inside the device with the positive brush 13, the return to ground being done by the brush 14.

respectively 26 and 27, arranged at equal distances on their surface. The assembly of the two covers 19 and 20 with the stator 2 to form the casing is effected by means of three tie-bolts 28, distributed at equal distances around the periphery of the covers.
The alternator is fixed on the job by means of a few supports 29, 12 and 31 integral with the covers and provided with a few holes for the passage of the fixing screws or bolts.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, two ribbed supports 35 and 36 are implemented on the carcass on the side of the motor instead of supports 12, 30 and They while the AC outlet has been deleted.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figures 6 and 7, the support ribs 29, 30 and 31 are replaced by the support 37.
