<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a coupling having an elastic element of annular shape, connecting the two rigid half-couplings to one another.
The problem underlying the invention is to provide an elastic coupling which, besides good elastic bending and rotational properties, transmits the torque without play and which, moreover, can be easily assembled and disassembled as well as with the most simple means.
According to the invention, this problem is solved by the fact that the elastic element of annular shape has on a periphery an axial toothing which meshes with a corresponding toothing of one of the half-couplings, by the fact that the elastic element, of shape annular, is firmly clamped at the other periphery against a projection of the other half-coupling by means of a clamping ring and screws and in its clamping seat accommodates several rigid bushings receiving the clamping lives distributed evenly on the periphery and which have a length shorter than the width that the elastic element in the loose state presents in this place and by the fact that the elastic element has a projection of annular shape.
Among the advantages produced by the invention, namely that the coupling is extremely elastic from the point of view of bending and rotation, that it transmits the torque without play and can be assembled and disassembled quickly as well as with the simplest means; this latter advantage appears particularly important when replacing defective elastic elements.
In addition to the advantages mentioned above, the invention is characterized by an oompaote construction - whereby the moment of inertia of the coupling can be kept low -
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and in addition also still by a precisely defined damping regime of the elastic element.
An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in section in the drawings.
Figure 1 is an axial sectional view showing the coupling according to the invention with the elastic member clamped, the coupling being ready for operation.
FIG. 2 is an axial sectional view showing the coupling according to the invention with the elastic element not tightened, the coupling not being ready for operation.
The elastic element of annular shape which is visible at 1, has axial teeth 2 on its outer periphery.
The axial teeth 2 meshed in a half-coupling 4 which is fixed to a part of a machine to be coupled, not shown in detail, for example a flywheel or the like.
By its internal peripheral bearing surface the elastic element is axially wandered against a shoulder 7 of the other half-coupling by means of a fitting ring 5 and several screws 6 uniformly distributed over the periphery of the element. the.tique.
The half-aoooupling 8 is shaped as a cylindrical means which is fixed to a shaft by means of a key. In its internal peripheral bearing surface, the elastic element 1 accommodates several rigid bushings 9 uniformly distributed over its periphery.
These sleeves are of shorter length than the width at this location of the elastic element 1 in the loose state (see FIG. 2). In order to obtain a large elastic length and hence to obtain good elastic properties of bending and rotation, the elastic element 1 has a projection 10 of annular shape. For example, for the mounting of the elastic element of annular shape 1 one simply needs only
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
insert the latter between the two half-couplings 4 and 8 and tighten it at its internal periphery against the shoulder 7 by means of the clamping ring 5 and screws 6. By tightening the elastic element, this expands radially outward.
In this way, one obtains not only on the internal periphery, but also on the external periphery of the elastic element 1, a fixing without play on the half-couplings.
The attachment, in particular of the outer periphery of the elastic element to the corresponding half-coupling is reinforced by the rotation of the coupling and additionally still by the expansion of the elastic element by the action of centrifugal force.
